- This video contains a demo and technical walkthrough of my 1972 Seeburg Olympian jukebox.
I purchased this from an arcade store in Lisle, IL back in 2004 and have had no issues whatsoever. I replaced all audio and control unit capacitors in 2005, which dramatically improved the sound fidelity. My unit is all original with no aftermarket modifications.
As of May 2014, the jukebox works completely fine, but I do have some concerns/worries that the Tormat and or Black & Grey boxes could go bad on me. I don't think something of this age will work forever, considering it contains some very early yet advanced and digital technology.
After editing and uploading (and deleting all my source files of course) I noticed the editing and sequencing is a little crappy. Oh well, it is what it is! - Розваги
I have the same one, same color too. Thankfully, it only broke down once in 4 years which is pretty good. In my opinion, the 70s boxes are awesome looking, they sound good too.
Thank for sharing this video. I was thinking of buying the same one and you convinced me. I love it. Thank from France... ;cP
I have one for sale
excellent demonstration!
I had an orange Olympian. Good sounding machine.
Awesome Jukebox. I Love it. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Brings back great memories seein those Seeburg Jukeboxes or Rock Ola Jukeboxes too from the late 70’s
Hi
I just purchased one.
I love your video I use
It for reference.
Thanks for posting.
thanks!, that was very informative, I bought one a few years ago,in "Magenta", when we mo ed it, some records hit the arm so I have to fix it, but played perfectly when I used to eat BBQ at the place I got it!;)
hi, I used to work on 1970s jukeboxes great times :-)
Might you be interested in buying one like this?..It's in NJ
The pizza hut by me in the 1980-1990 's had that juke box, they had the orange pannels, then swapped them to a sun set with a tree.
Just saw someone buy one of these at the Saugas Swapmeet in So. Calif. and the guy only paid $400.00 bucks for it , needed a lot of work but was nice to see it . You don't see many of these anywhere . These are so cool to have .
springpass I have one in Magenta, was working may want to sell it!
@@richardlucero1265 IF YOU DECIDE TO SELL IT, PLEASE CONTACT ME AT NHENRY8323@AOL.COM....I TRULY NEED IT FOR PARTS. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS..
I have one that's for sale
It's a 1976 model...The Elbow Room & K-Town Tavern in Kenosha, WI., received theirs brand new, in June of that year.
They probably made this model for a few years.
You have a SHP1 amp installed as the SHP3 took away the record equalization and scratch control. I have 2 of these machines. and was my favorite almost 50 years ago!
hey I just bought one of these but the selection buttons don't work. any suggestions? is this a common problem? thanks.
Does anybody know if this one can play small hole 45's?
Great, I got the coin mech to work, now it just keeps playing record after record .so I took to crd out and it still kept playing. any suggesting's?
1973 Seeburg model SPS-160 "The Olympian". Introduced October 1972 for the 1973 model year.
My nephew has one that worked before transport. It now will not pickup records acts like it will but will not. I don't believe the mech was secured when he got it from original owner. Any ideas?
I have a 1972 seeburg and am looking for replacement speakers. Can u tell me where to go. Everywhere I called so far, they say they don’t have them
I have the same model and just started to scan but not grab the record. Any thoughts on repairs?
Hey need info on the needle for this modle.. cant seem to find it.
Hi Mark! Great video! I think you touched on this briefly, but is there an easy way to connect other, external devices to the jukebox's speakers? I'd like to run my turntable's output to the much better speakers of the jukebox.
I am going to re-cap one for a friend. Would you know where i can find schematics for it? They call it Purple Haze
We are having a hard time getting it off continuous playing. Do we need to replace some plugs or press a certain button?
do you mean the record player continuously goes from left to right?
Ahh PacMan Fever Alright!! Remember the song & video game back then!
Hi I have one but it doesn't playing lights are on but it doesn't play what should I do
ISELA IF YOU DECIDE TO SELL, PLEASE CONTACT ME, I HAVE THE EXACT SAME MACHINE AND WOULD LIKE TO BUY ONE FOR PARTS....NHENRY8323@AOL.COM THANK YOU...
Just got one just like yours. but mine is not as bright as yours. what kind of light bulbs are you using?
I just bought a 1974 that has a lot of similar parts & features. Would you happen to have any ideas about how to make sure it's in "free mode"?
Rubber Chicken Films My jukebox has a card that goes in that puts it in free play, I think it goes into the the gray box. I also have another card that goes in that has soldered jumpers which then causes the unit to charge specific prices. So you’ll need that card or the wiring diagram to resolve.
@@davismv Great! Thanks for the info!
Do you still have this machine, and if so could you measure the rear access panel and post those post those numbers. I have the same box but it is missing that panel. It would be easier to find if I knew the exact measurements. thank you..
Jim Mayer Yes, I will get the measurements and post them here. Just to confirm, this is the removable metal panel on the back?
I bought one in BBQ place I used to eat at, worked great till we moved it, now the arm won't pick up the records, how can I fix it?
RICHARD IF YOU GET TIRED OF IT, PLEASE CONTACT ME, NEED IT FOR PARTS...I HAVE THE EXACT SAME MACHINE.....NHENRY8323@AOL.COM THANK YOU
Any luck same issue here?
I didn't hear the popularity meter click after the tone arm landed on the record.
If the top door on mine won’t open what do you think the issue would be?
It’s hard to tell my guess is that it’s off track. Did the door open before? Has it ever open properly?
Do you buy them? We have the same exact one except it won't pick up the record EVERYTHING else works n it worked until we moved it
assume video, I have the same one mine is orange Seeburg Olympian SPS 160 Jukebox from 1972. how do I get the coin mech to work?
In order to get the coin mechanism to work, there is a card that gets plugged into one of the gray or black boxes I forget which one. There is a FreePlay card and then another one which has the settings. Once you put it in, then, the coin acceptor should start working and registering
It’s possible that there is no card for FreePlay. I can’t remember but I definitely have a plug-in module. It’s like a flat cartridge.
@@davismv thanks for the info it looks like the card is missing in the black box
Do you use your set of orange inserts? Would you be willing to sell them if not?
Button on left side
thanks!, that was very informative, I bought one a few years ago,in "Magenta", when we mo ed it, some records hit the arm so I have to fix it, but played perfectly when I used to eat BBQ at the place I got it!;)
