- If you want to loosen up your paintings to create a more personal and painterly watercolor, watch this. Juicy and transparent washes make watercolor special as a medium. Join me as I walk you through my process of creating wet into wet granular washes that make a simple landscape subject come alive and glow! The layers of color and light give the painting a vibrancy that is hard to achieve with traditional landscape painting techniques.

My goal is this type of representational, impressionistic, loose paintings. I like the idea of being a "spectator" and just controlling the flow. Sort of like herding cats.

Hi Tonino,,,,muchos gracious!!! Amigo Don
Want to try this with floral.
I love this because i don't draw very well and the washes take center stage❤

Do you have reference photos that you work from? I often wonder how you know where to place your colors.
Hi Patt,,,,I was working from a value sketch! Friend Don
Do you always use flat brushes? If so, why?
Hi Anne, I use both flat and round brushes but these days I do seem to be reaching for the flats more often. I think it's that the rounds tend to make lines, flats tend to make shapes ,great question! Friend Don
@@DonAndrewsAWS thanks for the tip! Must try them..I have them of course, but just never use them
