    I had the pleasure to watch this match in real life.
    It was quite the thriller, from Deac having only around 10 min with around 20 moves before time control to all the pressure in the final minutes.
    Alireza was really stressed. He let out a sigh of relaxation after he sacrificied the knight for the passed pawn knowing for sure that the game was finaly over.

      The black rook was too active and was able to harass the passed pawns before white could coordinate with his rook and bishop. Rook activity is so important in endgames that a more active rook is worth one or two pawns. Look at how easy the black rook was able to scoop up the base of the pawn chain before the pawns even started moving.

    When we step off the edge of the known chess universe, we create a position which has not been seen before.
    We need many abbreviations to describe how new/unknown or possibly old/familiar the resulting game is:
    VOG - VERY OLD game
    OG - Old Game
    SNG - Slightly New Game
    MNG - Moderately New Game
    NG - New Game

    Are we sure the quote above the board came from Bruce Lee? Sounds more like Peter Baelish.

    Hasn't Alireza been prepping for Candidates since end of last year? his performance in this tournament hasn't lived up to expectations, his live rating has dropped down to 2795.6. Is he just rusty or doesn't want to give away any of his Candidates Prep?

    • @xamsedalabay6809
      @xamsedalabay6809 2 роки тому +1

      If you have noticed every candidate player lost a game and not leading the tournment, they are hiding their Prep.

      @@2cache504 this is his first +2700 classic chess tournament.. considering the experience of other contestants, and other players results it is definitely not bad .. also he needs only one win to reach to the top 3

      @@414aliha It tells me 2800 isn't real because he got to 2800 by playing against soft comp.. Like his only win. Not saying he's not a good player just that so far through 5 games he's been less than terrific.
