older video but it so cool to see my boys from around the way. Flatbush Brooklyn, church ave! . In the mid to late 80's early 90's it was just crews of guys handing out in different parts of the neighborhood, from brooklyn Queens the bronx All the boroughs of NY and even out in longisland Staten island New Jersey and CT. And ironically it was EVERYTHING going on at the same time. The club scene hot, Rap hip hop and dance, and on the other side of town, Dudes with sports cars were reviving the street drag racing scene. Brooklyns Linden blvd/ starette city, 150th st conduit off the belt parkway in Queens, Francis lewis blvd, and in the bronx Grants tomb. it was at these places where the very real story of Fast and the Furious was born. An article written by a guy coined racerX told the story about NY legendary street Drag racing scene. People coming from other states during the weekend. So many things were popping in NY at the time, the College Phrat scene School Daze, Every weekend the amount of fun you had was what later would become movies. But i kid you not, it really did happen. every weekend like clockwork. Thousands of people backing up the highways watching illegal drag racing until the cops came and everyone scrambled to the next location. Amazing times handing out with your crew heading to Manhattan to the legendary clubs , the music off the charts. Webster hall, the Tunnel, 1018, the paldium, Union Sqaure. Limelite. sharkbar, and of course Latin quarters!! to just name a few. And yet it was also a time of cultural renaissance. Black people in particular are those who set the tone for that era. Hip hop soul, R&B dance and even Pop. the cultural black revival movement. people finally celebrating who and what they are, and not being suppressed by the singular vision of white people. And yet, not shying away from even their cultural discovery, mainly being truthful about their situation in song, and bands. it was no longer about the lies of an apple pie family, no they had to express the struggles of their lives, struggles that were no so different than others. And for the asian community so close as they were to black communities they having been so long removed from the old cultural foundations, the youth being so distant to their parents had adapted to much of black culture, and ironically at least most of the time the black youth was more than fine to be their like brothers to their asians friends. And its how asians at least in NY transformed into such diffent people than their parents and generations before them. They utilized the best of their knowledge and skills to progress forward in business and entrepreneurship. Rich as they were being culturally diverse. Brooklyn in particular was so unique in that all the so-called races came together united. sometimes with allittile skirmish here and their but overall, everyone was in love with just having fun. Be it parties, dancing, racing. just getting out the house and living life free without all the angst that we have today.. all the separatism we see today, the hate, the sheer and utter stupidity. Blacks Italians, Asians, Russians, Jews you name it, its the very core why people like brooklyn today, Back then we all had dreams and their was the feeling that it was all achievable if you simply pursued it. yes it was a period of hard times, but more so the end of hard times the transitioning out of hard times. people were getting jobs, the economy was booming. it was if the storm had passed. and the sun was shinning thru. look at the movies during that time the songs, the music the dance. today its not the same. its all very different today. too much hate, people burnt from corruption and greed, fun is mostly only found on a game console. yes their is the ongoing era of dragracing, and dance is ever popular. and its good. its once again finding its roots as individuals, and not as choreography. of individual soul and style, every person their own story to be read and enjoyed. Here i still looking at my friends passing on the joys of our era, setting the course proper and right.

The song is Special Delivery by G Dep (2001), which samples a rift from You Keep Me Hangin' On by Moog Machine (1969). Uproar (2018) samples the beat from Special Delivery.
