How to DINK like a PRO (Pickleball)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 вер 2024
- To the naked eye, dinking seems very easy and straightforward. 🎉🏓
As the competition gets better, it gets more and more difficult along with more strategy being involved. 🕹️✅
It’s crucial to practice and master this skill. Having a 10% miss rate is detrimental against good opponents. That is missing 1 in every 10 dinks. 👋🤬
The techniques / strategies listed in the video is EVERYTHING you need to get to the highest level. 💯🔥

Tanner, you are one of the best pickleball instructors online. You did not waste a single breath. Every word is right on point. No Fluff but Stuff! Bravo! 👏👏
Thank you brother!
I'm also impressed.
I like these videos where you give instructions from beginner to advanced. This is something I don’t see other videos showing.
Thanks Scott! I really appreciate this advice! Many more coming. :)
As an instructor really impressed how your able to make a complex topic taught in a simple manner!
Thank you for the kind comment :)
Only thing I’d say is that you definitely want to stay closed to the kitchen line but if you are out into a defensive position then you should definitely move off the kitchen line to give yourself more time to react and get back to neutral
That is correct!!
Thank you, should’ve watched this video before asking you how tightly you should hold your paddle when dinking in a different video. 😊
No worries!
The footwork alone in this video is Golden!!! I didn't even realize my footwork was wrong until this video. Great video man!!!
Thank you so much!
Very good info. Just like tennis, it’s a percentage game. Play the high percentage shots at the beginner level before you do higher risk. That deeper, sharper dink (which is the goal) is definitely a harder shot to hit consistently and more often than not, and rec player will try that and leave it too high and the opponent will be all over it. This is one of those shots where you need to drill it over and over before just going to match play and attempting to put it in action…..
That is exactly it! Well spoken. Hours and hours of drilling to perfect this!
This video is phenomenal. I need to watch it like four more times because it has such a high yield of information!
Thanks!!
Again and again, Tanner you re giving very detailed coaching like no one else does. Thank you!
Thank you so much Kim! I'm glad you find my channel useful! Much more where this has come from.
great teaching!!!
Thank you!
Just watched a Pickleball Playbook video on dinking where he spent a good portion of the video talking about the importance of hitting into the front half of the kitchen (from the net halfway back to the kitchen line), especially defensive shots. So I'm confused now with you saying dead dinks (short in the kitchen) are to be avoided. I'm giving you the nod on this one since I've learned a lot from your videos and I'm not as familiar with the other guys stuff.
Thank you scooter! Tyson teaches the same as me! Pressurized deep dinks is what you want, not shallow.
Great instruction, detailed but not wordy. Thank you.
Exactly! Thanks Ron!
Great tips! I think also keeping the paddle tip down can be helpful for a lot of people.
Very true!
Great video. Just what my wife needs. Already forwarded it to her 😂
Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Love your videos and how you don't milk the video for time. Also, you have very clear concise instructions. Thanks.
You are so welcome!
Terrific information Tanner my man!
Keep up the terrific service to all pickleball players.
Just started 2 weeks ago, and it’s truly become an addiction.

Absolutely love that!! I will keep those videos coming for you!
Very well done Tanner. I’m really enjoying your videos. Has anyone told you that you have mannerisms like Tyson McGuffin? Just don’t
Start with the “teacher” and “student” drills. lol
Haha! Not yet they haven't!! Thank you so much for your kind words :)
Wow! And you named your channel just the way it is "straight to the point". Awesome LOVE IT! great video... keep them coming. I'm a fan!
Thanks brother!! No fluff, if the video is 4:00 long, it will be 4:00 of straight action!
This is an amazing video!!! Incredible!! So articulate about the how-to’s to dinking
Thank you so much I really appreciate this! You will see way more content from me.
The way you described everything in this video was perfection! Looking forward to more of your content! @@tanner.pickleball
Short, sharp, on the money. Perfect advice.
Paul, my favorite kind of comment!!
You are a good player and a good coach. Thanks for
Thanks!!
Finally a lefty doing a pickleball instructional video 👍
Many more where these come from :)
Hi Tanner! Thank you so much for this video! I looked for a while to find one like this. I have a question. What grip are you using for forehand/backhand drops and transition zone? I assume you don't have time to change grip in transition zone?
Answered it on your other thread!
Very nicely done, Tanner. Great tips here. I am sharing this all my tennis friends! ;-)
Thank you so much!! Many more in the making :)
Great vid! Can you make a vid on how to counter pressurized top spin and slice dinks?
Great suggestion! I will do this :)
Great dinking techniques video...watch that auto txt,lol
Thank you! Cheers!
On your topspin video you say to use wrist. I’m confused with dinking on when to use wrist for topspin and when to use shoulder only
Use shoulder for the dollar part. More consistent.
So good 👏🙌🙌🙌!
Glad you think so!
Thank you.
My pleasure!
Thanks!
WOOOO!! Thank you Kim!!! So grateful for this!! WOW!
Good stuff young man... to the point
Thanks brother! All of the videos I pump out will be this same style.. no fluff, directly to the point
Super helpful!!!! You are a natural teacher! Thx
You are so welcome!
Wow very great insights! Can you make more videos like these ?
Thanks!
Thank you 😊
My pleasure! I'm glad you enjoyed!

Well explained. I learned something!
Thank you so much!
Great examples following the explanation
Thank you so much Lance!
Question about the pattern you talk about around 4 minutes in - in the video you have your forehand on the outside and your backhand in the middle. How would that translate if you're dinking crosscourt with someone whose forehand is in the middle? Would you still go after that pattern or would you recommend a different approach?
Same! It would not change. The middle dink is the shot that people struggle on, forehand or backhand!
@@tanner.pickleball makes sense, thanks!
Should you open the face of your paddle when dinking? If so how much? Thanks!
You can, depending on the shot. Being closer is always better since it’s a sharper ball.

"Always move one foot at a time. Never move both feet at the same time." Ridiculous. Down thumb.
I'm confused, watch any professional player and this is the footwork.
@@tanner.pickleball One example is split step: both feet are in the air and come down together. Another example is a jump for a lob.
Shiii I dink like a balla bro
lol
😂
Still waiting for the punch line
hmmm
