There are a few points that appear to have been overlooked in this review, which is mostly good. First, Proton is now run by a non-profit foundation, where in addition to covering maintenance, fees are used to develop the service, and support access for people living in less fortunate realms. A new product being released soon is their "Wallet", for example. So, that is a Swiss wallet, I suppose. Proton supports and integrates with Tor, for those who want it. Note also that the data is physically very secure in Switzerland, and thus in this sense not purely about privacy. Another point is possibly a cultural one when looking at products like Proton: Americans see "freedom" in terms of freedom as a right to do something, whereas, Europeans view freedom in terms of being free _from_ things. It is worth keeping this in mind when considering what Proton offers.
When it comes to sync speed proton drive is painfully slow for large numbers of small files. Things like git repositories can take a long long time to sync.
I’m pretty sure pdrive will wipe your account of they find some file they don’t like in your drive, so at least in this, proton drive blows them out of the water
The iOS apps plus mac app don’t synchronise properly. Complete nightmare, unfortunately. I sticking to it for a few more weeks to see if they improve but for me it’s unusable across several devices.
The reason I am not using it is because you can NOT use it "pretty much anywhere". It does not make sense to me that it still does not have a client for Linux or Unix (e.g. FreeBSD). This while tje company is supposedly so focused on privacy... yet they only provide software to use their private storage on non private Operating Systems :(

Thanks for reviewing it!

Thanks. Not for me then.
You can sync in Linux using rclone
