For anyone who says that he’s overrated - he is not. It’s the other way around. I went to his concert in Madison Square Garden not expecting much. Truth be, I only knew one song ( yes it’s Take Me To Church). But let me tell you, I was blown away by his songs, music, his sheer talent, soulful voice and humbleness. My goodness, it was an unbelievable experience. I’m now a huge fan of Work Song, Cherry Wine, De Selby I and II etc etc. Hozier is NOT a one-hit wonder!

It's a genuine answer. I believe he puts a lot of himself into the words he writes. You never want to be too revealing especially when a lot of eyes are on you because it leaves you vulnerable to everything around you. With Hozier, he writes from a place of perspective but with a very unique experience and not only do I believe everything he says I believe it's truly who he is when he speaks about things. I'm a music nerd and a lot of his lyrics and the way he conveys his messages through his songs is immaculate. Truly one of a kind and I think a poet before a singer, even though his voice is truly remarkable.
He talks about this!! He says that's where having a character comes so handy. It allows him to speak from the heart while allowing the music to live as its own entity, and allows room for listeners to finish the song. He's a genius for every factor ❤

I feel like he’s the Jeff Buckley of this generation.
