I love the Osmo Pocket 3. I use it exclusively on my UA-cam channel (Digital Victory). I used to use the Pocket 2, but switched to the Pocket 3, and it is noticeably improved. Very impressive. Easy to use, extremely high quality content, tons of cool features... Nothing bad to say.
Man that DJI is a killer cam. Most of the people will watch your clips on a phone with a max resolution of 720p so who cares. As long as your storyline is great and you always have a practical tiny thingy on you, you will always be ready to create and learn.
Hey Vancouver!!! I just got my Osmo Pocket 3 last week! It’s very convenient!I’ve been using it as my studio camera and for vlogging toy hunts and it works great for both
To be real, I made this to test out UA-cam/talking on camera and to see if my studio set up works with the expectation not a single soul would see it. I’ll be making a more fair comparison video shortly. Stay tuned. Or don’t. Just have a good day.
pretty fair comparison tbh.. you'll miss lens capability on pocket3.. and you'll miss gimbal on fx3 stupid comparison if you trying to choose your first camera. but if you already have fx3, the pocket3 could fill the gaps for convenience without adding too much size n weight on your setup
@@eeeeeek that was the intent of the video, it’s never going to be “fair” seeing they are two completely different pieces of equipment for different purposes. But out of interest I’d like to test the performance at the same focal length.
I agree with the other comments. The wider angle of the DJI here makes it seem worse when compared to the zoomed in, more detailed shots on the FX3. Look forward to the comparison with same wide angle view
I really don't see significant differences as a regular person. Since you filmed it in different distances, it was harder to see the difference but as for cost effectiveness, DJI Osmo picket 3 looks cool.
Best of luck with your channel - liked the camera v camera set up - wasn’t even able to listen - but the pictures told it all - the footage from the pocket three was stable and usable right out of the camera -
Thank you! like you said - footage is surprisingly good out of camera. I’ve been using it on paid client jobs for unique angles and it’s been preforming really well.
Nice and honest review . I mainly film for leasure. Travel and moto vlogging, and to make my little movies, I always carry an actioncam for its wide angle and small size and my drone whenever possible in addition to my main camera… that makes a big and heavy bag at the end of the day (especially on a motorcycle)I had the pocket 1 &2 and now the 3. And I finally sold my semi-pro camcorder and dslr and gimbal as I went for a 100% time on the Pocket 3. Of course, I lost the optical zoom and I don’t control the aperture anymore ( but the Osmo gives an acceptable bokeih). I have to deal with it and be imaginative for framing. But I consider that the advantages are huge in regards to the loss: 1/ lighter setup to carry , so more discrete bag 2/ more discrete camera: people don’t notice it and are more natural 3/ increased possibilities in terms of angle of shot 4/ unity of image (DJI drone, Action 4 and Pocket: same brand, almost same rendering, so easier to deal with in post) 5 / excellent audio with the DJI Mic in a tiny package 6/ smaller budget 7/ great battery endurance in regards to big cameras 8/ I always carry my P3 with me, which was not the case when I had bigger stuff. You won’t look « professional » with this camera, it’s not as sexy as a big full frame, but forget it : the P3 offers a lot for a small size and a small price and once used to handle it , with the good settings, you’ll edit great footage. It could be better, but it’s already a fantastic tool that professional would have killed for 15 years ago !! ( when I look and your comparison, yes the Sony picture is nice… but so shaky !! First thing I noticed 😮)
Well, it always will in low light situations but for handheld vlogging I think this pocket Osmo is the best option. I’m considering getting this DJI for handheld vlogging shots… just keeping my FX3 for details shots, night time situations or environments where I’m allow to vlog with a full frame camera
This wasn't stupid at all......for the vast majority of people (90%) this will cover their needs. Vloggers, youtubers, people who need a quality smooth B CAM will all benefit from this and it's price tag vs a full frame set up. The only knock is the focal length can't truly be changed but other than that it's a great camera wether it's someones A cam or B cam!
I don't think it's silly at all! The Osmo pocket 3 is actually a beast in your pocket! Do you feel that the FX3 footages are not graded properly? Can you make a comparison on the same focal length?
You know.. with so many peoples compare pocket 3 with much higher specs n expensive camera.. dji just need release some pocket 3 pro or any commecial series with 4/3" or bigger with compact form factor ,, for peoples that looking more than standard pocket 3..
Dude that's a fail on the camera man who can't keep it steady and is using a very high fast shutter angle. Use the correct speed and expose using an ND or aperture, but the image is horrible on the Pocket 3, Zero dynamic range, shadows and highlights crush look no better that if is was taken on a cell phone.
*What you have demonstrated here is you do not know how to properly colour grade your footage. Your FX3 footage looks kind of shaky and a little choppy to my eye. Everything looks a little on the overly soft side focus wise as well. Your actual OSMO Pocket 3 footage looks better than your FX3 footage, and that should really be the other way around (???) I own the Pocket 3 camera, and I can certainly attest to the quality of the image it produces. However, the FX3 is an exceptional quality, full frame 4K camera. (They just made a high end sci-fi with this model of camera), and your FX3 footage should look way better than it does (?????)*
Thanks for the feedback. Sincerely, I disagree with you. As mentioned in the video, I’m using the setup I prefer on the fx3 which is with a vintage lens. Which you likely know leads to shaky footage (without a tripod) as well as a softer focus which may lead people to think the Osmo footage is better but it comes down to preference. Color grading also “properly” is also in the eye of the beholder. With that said, I am in the process of making a second video with a more similar focal length to do a proper comparison. Didn’t think this video would get more than 3 views. Haha
@@zanderlamb I'm only going by what my eyes are seeing, and as good as the OSMO Pocket 3 is with it's 1 inch sensor, it certainly is no match for the full frame 4K DCI spec'd out SONY FX3. I agree with you the vintage lens you put on your FX3 is giving a softer look, but what you refer to as "softer" looks more like out of focus footage to me ? I'm wondering if you are not getting a back focus issue with the vintage lens ?
@@markjob6354 that’s totally fair. I’ve had my fx3 for close to 3 years and have got some unreal footage for client and personal work. The osmo is by no means anywhere close to the image and capability of the fx3. But it is a very impressive little thing.
@@zanderlamb Yes. I agree. Although the OSMO Pocket 3 is a giant step forward in terms of overall image quality, due to its much larger image sensor and feature capabilities, the actual optical performance of the chosen lens DJI has deployed in it's latest iteration is actually not as good as the original OG OSMO Pocket's lens was. The original OSMO Pocket 1 had less optical distortion and better overall contrast values than the lens on No. 3 has. One does not immediately notice how the Pocket 3 has increased barrel distortion, unless dealing with certain wide angle long shots whereby you have straight lines and 90 degree angles in the frame. The same optical distortion also comes apparent when you shoot a subject's face too close to the lens. Foreheads are seen to recede and noses enlarge and elongate, which maybe a reason why DJI chose to implement some AI optical face thinning effects to compensate ? This is particularly visible in Urban City Landscape long shots, where you can see buildings leaning inward slightly toward the outer edges of the frame. This effect is, of course, increased, if you attach the extra wide angle lens which comes with the Pocket 3. However, for low light shooting and sit down interviews, whereby you need to get quick broadcast quality audio, and easy lighting, the OSMO Pocket 3 is a real quick deployable game changer.
It's funny how we always try to justify the price of our bigger cams, but the most important thing is how looks out of the box through the eye of an normal person and sometimes i don't know why but the op3 looks better. When we a talking about lowlight or difficult lightning situations, our bigger cams will always have an avantages.
I love the Osmo Pocket 3.

Cool video but better use the same focal length next time
That video is in the making currently. I wanted to test the setups I use most often but it doesn’t make for the best comparison.
I just got this and I am in Vancouver too!
Looking forward to more content!!!!
Thank you! I’ll do my best 🤙
Awesome video, I feel like you took more creative shots with the Osmo Pocket 3 vs the Sony FX3, but overall great video.
Thanks, I think it’s because of the gimbal and wider field of view. I’m still playing around with it!
I love my pocket 3 but the fx3 is amazing
Fx3 kills the Osmo! Those 2 clips at 01:57 and 01:59 tell the whole story.
Absolutely, that’s why I say these tests are silly. But they’re fun and interesting. The fx3 will always preform way better.
Maybe a ND filter …probably

It depends what purposes you have in mind. What are you looking to use it for?

My channel is practically based on the P2 and now on the Pocket 3.
For my personal needs there is nothing better on the market 👍

That would be awesome. To fall in the middle going between their ronin 4d and this
It competes, especially at the price point.
Thank you for this video. maybe you can lower sharpness on OP3.
Thanks, it’s was at -1, but in recent days I’ve reduced that.
1:26 sony's footage is shaky and the motion of the train does not look as smooth as in pocket 3
