Yeah I think so Scott. I guess it is hard to disagree with on that Mathews. The card looks really nice other than centering. I think all these grading companies just get hung up on centering because its the only thing they can really reduce grades on sometimes. I love their slabs like you said. Would be nice if they gave their labels some spunk though.
@@ReindeerStudios We have really started to like the tux because it does let the card stand out. Just think maybe some kind of hologram or something on the label would make it look much better. Their ID text is so small you can barely read it and you cant see the grade quality text very well either. They should hire you to create an updated version that isn't too much. Actually, if they just put subgrades on it that would be amazing. :)
This was really fun, love the format. YES, SGC hammers on centering, sorry about the 3 on the 58 Mathew’s. When you previewed it, I said to myself, “get ready for the 2.5 to 3.5!” Nice cards either way.
Thanks so much TBC!!! I think it was somewhat expected on the 58 Mathews. I understand why they do it but it's hard to have such a crisp card get a lower grade than a worn out card that is centered better. Overall I think SGC is fair and consistent. We knew what it was and are still happy all these in a tux.
Thanks for sharing. I like SGC better than HGA. Yeah, SGC doesn't do qualifiers. If you sent the 58 to PSA it might be like a 6 (OC) ...or a 3 with that 90/10 centering on the front. As for the 55, you may want to use a black light to see if it's been recolored, or a jewelers loop to see if someone tried to repair a corner. Looking forward to the next rip!
Thanks SW!!! I agree with you on the grades. SGC left a note on the Mathews that they saw evidence of trimming. They would know better than we would I guess.
Yeah David, I think they have been the toughest we have seen so far but they seem to be more consistent than others too. They have very good service and turn around. The slabs are nice even if the labels are a bit plain. Overall we prefer them over all others at the moment.
Thanks JP!!! We are not disappointed, really like these cards. Would have been nice to get a little better grades but they would know better than we do.
@@SammyThunder Yeah Sammy, we basically send a new submission every week at this point. It's kind of addicting. LOL Have lots of cards out at HGA and SGC at the moment.
Nice vintage graded cards I thought you should’ve did better with the Eddie Mathews card,If you don’t mind me asking how much does it cost for 8 cards graded at SGC . Thanks for sharing guys
Thanks Rob!!! You can see their pricing at their website gosgc.com. It is currently $30 for standard turnaround times. Usually about a month to get them back. You can pay more for shorter turnaround if you would like.
Thanks Jeff!! We can't wait either. We thought the McGwire might get a 9 but I guess they saw something. Wish they had sub grades like HGA but overall we are happy with these slabs.
Thanks Driller!!! These all look great and we are very happy to have them in the PC for sure. Not sure why they think it was trimmed but they would know better than us.
If SGC is anything like PSA when it comes to grading cards with issues, they now drop it "one full grade" instead of adding a qualifier to the label. Ex.: OC (off-center), MC (miss-cut), MK (mark), etc. That Matthews might have been dropped a grade (or even two) since it is extremely off-centered.
Yeah Scott, I agree. I think they dropped it at least 2 grades for being OC. Maybe even 3. Overall condition of the card is great so maybe it went from a 6 to a 3. Wish they had sub grades so we would know.
Thanks Roy. We are still happy to have them slabbed. Love these cards and trust SGC more than any other grading company. I am confident they would have graded better with PSA or HGA.
Nice to see u guys not use psa and try other companies ..maybe one day all these companies will have price guides of there own ..its ridiculous what psa charges to grade and people do it because they supposedly are the most trusted and they have a price guide . Just my opinion....was thinking you guys should do a video of all the cards u have graded in your collections for us all to see ...have a good one guys ...great video #cogsportscards
Yeah alex, we are not on the PSA bandwagon at the moment. SGC has really grown on us lately. We were planning to do a video of our favorite cards we have pulled on the show from last year.
Enjoyed the video and just hit you with a sub. I just sent in 3 cards to SGC from Korea last week. I should get them back in about a month and looking forward to it. I also sent a 55 Mays so it will be interesting to see how mine does compared to the one you sent. lol
Not so sure SGC is the way to go with grading. I have seen yall use them several times with questionable results. Just curious, why do you use them over other grading services?
Yeah Brian, we are not sure who to go with either. I think SGC is very hard on grading but they are also consistent and have good customer service. We like the tux for sure but wish the label was a little more exciting. Maybe just a hologram or something. We are not fans of PSA. Don't like their slabs and think they just grade easier than most. Plus with the cost and lead time its just ridiculous what they have done to the little folks in the hobby like us. Seems most are just wanting to get a good grade and preserve value to flip with them. We like the modern slabs and labels with HGA but they are really having trouble getting standard turnaround time submissions out the door right now. Their slabs are really clear and having sub grades is great.
@@COGSportsCards I have been researching a lot of the different services out there but have been hesitant on who to go with as it isn't cheap. Lol! I definitely appreciate and value the feedback you provided! Looking forward to Sunday!
Yeah James, I feel like SGC is the most consistent grader out there so we will trust their opinion. Just would be nice to have sub grades so you would know why.
Very nice reveal guys. I do think they were a bit hard on you though. The Matthews definitely looks better than what they gave you. That’s too bad about the possible trimming on the other one. The Bowman’s look good in the dark slabs. Personally, just from an aesthetic standpoint, I like HGA. Having sub grades is a nice plus. Thank you for sharing
Thanks David!!! They might have been a bit hard but they know better than we do. We keep going back and forth between HGA and SGC. If SGC had subgrades we would probably be using them exclusively. SGC's service is much better at the moment though.
that hank willy card is crazy !! guys is there a good discord or facebook group you all chat about cards . the reason i dont buy many is the worry of not knowing value and fear of being ripped off on ebay.
Yeah Trev, really cool to have them both on one card from the 60's. Happy to have that one for sure. We do not know of a good discord group to chat about cards at the moment. Def agree about buying from ebay. There are a couple of reputable ebay stores out there we could point you towards.
@@COGSportsCards i love it id imagine its not an easy card to find. my problem is being uk bassed i have no one that share my passion for baseball ,so im not an expert on values and such . is why i need advice.
Great submission love the vintage looks great in a tuxedo 🤵♂️ 🤵♂️
Thanks JP!!! The tux is growing on us.
The vintage cards in SGC slabs look great!
Yeah Paul, we are enjoying the tux slabs. They have really grown on us.
I'm no expert, but I think SGC will really get you on centering. I've had a similar experience. I love those tuxes though.
