I had the pleasure to watch this match in real life. It was quite the thriller, from Deac having only around 10 min with around 20 moves before time control to all the pressure in the final minutes. Alireza was really stressed. He let out a sigh of relaxation after he sacrificied the knight for the passed pawn knowing for sure that the game was finaly over.

The black rook was too active and was able to harass the passed pawns before white could coordinate with his rook and bishop. Rook activity is so important in endgames that a more active rook is worth one or two pawns. Look at how easy the black rook was able to scoop up the base of the pawn chain before the pawns even started moving.
Firouzja remised against Giri with a Rook and a Knight versus a Rook and 4 Pawns. Giri had 2 dubble connected past pawns on both sides of the board, one pair on A,B files and the other pair were on G and H
