I was trouble shooting my non oil pressure in my Denali after a few mistrials this is my next thing and had the same issue of not being able to remove the pcv valve. Luckily I have a LS engine that I’ve been taking about to get a better I’m understanding of engines but it has the removable pcv valve. So thankful for seeing this before I really even started to dig into getting the one off that isn’t removable. Thx!
The PCV in your original valve cover **is** a replaceable part. Apply heat around it, and it will pull out. GM Part number 12567915. Also valve covers are a lot cheaper at Rock Auto. GM Genuine is $126 CAD. Dorman is $76 CAD.
If you're going to replace the valve cover, don't go with a used one. Get the updated model that GM came out with just a couple of years ago. Dorman has a version for less than a hundred bucks. This corrects the design defect in the PCV baffle which caused oil to leak out thru the PCV valve which caused oil consumption. This updated valve cover is the way to go. Kills two birds with one stone. You get a brand new PCV valve and an updated valve cover which prevents the oil consumption.
The non-removable style is a fixed orifice, not a metered weight with a spring. Clean the valve cover and orifice, and that's about it. If you heat the new style, I've seen a TY'er remove it.
Not a part of it. I took one out today. Terribly hard but got to use sharp screwdriver and hammer and work it out like a bearing cover. It isn’t a valve though, just a small hole through fitting. Mine was completely clogged. I drilled it out. Not sending that crap into my engine anymore. Complete failure by Gm. Lot of gas, brake cleaner, carburetor cleaner and air to get all the gunk from behind that plate, but it can be done.
Maybe maybe not, I had an oil leak from the sending unit of an 2004 5.3L it was the first sign of my problems occurring after the second time it blew out. Then it was the valve cover gaskets. Now I have to fix a lot more than the Pcv valve now. 🤦♂️
i have an ‘06 sierra K1500 4.8L. my valve cover looks like the cateye in the video. Does the pcv valve come out or not?? I cant get it to budge. btw, all the parts stores say it pops out, including rock auto.
Nope. All 2004-2006 Vortec engines have the PCV valves built into the valve cover, this includes all Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Sierra, Silverado and Escalade. You need to replace the valve cover if you want a new PCV... OR take off the cover, drill out the old PCV, and install a rubber PCV grommet from 99-03, along with a fresh PCV valve.
It helped yet it ruined, I suspected that my 05’ PCV valve can not be replaced unlike the earlier models and after a couple videos I confirmed it and now I don’t know what to do and Im frustrated
Well I’m trying to remove that part too… guess what…. That’s not the PCV valve.. it’s just a breather…. And I got it out… pryed it out with a short screwdriver… the PCV valve is somewhere else
Según de ese año vienen como sellados y para poder quitar tienes que quitar todo el cover y hacerle un hoyo con taladro para poder quitar la válvula vieja yo digo q mejor cambiar toda la tapadera sería mejor
Don't have to swap out the valve cover just need to man tf up and pull the pcv valve out GM GENUINE 12567915 is the part number its a tight fit but it does come out and no ones even considering paying hundreds for a flipping valve cover when there a bazillion aftermarket covers for an LS engine family . Videos like this clog up youtube with misinformation because the person making it is clueless .
I have an 05 Tahoe. It’s pressed in, and yes they are just an open part now. Got the replacement from rock auto. I took the valve cover off and hit it off from the inside cover. Came out and new one in

So what did you do

The updated cover for the same year or newer year?
Great video learned something new thanks.

Can you tell what size engine you had and what year was
Would a bad pcv valve cause oil leak down back side of motor?
Following
Same
Yes it will fixing mine now .

Not to my knowledge though, not that I have seen.
So I can just take a valve cover with the removable pcv valve off an 03 5.3 and put it on my 04 cateye?
I guess as long as you already have a 5.3, I wish he set them side by side
Badass video.... 👍
switch the valve cover from previous models (before 04) so that you pcv is serviceable it *took him awhile too say that*

@@castleclubclipzif that’s the case why are they just selling the part #Gm 12567915 if it’s part of the casting of the valve cover.

My pcv vavle it's not removable but how can I test it to see if it's bad
Would a bad pcv valve cause my throttle body to gum up? I’m gonna clean it out with carburetor cleaned and a toothbrush for the second time tomorrow.
Did you ever find out if would cause it to
I have an 03 avalanche 5.3 is it the same as the 03 your talking about? My 03 is a cat eye
I’m going to say that you should have a removable pcv valve
@@whistlinframer6812 ok thanks much appreciated
Gracias mi amigo Muy buen video
This guy doesn't need ladder for repair the engine
Nice
I have an 03 suburban 5.3 ,it's made onto to valve cover,so apparently it's some are,some aren't
The way people junkyard swap parts to save a couple dollars, you never can tell with pre-owned vehicles.
Well I’m trying to remove that part too… guess what…. That’s not the PCV valve.. it’s just a breather…. And I got it out… pryed it out with a short screwdriver… the PCV valve is somewhere else
It has a metered orifice instead of a PCV.
What year and Engine?
I just need rubber hose 😐 my tube is fine idk where can I get it
Junkyard solves all issues, enough said🙄
Gracias eso me va a ayudar
Tengo una tahoe 2004 y no puedo cambiar la balvuvula tendría qe cambiar la tapadera completa no pude le erle su traductor se quita muy rrapido

The pcv is built into the valve on 04-06 vortec 5.3 liter engines
@@Celestial_Being666 its a press fit the valve is steel the cover cast aluminum it will come out

Why does it take you over 4 minutes just to say swap out the valve cover. Get to the point already. Nothing else matters.
honeslty
That sucks. I gotta buy a new valve cover
That part is $80 American
