We traded in our 2019 Tesla M3 long range as we were watching our asset depreciate due to Tesla substantially lowering their prices. We test drove a number of EV’s and when we tested the GV70 we fell in love. It was everything the Tesla wasn’t. We took delivery 5 months ago and oddly our average is 3.42 miles/kwhr which is a 265 mile range. We do not do a lot 70 mph driving but we have put on 5300 miles on the odometer. We live in Canada and know our range will go down but it will do better than our Tesla which didn’t have a heat pump. In our opinion the GV70 electrified is the best EV value in Canada. A truly amazing EV without the Tesla quirks.
I love how people try to tell you your view doesn’t matter because you turned in your Tesla for another vehicle. Whether Tesla lovers like it or not, there are other options that meet people’s needs other than a Tesla.
@@mikedsjr i apologize. My bad. I felt i was just clearing up misinformation about the heat pump. I look at specs, cost, power too. That said ive never set foot in a Genesis so my goal isnt to disparage it.
@@uutube243 cars in general are depreciating assets but as stated my Tesla depreciated more because of the substantial reduction in the prices of new Tesla.
I got mine in May '23 (serial number 607), I couldn't be happier with the car. Yeah, I'd like better range like anyone would, especially on longer road trips. But, with a level 2 charger in the garage, I really don't have a problem except when I'm away from home. When I'm on the highway, I do everything you did, but I also put the air on recirculating and set it for "driver only" just to make sure it's not wasting energy. I also just recently did a 5000 mile service, and the software was updated for the brake lights. As others have said, there's a toggle to change the sensitivity for the automatic wipers and I don't seem to have a problem with that.
Very good video, with plenty of attention to detail - thanks for posting it. I have owned my 2023 Electrified GV70 Prestige since May/'23 and I absolutely love it. It's the perfect car for my needs. I am in agreement with the vast majority of your praises and criticisms of the vehicle. Btw... in my e-GV70 there is indeed a light in the glovebox and the front wipers work very well in all modes, including Auto (rain sensing). Keep up the great work! Cheers, Richard
I went ahead and bought the same model Genesis gv70 electrified in the gray color that you were test driving, just like it the only difference being the interior seats are black instead of white. I love this car it's so awesome.
I had/have this exact car. Performance, color, leather and everything. Took delivery a day before the $7500 tax credit ended. Serial number #26. The amp and infotainment center failed and it was in the shop for 120 days and they could never get a part to fix it. Genesis bought it back as a lemon. Bought another one so we will see how this one goes. I had the G80 as a loaner for four months. Looking forward to your review on that. I was getting about 315 miles of range in eco mode driving around town in the G80. The GV70 definitely needs a bigger battery for $75,000 but an iX was $110k
This one of the best reviewed cars I've seen in the EV space. I'm actually surprised by the range considering it has the same size battery as the smaller Ioniq 5 that was built to be an EV and has a lot less horsepower. I would think about buying one used but they are not readily available in my area. The one thing I don't like besides the range is the screen that's long, narrow, a little far back and looks dated to me. The charge port in front seems like a functional advantage if not a little concerning for accidents. I like the normalcy of it, the door handles, buttons, knobs and general design.
Great review and for future reference you can adjust the sensitivity of the rain sensing wipers by adjusting the toggle on the wiper stalk that you use on your Ioniq 5 to adjust your intermittent speed/intervals with your non-rain sensing wipers.
I had just purchased the ICE version of the '23 GV70 (2.5T Advanced), only because the Electrified was not available then. However, I am disappointed when I found out that to get heated steering wheel and Lexicon sound system, I would need to move up to the Prestige package of the EV, where I had those options on the "Advanced" package of the ICE. The Prestige will cost another $6800 on top of an already very expensive vehicle. I do like the clean look of the EV in the rear and don't mind the front grill because this will be so much easier to keep clean than the chrome ICE grill. I love most everything about the GV70 over other brands and would like to stay with Genesis, but may have to look at other upcoming EVs. I do favor Genesis for staying with a joystick besides touch screen. Also, the selective regen braking on the paddle shifters is the best. If Genesis will allow HUD, heated rear seats and Lexicon on their Advanced package of the EV as an option or standard, I'm all in.
This would be my dream EV if I were to get one right now. Doesn't this have OTA updates? The model X came down in price too. This over the GV60 Performance for only $5K more is a no brainer.
At that price point, USB-A is unforgettable. Also, the infotainment display sits too far back from the driver. I also don't like the instrument panel that you can't configure. On my GV60, I have whatever I'm listening to configured in the instrument panel.
I absolutely loved my GV70EV Prestige for the first 10 weeks (and 1,500 miles) at which point electrical issues spontaneously arose and eventually (after the dealership could not fix the car after 7 weeks, including probably unnecessarily replacing the battery pack under warranty at $60k) the car was surrendered to Genesis under the "Lemon Law". A settlement was negotiated to compensate me for my lease payments. Genesis never offered to replace the GV70EV. Genesis customer service was best described as frustratingly unsympathetic and, to some degree, hostile; it was almost impossible to communicate in a business-like fashion. It's quite laughable that Genesis markets itself as providing "The Genesis Experience" as though the customer is treated as anything close to being valuable. Despite this very unsatisfactory experience, we remain completely loyal to the Hyundai Group, as I have now switched to the Kia Sorento PHEV to replace the GV70EV and my wife is currently driving her 4th Hyundai Santa Fe. It's really a shame that my experience with the GV70EV was ultimately a failure, as this was, without doubt, overall the most satisfactory experience that I've had in 60+ years of driving.
No space for it as it's only a compact car. We need to wait for better battery tech to mature more. Once they start using solid state batteries it will be a lot better.

Tesla model 3 now comes with a heat pump. Good luck. I think you would have been way better with a Tesla. My3 or Y.
And you could have bought a new Tesla cheaper

We test drove one and were amazed with the 3.8 second 0-60! It is a total sleeper.

Love my Electrified GV70!

I like very much this video. Well presented and a lot of informations. Thanks Corbin.
Cant wait to get the new one with the oled display and back monitors for the passengers !

I would wait for the next generation platform for a three row SUV. Bigger Boot and a 90kWh battery a must at this price point.
Nice GV70 will check it out…just not sure about the range though

What exactly OBD (Veepeak BLE or BLE+) are you using and what app are you using? Thank You?

Have an older G90. Looking at this or the new G90.
Would be interested in a review of the new Niro EV. Come on KIA help him out 😂
Do these cars have walkaway locking doors? That pssd me off abt my Hi5. And i believe EV6 doesnt either.
No cars from Hyundai/Kia do.
Can the trunk auto open upon walking close to it? I know older genesis models do that as well as the ioniq 5
It does. Takes about 2 seconds before it starts to open
The smaller 77 kWh battery is disappointing, I would be much more likely to buy this car if they added at least a 100 kWh battery

Eh… it’s right in line with the rest of the small SUVs out there, almost exactly the size of a Model Y really.
I have to say best thing about this is that it looks like a regular car.
For sure!
Honestly. That’s a major thing holding me off going full BEV at this point, (I’m already 90% of the way there in a PHEV)
Looks street legal.
