Also, plenty of people bring up that and other things to discredit Patrick, from Taylor Swift to the fact he’s never won without Andy & Travis to this point(previously he had never played a true road playoff game).

As a Giants fan I have to agree with our 2011 team being the worst Super Bowl champions, our defense was terrible (although they did admittedly play much better in the postseason) and we had the worst rushing attack in the NFL. Eli and our receivers did a good deal of the heavy lifting that season and the team got hot at the right time, although we were certainly lucky we avoided having to go to the Super Dome and play the Saints (a team who’d demolished us in the regular season) in the NFCCG. The 2007 team being ranked second to last is a bit more contentious though. Yes, they were only 10-6, Eli’s quarterbacking was pretty hot and cold until the playoffs, and we frankly got a number of lucky bounces, but the team was also just very well-rounded. We had a great offensive line plus both a 1,000 yard receiver and running back, with a top five rushing attack to boot. The defense was ranked middle of the pack in terms of points per game and per drive, but we also had a terrific front seven which led the league in sacks including two double digit sackers (Tuck and Osi) plus the veteran Strahan. Plus, maybe some homerism but I just feel knocking off the only undefeated team in the 16 game era is a pretty big added boost. I personally would’ve put them over the 2012 Ravens, 1980 Raiders, 1970 Colts, 2015 Broncos, and 2001 Patriots, but again likely some homerism there.
@@jackinwestchester4455 We were 25th in points allowed, 27th in yards allowed, 21st in defensive DVOA, *29th* in passing yards allowed (20th in NY/A), 19th in rushing yards allowed (23rd in Y/A), 25th in points per drive and 22nd in yards per drive. Yes they did have a great front seven and the defense as a whole played much better in the playoffs, but there’s not sugarcoating it: the Giants defense during the regular season *was fucking terrible.*
@@jackinwestchester4455 I would appreciate it if you didn’t question my loyalty lmao I’m a diehard fan of the G-Men, I’ll willingly admit that defense was hot garbage until the postseason
A fair assessment, based on my memory. I never got the feeling that the 2011 were a great team per se. But as someone else wrote, better to be the worst of the winners than the best of the losers.
I was ready to be upset if the 91 Redskins didn’t make the top 10 but number 6 is cool with me. It’s the other NFC East teams that should have a beef. The 86 Giants are way too low and the 92 or 77 Cowboys could be moved up a few spots also.
the fact that none of the three super bowl winning 90s Cowboys teams made it into the Top 10 is crazy IMO. Back to back wins against two of the best teams never to win the Super Bowl in the Bills, plus having to contend with really good divisional opponents + having to beat extremely good Steve Young or Brett Favre led 49ers/Green Bay teams in the playoffs each season. Those were dominant teams
This past year was Kansas City’s toughest Super Bowl march after all the dropped passes and lack of discipline to close out the season, all thanks to Spags and the defense
Defense lowkey carried the Chiefs this season and post season. Very different to the other years where it was the Chiefs high powered offense that got them to stomp opponents but it was definitely different this year. Defense did one hell of a job this season but it's not being talked about enough
As a Giants fan, it all looked so familiar to me too; the Chiefs grinded through a tough regular season, were doubted & counted out, they eventually righted the ship in the playoffs, an outstanding defensive unit, were road 'underdogs' in the playoffs, got back to the Super Bowl against a familiar opponent, and won on their last drive of the game with a touchdown....and their MVP QB leading his team to another Lombardi Trophy. 🙂 Sometimes, the best & most memorable Super Bowl-winning seasons are from the teams that had to grind their way through all season to get to the mountain top( or even get BACK there as well ). And the 2023 Chiefs just completed one of their very own. 🙂
Everybody thank NFL Throwback for putting that box in the upper left corner and keeping it up there, because some people like to do things excellently!
They had some luck getting into the playoffs. They even had to convert a 4th and 20+ against the Bolts to go to OT. Plus their defense suffered greatly after Ray Lewis went down with a near season ending injury…
@@JoshuaGramm-ur9re I totally agree. I don't think people are understanding the concept of this list. This list comparing great teams to other great teams. The worst team on this list is still a great team. That 2012-2013 Ravens was great, but not great compared to most of the other teams on this list.
They had a spectacular run in the playoffs that don't mean they were that good during the regular season. Most of these Super Bowl teams on this list was smash the 2012 Ravens.
I’d be curious what statistics they used to rank these teams. My guess it’s stats relative to their peers, as well as individual accolades for all players on the team (Pro Bowls, APs, MVPs, HOFers etc). While the 1972 Dolphins might be the only undefeated team, just due to how the game has changed as well as average player size, speed, and skill set, and rule changes, saying the 1972 dolphins are the greatest all time is silly to me. They are the greatest compared to their peers of that era though.
Wow three 49er & two Steeler apperences in the top 10. I love my Steelers! Plus no Cowboys, Patriots or Ravens in the top 10 a perfect list in my opinion! 😭💀😏
Giants fan Super Bowl 42 and 46 will always be my all time favorite Super Bowls. Both games was epic especially SB 42 when we defeated the goat Tom Brady and the then 18-0 Patriots was truly a special moment ill never forget.
Because he isnt. Most ints among his fellow QBs when he was active, average efficiency stats, close playoff games in both lucky SB runs, just two good seasons, never scoring more than 21 points in a SB. Almost missing the playoffs in both SB years. The facts are there: Eli is no HoFer. Not even close. There are about 120 QBs more justifiable for the HoF than him.
Only ONE early '90s Dallas team even in the top 20?? And NONE in the top 10?? I'm no Dallas fan, but that was an absolute juggernaut of a dynasty - all 3 of those teams belong at LEAST in the top 15, if not top 10. '86 Giants also belong in the top 10 (if not top 5), & '89 9ers should also be up in or near the top 5 as well.
I got a good story….The 2007 Pats were favored to win the Super Bowl against the Giants. But I knew they couldn’t handle that front 4……So I predicted the Pats winning the Super Bowl “by the score of 21-17”.
I honestly think Eli Manning is the most clutch player in Super Bowl history. Yes, Montana was a stone cold killer but he ALWAYS had loaded teams that looked like an All Pro roster. Eli had a pretty weak supporting cast, and yet both times he overcame the Evil Empire in mind blowing fashion.
This is gaslighting to explain why Eli won't be a first ballot HoF, despite STILL holding the record for most passing yards in a single postseason in 2011.
Nah I would agree with their ranking, the 2015 Broncos had an all time great defense but tbh they also did an insane amount of heavy lifting carrying an anemic offense quarterbacked by the corpse of Peyton. They did have two 1,000 yard receivers but outside of Sanders and Thomas their passing attack was generally pretty weak with Manning putting up terrible stats. Brock filled in admirably in his absence but he certainly didn’t put up any gaudy numbers. They also got a huge break by not having to play the Steelers with a healthy AB and banged up Ben.
@@MichaelMurphy-kj3xf The Patriots were actually favored in 2015. And you can say that about a lot of teams. 2016 Pats faced Osweiler Texans and Bell-less Steelers. 2020 Bucs got 7-win Washington, totally done Brees, Packers' backup o-line and Chiefs' third-string OTs.
Agreed. Those who bash this team because they "only" beat the Rams and the Patriots need to remember that bad teams don't make it deep into the playoffs. The 2009 Saints are way too low at No. 27. The Saints beat Kurt Warner, Bret Favre, and Peyton Manning in the playoffs. They also started 13-0 and beat the team that started 14-0.
01 patriots should be last. They filmed the rams run throughs and held on every single play. That was the biggest cheat job in sports history. So bad in fact, the league destroyed the evidence.
As a cowboys from the late 80’s on, the 91 Redskins and the 92 Cowboys should’ve been ranked a LOT higher. That Skins offense threw down some serious points and NOBODY wanted to play them at RFK. The 92 Cowboys are still the team with THE greatest depth of players, especially on D, in history, as well as the greatest offensive line ever. Oh, and Eli Manning, love him or hate him, and I hate the fucking Giants- was CLUTCH. Yea, he barely helped smuggle the giants into the 2007 postseason at 9-7, but he WON when it truly mattered and thanks to him (and Tyree)- prevented everyone from having to hear about “the perfect season” from every Pats fan. Lol.
This is a very interesting look at football history, but the rankings are really, really bad, to the point where it looks like most were decided at random.
2007 Giants beat the #1 seed Cowboys in Dallas, #2 seed Packers in -20 degree weather, then the **undefeated** 2007 Patriots in the Super Bowl. Steve Spagnuolo’s defense led the league with 53 sacks. Every other team in the 50-58 range would get absolutely smacked by them.
I don't know how the hell the '89 49ers are barely tenth on this list. +100 point differential in three playoff games. That may be the craziest team stat I've ever heard of.
Just curious about rating these teams. The NFL 100 was done in 2019, so it was Super Bowl champions from 1966-2018 (New England's last Super Bowl title,) along with other teams in history, dating back to the 1920's. While you can insert KC, Tampa Bay, and LA Rams, how is it, whenever these ratings are done, teams flop around? Example: NFL 100, #3 team is 1978 Steelers. But on this list, they are #4. The 1984 49ers were #4, yet they are #3 on this list. The lowest rated Super Bowl champion was the 2012 Ravens in the NFL 100, but now it's the 2011 Giants. Any explanation @NFL Throwback ?
Some changes are marginal and arguable. The gap between the 1978 Steelers and 1984 49ers is slim, so switching them around is no big deal. However, they completely got it right putting the 2012 Ravens ahead of the 2011 Giants. The Ravens were much better in the regular season, and both teams had nearly perfect SB runs.
Most of the people who are criticizing this guy's list are way off base. They're just picking teams that they liked when they were young. However, you I agree with. The Redskins ( they'll always be the Redskins to me. The Redskins or the Hogs. We didn't they change their name to the Hogs. The Hogs is a much better name than Commanders) that year was a dominant team, even among a long list of Super Bowl winners.
That's what I was saying I can't stand the Washington whatever their team want to be called, but I was like man the 1991 Redskins were blow out the 76 Raiders by like four touchdowns. Heck the 83 Raiders would smashed the 76 Raiders. The 83 Raiders is considered the best Raiders Super Bowl team out of the three.
‘76 RAIDERS had a plus-111 point differential? That was one helck of a lucky 13-1-0 run, 16-1 after winning in the postseason by an average of two TDs per game..
The 1991 Redskins are one of the best teams ever assembled, not doubt. However, this is a foolish take. The 1976 Raiders lost only one game (NE) all year, avenged that loss in the playoffs, beat the crap out of the two-time defending champs in the AFCCG (PIT), and beat the crap out of the Vikings in the SB. At the very least, it'd be a close, tense, fun matchup between two all-time great teams.
I'd like to see a show about the un-modern, or should we say the ancient era of fooball. What made games or players great before the Super Bowl was a thing.
Peytons big regression happened at the end of the year the year prior. Look at his per game stats in 2014, I wanna say it was around 4-5 games left when you all of a sudden saw this huge drop off from peyton in production and arm strength.
Nice to see some love for the '72 Dolphins. But the '73 Dolphins were a lot more dominant in the playoffs, and should probably be much higher on your list. They scored on their first drive in all three games, and none of them were even close. Super Bowl 8 was effectively over after their second drive put them up 14-0.

All good points. 2020 Bucs could def be ranked higher than #46. Remember: KC was still a 3-point favorite, despite the o-line issues.
Patrick was like 2/4 years old when he lost to a Man who had basically beat the game at that point. Plus, the first time he should have won, but they got burned by Dee Ford’s penalty and defunct OT rules. Second time his O-line was nonexistent.
Also, plenty of people bring up that and other things to discredit Patrick, from Taylor Swift to the fact he’s never won without Andy & Travis to this point(previously he had never played a true road playoff game).

Considering the state of that franchise today, just be happy to have those championships!
A real "Giants fan" would never call the 2011 defense "terrible"
The guy who doesn’t get mentioned enough in 2011 is Victor Cruz.
There are very few players who have gotten 1,500 yards and a ring in the same season.
2000 ravens at 34 is disrespectful
Given their offense I think it’s not too unfair.
Part of why their defense is considered so amazing was because of what the offense gave them.

2013 seahawks are way too low, thats legit a top 3 defense of all time
2015 Broncos are way too low. A top-5 all-time defense, two 1,000-yard receivers and Hall of Fame QB. They crushed every offense they faced that year.
Because their defense carried them mostly compared to the offense.
