Funniest part about this... Ice-T is always living lavish due to his SVU residuals. Ice-T doesn't need to do Body Count. He does it because he loves it. Ice-T and Ernie C are the best duo ever!!!
@Jesterhead-ow6gu I understand that but after their first album the follow ups Born Dead and Violent Demise didn't sell well and were lambasted by critics.
I remember Body Count being in the news in the early 90s, when the song Cop Killer caused such an uproar that both the President and Vice President put in their ignorant two cents. I was just a kid, but it was wild seeing grown ass adults so terrified of a song.
When I was young, I used to make an artform out of getting into shows, especially sold out shows. DRI and Body Count sold out in my home town, so I went out there to see if I could find a way to get in. The whole block was swarming with police. They were just waiting for something to go down so they could arrest Ice T.
Their song "Bum Rush" won a Grammy two years ago for "Best Metal Performance." Check that out... My favorite new Body Count song is "Point The Finger" featuring Riley Gale (R.I.P.) from Power Trip.
Ice T wrote the song '99 Problems' that was covered by a rapper you may have heard of! I first bought a Bodycount CD in 1994, their first album that was released in 1991 - the last song on it was banned for decades called 'Cop Killer' because of cop beatings at the time, Rodney King mainly.
I've always been in Metal and Hip-hop Head but when I went to I think went to Waxie- Maxie across the street from my house and Picked up Cop Killer cassette still remember the Clerk behind the counter and saying to me you know this is this a Rock Album I looked her right in the Eye and I said I know exactly what it is!! Been Riding with BC every since 😎🤘
i just found this and cant believe nobody put this young man onto the og song "6 in tha mornin", it is classic og 80s rap track. my formative years shaped by gangsta rap and metal. this was a match made in heaven to me when Body Count dropped in the 90s.
i was a metalhead at 15 in Australia in 95 and a friend played the body count song on the Ice T OG album and i listened to the whole album. From that day i listen to metal and rap and Ice T is my fav rapper. all his albums are great but Ice T return of the real is my fav album and midnight of OG is my fav track
Body Count was the first band that I ever saw in concert, back in 1992. They opened up for Guns N Roses and Metallica at Arrowhead Stadium. I was only 15 years old and rocking out. Ice T invented gangster rap. New Jack Hustler.
Cracking yourself up was funny. Ice T as a rapper was never as good as his peers. But in this band, as a metal guy singing with rap flow and urban themes?... It's always 🔥. You should check out "This is Why we Ride" or "Black Hoodie."
He helped create the league. Doesn't mean he was good enough to compete in it. He's a creative and a hustler and the best political lyric writer there is. He's just not a great rapper in the context of urban music. Metal is the only vessel aggressive enough to convey Ice T properly.
@@scazxrI agree. He doesn't sound right unless he's rapping to metal. That's why I love it when he records BC covers of his rap tracks, because they sound the way they should've sounded to begin with.
Ice-T was relevant in gangsta rap for around 5 years. He's been relevant in metal for 32 years. Although it's disputable; the argument can be made that he and Ernie C invented rap metal. I recommend starting out with their 1992 debut and working your way up from there. They started out really raw and unrefined, but as their discography grew, so did their skill level. By the time "Manslaughter" came out in 2014, they had reached the point of where they were performing flawlessly and with precision; and it's been that way ever since. Body Count is the GOAT of rap metal, and it's unlikely anyone will ever dethrone them.
Nah son, just all of Bloodlust, but particularly The Ski Mask Way and All Love is Lost. That album was heavily Slayer influenced and has really dark themes beyond traditional gangbanger style like this track. It’s also really political which Body Count has always been.
@@TheRealStump Okay then that would explain it. So of course there are a lot of things you weren't aware of growing up. But the way you kept saying you never heard of BC made it seem like you were implying BC was unheard of. In other words wherever you're from no one ever listened to that band. Because I would think most people who were an adult or at least a teenager during that time have at least heard the name of the band especially if you're familiar with Ice T.
Simply check out there old stuff, listen to there first album called Bodycount and afterwards spread the word. Tell all your friends of this amazing band you have discovered. And you don't have to tell them that this stuff is old. I was 18 or 20 when BC got over the ocean to us (I am european). No Internet back then (I know the Internet was invented in the 60's but it really got big with the 2000's) so everything took a bit longer than today. BTW I am 45 now. And my first suggestion for review would be Bodycount - There goes the neighborhood.

he does it for ernie c. He made the whole band just for him.
@@Lolquake One of the most underrated guitarists in this world.
Ernie is a Master.
For real.
Black Hoodie is the shit
He didnt start doing SVU till 2000, so Body Count was going well before that
@Jesterhead-ow6gu I understand that but after their first album the follow ups Born Dead and Violent Demise didn't sell well and were lambasted by critics.
Rember people in there 40s have been listening to RATM and Ice T for 20 years
Those of us in their 50s have been listening to them both for over 30 years
more like 30+

Ice T was a rapper. He created this band so his friend could play guitar; he also noticed kids moshing during his rap shows, so the perfect storm. ❤❤❤

I still have their first album on cassette...yeah I'm old. Cop Killer had everybody freakin' out.

You so crazy
Check out Ice T - Colors. That’s the song that made him popular. 1988 the first song about Crips and Bloods.
COP KILLER!!!
Glad that you liked them
Yes, Ice T was mainly known for being a rapper. We'll have to put you onto some more old-school.
😂😂😂😂 The intro is funnier than shit!
You should do "No Lives Matter," by Body Count, sick jam. ❤

"Original Gangster" album by Ice T is a must listen...
I enjoyed this vid but Body count has been around since the 90s they took breaks here and there but they always re awaken. Keep up the boss content!
Ice-T made this so his friend could play guitar 🎸. The only reason body count is a band
