    Thank you Tara! I have been listening and re-listening to your blogs and taking notes so I hat is off to you, dear heart! I am spending a particular long time on the draft one. My professors gave me out dated knowledge and thankfully I realized that myself and finding current sources for my ex-post facto study. I adored the three monkeys blogs Vlog 77 Epistemology, Vlog 78 Ontology and Vlog 79 Methods so I can be very clear of the knowledge I am using. You certainly motivate me to rise the bar and bring me much peace!

    Fabulous vlog! My supervisor will never agree to do this however. But I can still implement it on my own.

    I am about to submit my phd thesis this week. This video just made me realise that my supervisors have prompted me to go through all of the ten stages, although not in the sequence that Tara introduced. Thank you for another wonderful video!❤❤

    Thanks you for a great video again. I've just passed my viva with minor corrections :). However, watching your videos makes me feel how much I missed during my PhD journey.
    Although it is only few weeks ago I started watching this channel, I think it is still very useful for me, not as a student anymore, but as graduate interested in academic career( very inspiring). I've already recommended this channel for many PhD students, even though I think this channel is more beneficial for many supervisors. And as always wish you love, light, and peace. ;-)

      Congrats Maher - what an achievement. We're applauding you here!!! And I hope what we can accomplish in all our work - all of us - is building the relationships between students and supervisors. That's the hope. And the goal. Keep in touch mate - much love. Txxx

    I'm an NZ PhD candidate, just finishing my first draft (yay!). Thanks so much for making these public, I find them really helpful! I'm wondering, when you talk about Draft 4 - Reference list, are there any other specific things to think about other than dated references? I suppose really key works that are conspicuous by their absence, but anything else? Thank you!

      I re-watched blog 8 and got a bit of information on this

      You are right Amie - what is NOT present is as important as what is present. Dated reference - big problem. Gap - key problem. Textbooks rather than scholarly monographs - key problem. Hope that helps :) Txxx

      Just wanted to say thank you for making all of this public. I submitted my thesis for examination on Monday (in 3 years and 2 weeks, with 3 kids at primary school) and just wanted to tell you how much your vlogs, articles, and podcasts (which went tramping with me many times!) had helped me through my candidature. Thanks heaps, from an exhausted and relieved anthropologist across the ditch :)

    Really useful - I am just a month in, part-time, and so a long way from finishing. But I plan to use a modified version of these ten stages to produce the best drafts of sections and chapters as I go along, to help me get past the feelings of panic I always get before submitting work. I have just finished an MRes and I am sure that I could have improved it if I had gone through these stages in the final weeks.

    • @officeofgraduateresearchfl9343
      @officeofgraduateresearchfl9343  6 років тому +1

      Thank you Jane - and congratulations on your M Res. And - absolutely. If you don't want to go through this process at the end - it does provide a checklist of variable to monitor and manage on the way through. Brilliant suggestion. And keep in touch Jane - you rock :) Txxx

    Making the examiner Happy and Calm! I am not doing a Doctorate but these videos are useful for this undergraduate, procrastination, References and staying well . Do they fail outright or does it go to a Master's instead?

    I like to take my track changes out as I address them, so it looks neat - but is it better to leave them in? Because sometimes if I address it and delete the comment - on the next go around - the supervisor wants it back the way it was before the comment!

    Hi Tara thanks so much for this and it does indeed make it more manageable but what if your supervisor won't agree to this method and only wants 2/3 read throughs? How would you suggest managing this? Sally x

      Hi, I think I may find myself in the same boat. I am thinking that certainly I can ask myself these questions and go through my draft on my own during these 10 stages. I can ask others to read this with an eye to emphasizing one of those aspects Tara elaborated upon. And I can ask my advisor to look for certain things in my writing as he reads through. Thanks for asking the question - it made me think how I can be more proactive.
