Wow this kind of stuff completely flips my perspective on drawing pixel art. There’s so many times I’ll look at it and say “that’s ugly” and then within 5 seconds it looks so professional. Thanks for these tutorials!
Went all over the Google image search and video search for almost pointless results, finally found this gem thanks to UA-cam algorithm. Not too many theories, just a simple tutorial in action. Your channel is so underrated, man.

Hey Pete, you are doing an amazing job! Is there a game logo or stylized game title pixelart tutorial in your plan? It is almost impossible to find a tutorial for beautiful game title or game company logo art.
I really like these vids, have watched half a dozen of them. What it always boils down to is this one rule: Always keep in mind the 3 dimensional form of the object.
Bro... where have you been all my life?! Ive watched a couple of your pixel art 101 videos, and I gatta say... the explanations for why youre doing what youre doing is everything. Nobody does that, they just kinda draw stuff and they call that a tutorial. Keep up the GREAT work, I subscribed. Looking forward to more of these types of videos. Can you maybe go into pixel architecture like house walls or ruins, etc? :D Maybe even perspective?
more gb studio tutorials please. specifically: real time combat castlevania style? megaman style shooting? moving platforms for poayer to stand on? stage selection screen? npc following player like pokemon?
i heard gb studio creator is working on a platformer mode for this so if ever it gets release will u do a tutorial? thank u...unity is great but i have gdevelop and godot. although i dont know code
I don't know about your IT skills, but if you haven't gotten a key and you don't want to support the devs with 15 bucks, you'd still have the possibility of compiling Aseprite from source code. You can find Aseprite on GitHub, clone the repository and then compile it.
i found your channel today and your videos really help getting into the techniques! Do you still give out keys for aseprite? I'm looking forward for new tutorials and the game you worked on :)
I found this free pixel art web program called piskel, has anyone had some experience with it and could let me know what I’m missing out on compared to aesprite?
Piskel doesnt have the openness that aseprite does which means eventually you will outgrow the program. It has limitations on size along with an odd color picker. It has no timeline and the selection tool is seizure inducing. I bought aseprite last year after getting tired of piskels limitations and my gosh was it so much better and easier to create art. It felt like I had been handicapped the entire time until I used aseprite.
anyone who dislikes will A.Walk AWAY b.gET STRANGLED TILL UN DISLIKING c.Will be fine Pete choose your answer (BTW great vids finally get views you deserve)
love your vidz have learned a lot from them but i do pixel art in pyxel edit and it is much different (would be nice if you gave me a key as you said you get them regularly) THX in advance !

Yeah it's crazy how it seems, like, blocking and what not looks ugly but the minute you add tiny little highlights, bam, defined.
10:24, thats me watching this video
10:28, thats me trying to draw a bush myself
lol
this is the best comment

thank you!
When I saw you drawing the leaves as 5 pixels, it looked hella dumb but the preview made the leaf explanation click and way more visible
Do you think you'll make a video on character design and/or animating things?
yes for sure!
Your effortless grace belies the incredible grind you must have endured to possess such razor sharp skillage m'lord! ಠ_ರೃ
Ditto
These videos are my new favorite! I already feel like my pixelart is improving!

Great Tutorial! This is helping convince us to buy Aseprite!
This guy is likable and this videos is good..
Every time you start I'm like "This looks horrible" but then it just slowly becomes some top quality bush/rock/whatever

such a good comment
I found this free pixel art web program called piskel, has anyone had some experience with it and could let me know what I’m missing out on compared to aesprite?
I will try it
Aesprite is DRM-FREE lmao. Why not just get aesprite
Piskel doesnt have the openness that aseprite does which means eventually you will outgrow the program. It has limitations on size along with an odd color picker. @@mason3872 So I also have access to photoshop but thought it would be better to use a dedicated program, should I be using piskel or Photoshop?
@@lukej0548 just use aesprite dammit
Damn, man, this is amazing. Especially the last one. Would the technique be same for isometric view tho?
Yes pretty much the same except one side would have a little more light

Just followed you on Twitter 😊

Do you use a stylus when you draw? Any specific one that people like for pixel art?
Pete can you make a house tutorial? I really struggle with those.
like from the outside?
@@PeterMilko Yeah. I can make the inside because of your awesome furniture video but all my houses just look to flat.
Just wondering what is usually your preferred tile measurement 16X16 or 32X32?
16x16
@@PeterMilko Right on, I'll give that a try.
