  • In this episode we travel our way through the great state of Oklahoma. We do our best to outrun some major storms in tornado alley and we are forced to abandon our plans in the name of safety. We visit a Harvest Host location in Sayre, Oklahoma - Route 66 Meat Processing where we take refuge from the storms. We also visit the Canadian Campground Army Corps of Engineers Recreation Area (No relation to Jacqueline) in Canton, Oklahoma for a short and beautiful time. Lastly, we talk about how important it is to be flexible and prepared when living on the road.
    Thank you for coming along for the ride!

    Love the song👍. Harvest Hosts are great, we are watching from our HH stay in the middle of South Dakota. Our neighbors are three rigs trailering their mules to ride in the Blackhills. HH location has a large corral and the mules are having a blast. Be safe guys

    Just saying Hi! Love the song Free. Well written and performed. We had shackles changed on our Solitude in Shawnee, OK. We stayed out at the Expo Center just outside of town. Right across from a camper dealer there is a shop that fixes trailers. The owners were so nice. We have stayed in Shawnee several times now. Even sat out a tornado a couple years ago. Stay safe. Burlington Bill busking on the road and here on UA-cam.

    We love Harvest Hosts. That being said, the *expected" amount that they want you to spend is starting to make it almost as expensive as an RV park. $20 was fine with me. $30 is on the edge. If they raise it any further, we're out. We recently stayed at a winery. My wife had a tasting flight, I had a bottle of water. We shared the "large" charcuterie tray (about 4 pieces of pepperoni, a couple cheese cubes, and maybe 10 crackers) $18. Pretzel bites. Literally 8 tiny pretzel bites. $10. My wife bought a bottle of wine to go. The total bill was $87! WTF! I could have had water, electric, sewer, showers, etc for less than that.

      I’m right there with you Dan. I am hoping that they don’t price themselves out of business. They are a mainstay for us. Safe travels! 😀😀🚎

    Always great videos.
    I have the same truck as you. I installed a DC-DC charger which charges 50 amps safely to our lithium batteries.
    1: 70 amp circuit breaker switch at the battery
    2: 4 gauge red and black from that switch under the truck to the rear where it connects to very large Anderson Jack.
    3: Renogy DC-DC 50 amp charger.
    4: Cable from DC-DC to Anderson plug, enough slack to plug into truck.
    Nothing better than see that 48-50 amps dumping into those batteries as you drive to next location.

    Good call leaving ahead of storms. That area was hit by a tornado in 2011, destroyed some recreation areas on that lake. Safe travels and look forward to next video.

    Lots of fun on this one - and some not so much fun with those storms. One thing we have not had to deal that much with - eventually we will head east and learn about hail... Love the harvest hosts - we use them a lot too. The campsite looked nice too bad you couldn't stay there longer - but thats all about being flexible isn't it? Thanks guys looking forward to Halloween :)

    Unless I misunderstood what you said about your tanks having pressure. That should never happen unless your tank is filled above where your vent attaches. Even so your tank would just start filling up your vent line, which is never good.😅

    • @TheBorderHookups
      @TheBorderHookups  Місяць тому

      Hi Tim. I just that when I open the cap, there was pressure. I would say that it was due to heat, but it was pretty chilly that day. Hope you are well! 😀

    Another great video of life on the road. I am surprised that your batteries don't charge from the truck while driving. It must be isolated from the truck since it is a lithium system. (just guessing) Love the picture of Bella at the end, I grew up with boxers and love them so much. Keep the content coming

    • @TheBorderHookups
      @TheBorderHookups  Місяць тому +1

      Hi Kevin. Thank you! We have read about charging from the truck. Apparently it has something to do with the gauge of the wires.

    Doesn’t your truck charge your batteries?
    In my Class C RV, when I drive the alternator charges my house batteries.

      From what I have read, much of it comes down to the wire gauge. I’m all ears. 😀.
