Oooh, I don't think I've seen this interview. She looked hella pretty. I didn't agree w/ her label comparing her to Whitney Houston, vocally. Mariah never had the stamina that Whitney possessed. Mariah was often winded in her live performances. Whitney just kept going and going.
It wasn’t her label that was comparing her. It was the media and the public. The comparison was vocals, not live performances or stamina, and they do sound very similar in tone in their mid belting range so it’s a fair assessment. I know you like to take swipes where you can but let’s not put down one artist to uplift another. They both have their own separate strengths.
@@thetruth4203 It was definitely the label. They do that in order to create buzz which leads to unnecessary competition. They only sounded similar (on record) during Mariah's debut. After that, Mariah did her own thing. Seems like you're a long-time "follower" of mine. Whatever I said originally is indeed end all be all.
@@Sttephy30 it was jealousy as she's not a prolific writer, she could never stand being compared vocally to anyone young or old, she has too high of an opinion of herself for someone who bombed so much live.
@@Lucy-iy9ni Not a prolific writer? She's literally in the songwriters hall of fame, and wrote the most #1 hits by a female act ever. And has a song she wrote in the Library of Congress, definitely prolific.
@@Sttephy30 "treated me kind...sweet destiny" yeah very talented lol. Awards are politics, they don't make you a good writer, ever heard of the mariah carey effect? When your chart success does not translate to your cultural relevence, she's in the category of Taylor swift, now Joni mitchell? That's a writer
@@Lucy-iy9ni I mean, that's your opinion. But the reality is, Mariah's a very prolific and accomplished songwriter. And not just politics, but by the number of people that paid money to purchase her records. Plus, 30+ years later, her songs are being streamed by a whole new generation. Awards aren't that political w/ Mariah, or she would've gained many, many more, especially Grammy's. She rarely even attends award ceremonies. She got nominated for Songwriters Hall of Fame, and was selected by an elite group of writers. Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis called Mariah an amazing writer. David Foster said she was a great writer. And even Carole King said Mariah was a talented writer. So, your opinion just doesn't reflect reality. She's written over 400+ registered songs. And her songwriting actually made her more money than anything else, as she's the owner of all her publishing. That's how she became even richer than Whitney Houston, fast. Anyways, I don't like Taylor Swift, but she can write her arse off. But she's not on the level of Mariah, especially NOT melodically. Joni Mitchell is definitely a better storyteller, and very deep lyrically. But I still prefer Mariah's melodical ear over Joni.
it was so cute how many times she said ''umm''
She was so young and seemed nervous in the beginning of the interview, looking to say exactly the right words to avoid offending anyone
Damn the watermark is so annoying 😭
What show was this and who’s the host?

Clearly haven't seen Daydream tour full set but ok
@@sapphirelatina _Daydream Tour._ Is that all y'all got? I get to sick of hearing about that damn tour.

Why did Mariah always have to shade Whitney, mentioning that she was a songwriter? She is always so insecure.
Well, she didn’t lie
