what i do on a cheap bbq is cook/smoke for half cooking time on the BBQ (keep close eye on wood combustion), then finish off the cook wrapped in a conventional oven to get to temperature. cos really all the difference between an expensive bbq and a cheap one, is heat retention and probs the airflow on the wood
I was looking foward to see more videos on your page but only this one? Would've like to have seen more tests particularly side by side with the weber and potentially testing an offset smoker too.
Sorry I am planning to do more soon I had a really busy period with work and completely let this drop off. I plan on doing more very soon . Thanks for watching this one though!
Good to get an honest opinion. If the Weber is twice the metal, I would expect a price of £140-£180, where I would have happily bought the Weber. As they're £350-£500 for the Weber depending on size, it's just not justifiable to your average amateur user.
Did you account for the one hour curing for the lack of briquettes, and when you put your ribs on the bottom rack, you should’ve unfastened your clasps and lifted the middle part of your smoker to have a better access to the grate, either way I would prefer spending $100 rather than $399 , great video, and also on the temp management, could’ve kept the door open
@smoulderinggrill3836 had a couple of good cooks, but that was some serious hard work. Smoke doesn't stay in, and you don't get enough air to keep a temperature. I turned an old indoor heating unit on near the door to try and keep the temp stable, which did okay. Definitely wouldn't recommend though.
That's really interesting, especially the use of the indoor heating unit. I found the lack of airflow control a huge problem too. I can't decide whether it's worth the hassle for the low cost (especially if you only paid £33) but I use the ProQ smoker I have and it works with far less effort which I enjoy a lot more ...... despite being significantly more expensive....
@@kevio8179 funny you mention that .....I have just bought two of the 1050s and will be doing a video with them soon. They are amazing bits of kit and like you say definitely not piss balling about lol
Nice. so prob was you didnt check the water, you didnt check the meat to baste and ensure not to burnt and you didnt shake / poke the coals to get rid of excess ash? All that sounds like a you problem, not a smoker prob? nice video though. I had a more expensive smoker in the past but have just moved into a flat. I was thinking of putting one of these on the balcony. Will order it now cheers!

That's how a lot of people feel buddy, and that's what makes this little kit such a good investment for most people

Nice video, feels like you need a 2nd test with water managed to see what difference that makes. 👍🏾👍🏾

@@smoulderinggrill3836 Would be interested in seeing that, looking at grabbing one of these.
