Turning a bolt into a fly cutter (Making of a Fly Cutter)

- In this video I show you how I turned an M30x50 bolt into a fly cutter that uses lathe cutting tools.
To make the FLy Cutter I used my lathe (Weiss WL200) and my Bench mill/drill (ZX7016). - Наука та технологія
Smart! Most bolts are made of good steel, so that's an advantage from the start.
Clever idea! 👍
But picking up all the cut flies afterwards takes some of the fun out of it... 😉
Well done 👍
Good job bro
Good job
Great idea to use screw as stock material! I'm also thinking about making flycutter and using screw there's less material removal which is time consuming for mini lathe :)
It is not only the less material you have to remove. Screw bolts are hardened :)
💯👌
Does it chatter when you mill with the endmill
What milling machine do you have there please.. it’s a nice size eg not too big.. thanks
It is a ZX7016 Milling/Drilling Machine
Not too big ? You better not get a small mill it will chatter vibrate alot i suggest a zx7032 is entry level
Hello.
Nice project, thanks for the nice video :)
Be careful, wearing gloves is dangerous when working with a mill/lathe !
I work with gloves since day one. I am not saying that is the best thing to do but I am extra careful :)
Hello, did you make any modifications on your ZX7016 to gain rigidity ? It looks surprisingly less subject to vibrations than mine when you are milling ! Thank you :)
I do not own this machine anymore but I had changed the gibs with brassed gibs I built myself. The brassed gibs had much smoother motion and better surface contact.
Thanks @@machinistnick
What kind of collets are you using with drill press?
The collet is ER32.
What's with the gloves? Dangerous.
