Hi . I came across this video of his due to a problem and I don't take advantage of his vast experience in case he has a moment to advise me. I have a problem with komplete kontrol mkII. I work with computer window and daw maschine 2; everything up to date including komplete kontrol software with Native access. Everything works except for one "small" detail: the keyboard doesn't play the loaded sounds, and it doesn't seem to send midi signals to the computer. So all the functions (load sounds, mixer, channel selection, play, stop, ... etc go and work the daw) but the keys don't play or record any sound or track. I reloaded the daw and also the diel kontrol software but nothing. In the "controller" dropdown of Maschine 2 kontrol mk2 it is regularly selected, however I realized that if I go to the preferences in the midi setting where I have to select input or output device, in fact, I don't see any device to select. In short, there is something wrong and it seems by deduction both in the operating systems also because I have always connected via USB kontrol mk2 to maschine plus in standalone mode everything works and plays as well; while with maschine plus in controller mode it doesn't work anymore. Can you give me some pointers? I really thank you. Louis

Man im about to buy the S88 MK2 but i got a feeling that the MK3 could come soon? But maybe the release of the 25th Anniversary versions tell us it would be weird to release MK3 versions so quick after
This is the most clear so far, very well explained. But after the scale part, after you turned on Massive and used the KK knob to control Ableton, you lost me. How do I get the encoder knob to control Ableton?
Hi, thanks for your interest! Both of those keyboards are great choices to get started with music production. The biggest difference is going to be the included software instruments. Arturia is more focused on electronic, analog synth-style sounds - while Native Instruments will give you a broader range, including orchestral and world instruments. Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me directly if you have further questions! Caleb Lowrey, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1620, caleb_lowrey@sweetwater.com
Hi Michael, great question! The Komplete keyboards have their own software called Komplete Kontrol which launches separately from your DAW (Maschine or otherwise) in which you can configure the LEDs and other functions. Thanks! Jason Filloramo, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1281, Jason_Filloramo@sweetwater.com
Hello! These Komplete Kontrol mk2 boards can certainly MIDI map and control non NKS VST instruments. The way that you'd set that up is usually particular to your DAW or to the VST you're using itself, but there are lots of UA-cam videos and blogs online that you'll find if you search around, that will explain the setup. If you'd like to go into more detail, please call my number below. Thanks for your interest! Nick LaMendola, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1660, nick_lamendola@sweetwater.com
does this keyboard come with sounds from kontakt that i can use or do i have to install kontakt separately and play the sounds ...because i see massive ...so does the keyboard come with kontakt the vst ...im really confused
Hi, thanks for the interest! All S-series Komplete Kontrol keyboards come with the Komplete Select plug-in bundle, which includes an assortment of sounds from the full Komplete collection - including Massive and some of the Kontakt sounds. The Kontakt plug-in included with this is actually Kontakt Player, not the full version of Kontakt, so you wouldn't be able to do in-depth editing with the included sounds, but it does have a decent selection of sounds to work with. For more info on Komplete Select, check out this link: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Komp13S--native-instruments-komplete-13-select-software-production-suite Feel free to reach out to me directly with further questions, and thanks again! Just saw the Mk2. If it had a touch screen then I would say that it’s a big improvement, but pressing soft keys and twirling knobs is NOT easier than a mouse when it comes to finding presets. A larger touchscreen would have been a game changer because that IS easier than a big screen and a mouse but alas, it’s not to be. Thanks for the demo
MrKKmusic ehhh... touch screen sucks from an engineer standpoint... the mk2 seems to be beer proof and you can clean it/fix it without having to DM Elon Musk on twitter for help
what DAW's actually capture the chords and arps? it looked like even in ableton it was just capturing his single note press and not the full chord. or do those features only work in komplete?
Only in Maschine is it automatically captured. If I needed the Chords and Arps on a MIDI roll in the DAW, you could always create a second MIDI track and point it towards the Komplete Kontrol instance and rerecord the chord information that way.
Wow, Matt; that's a really good thing to know! I know that the DAWs I've dealt with made it so that I had to go through the process twice, and it's great to know that Maschine will put those chords down on the first shot. Again, really good to know. Thanks!
Hi! Can you help me out how can i navigate in Ableton like you did and put the Ableton mixer on the screens? My keyboard arrived today, tried to do it for hours, but couldn't figure it out. Thanks for your help in advance!:)
Sigh ... I gotta now buy this simply because of the instant sample auditioning...which will save me tons of time. Right now, I must double click a preset to load it or down-click the arrow to select a following preset....THEN...trigger the midi keyboard to audition the sample (phew!)
Hi Simen, great question! The Komplete Kontrollers are compatible with M1 Macs and the new OS, as well. Thanks! Jason Filloramo, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1281, Jason_Filloramo@sweetwater.com
Hi, Bob! Great question. The Komplete Kontrol MK2 actually requires at least Windows 10 to operate. So, you're likely not going to have full control of your Komplete software as long as you're running Windows 7. You can find more compatibility information at the following link: support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016227238-What-Is-the-Minimum-KOMPLETE-KONTROL-Software-Version-for-My-KOMPLETE-KONTROL-Keyboard Thanks for reaching out! @@sweetwater Does this midi keyboard allow you to take a sample from Akai mpc 2000 and spread it across the keyboard chromatically kind of like the ASR 10 ???
@@22dividedby7 Hey there! Thanks for reaching out. Yes, you can - but it's a bit different process than what you would do with the ASR-10. Since you aren't loading any samples directly onto the Komplete Kontrol, you have to use their Sampler or Audio Plug-In in order to work with Samples on the controller. These are software that must be downloaded onto your computer. This forum on Native Instruments website seems to have some good information on this process: www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/how-do-you-add-your-own-samples-to-kontakt-running-inside-the-komplete-kontrol-plugin.324223/ Nick Pasquino, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 3230, nick_pasquino@sweetwater.com
I have just recently done a firmware update for my S61and now it's not working in protools. It still works as a stand alone keyboard but none of the light guides work or the Kontrol browser functions in protools. I have searched everywhere online and native instruments website and found nothing to help me with this. It has now been 4 days and I'm ready for throwing everything out the window,,,, any chance of some help?
Hi, John. Thank you for reaching out! If the controller was purchased from Sweetwater, we'd be able to get you to our tech support by calling (800) 222-4700 ext. 6400. Otherwise, I'd try reaching out to Native Instruments directly through their support: support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us Or contact the dealer you had purchased it from. I haven't heard of that happening before, one thing you might be able to try is a factory reset of the board. Justin Sunday, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1966, justin_sunday@sweetwater.com
Hello, Joe! Great question! It comes with a built-in "Chord Engine" using the Smart Play feature, which does things like lighting up the notes of chosen scales, etc., but they don't have any piano/music lesson software. Thanks for the interest! Jorge Padilla, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1731, Jorge_Padilla@sweetwater.com
@@sweetwater Ah ok, thanks. That would be a pretty great feature. And it would probably attract more novices. Maybe something to look forward to in a future update. Cheers.
Hi Konstantinos, great question. It looks like you can hold shift and then press the “Mixer” button to disable that accessibility feature. You can reference sections 3.2 and 3.3 of the manual below for more information on controlling these features: www.native-instruments.com/fileadmin/ni_media/downloads/manuals/komplete_kontrol/KOMPLETE_KONTROL_S-Series_MK2_Manual_English_04_2022.pdf?_ga=2.224919578.1822128745.1676650330-1249657639.1676650330 Jason Filloramo, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1281, Jason_Filloramo@sweetwater.com
Hey, Radolnino! Thanks for your interest. Yes, since it’s a midi controller it’s using the sound library that you have loaded on your PC, so you would need to have it connected to your computer via USB for the advanced features and control. You could use just the MIDI output to control other external midi equipment without connecting to a PC if you get one of the optional DC power supplies. I hope this helps! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about these. Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com
I was hoping for a 25 key version of this :/ 3:05 - it only shows the notes you pressed, not the chord that was played, sad NI hasn't fixed this. There is a work around, but it's a pain.. lots of clicking.
Hi there. That is a great question! The keyboard won't have any sounds loaded on the controller itself, it will just allow you to navigate within the library that comes with the keyboard, which is the Komplete Select. You will be able to upgrade the library as well to gain access to more and more sounds. Let us know if you have any other questions! Maryann Shirley, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1774, maryann_shirley@sweetwater.com
Is it normal that NONE of this makes sense? I have had the keyboard for a year and haven't got one single sound out of it. Is there a basic video for setting it up that you could use with your grandmother and she would understand?
Can you make a beat on the spot with just the keyboard?, i have a gig coming up and and i usually play piano but i wanted to add some different sounds and drums. Can it work as like a loop pedal or no?
Hey, Joe. Thank you for checking out our UA-cam video. The Komplete Kontrol keyboards will work with Studio One. If you have an older artist version that cannot support the VST instruments then that would be a problem, but the Studio One 5 and all of the professional versions will support it. Thanks, Grant Embury, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1647, Grant_embury@Sweetwater.com
Hi there. That is a great question! The "Metro" button is used to turn the metronome on and off through the controller. Let us know if you have any other questions! Maryann Shirley, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1774, maryann_shirley@sweetwater.com
Hey, Leifer! Thanks for the note. Great question! It completely depends on what you're going for. Both are fantastic (and both companies are wonderful partners with Sweetwater). Give me a call and we can chat further about this. Cheers, Josh Kattner, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1689, Josh_kattner@Sweetwater.com
Hello! You do not need a separate synth to use Komplete Kontrol, all you need is a computer. You may want to add an audio interface, but that would be a separate optional device. If you'd like to go into more detail, please call my number below. Thanks for your interest! Nick LaMendola, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1660, nick_lamendola@sweetwater.com
Hi, Nolan! The Komplete Kontrol MK2 should work with FL Studio for some basic MIDI functions. But at this time, only the MK1 would have full integration with FL Studio. You can check out this link to see how it is set up: support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/212543965-Setting-up-FL-Studio-for-the-KOMPLETE-KONTROL-MK1-Keyboard If you have any other questions on it, give us a call! Hi, Luckas. Great question! The Komplete Kontrollers can be used with any DAW, including FL Studio. The control functions and sounds on the keyboard are the Native Kontrol and the Komplete VST software, which is run simultaneously with your DAW. Feel free to reach out with any other questions. Thanks! Jason Filloramo, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1281, Jason_Filloramo@sweetwater.com
I waited 2 months for mine to come in . Guess what it finally came but it doesnt work properly. 2 KEYS dont function no sound when you trigger them , either on stand alone or vst . Also its lame that the scale editor works only if you use it inside komplete kontrol software. On the other hand push 2 scale modes work on any vst. Not impressed at all .
It’s absolutely rubbish if you use Kontakt 5 or 6 as a multi out on your DAW to save CPU. The Komplete kontrol has to be open as a parent wrapper folder around kontakt 5 and has only a stereo out bus. So for all you people who have kontakt5 32 out set as a preset you don’t get functionality. It’s an absolute disgrace that NI haven’t linked the light key up with kontakt 5 using the keyboard as a midi controller. For god sake this thing cost £500.
i have the impressions that pros watch the review, but the review shows only things inetresting for amateurs. So for me is still not clear why to buy this. The main reason is because it looks like the best, but not clear. There are no faders, and a Clavinova has better keys. The 3 controllers at the left side looks great idea. And if the colors are really customizable for many different uses, like for channels, this is a key feature of this keyboard. TO navigate on Kontakt i use the mouse man...
I'm a Dweeb - I've gone from thinking a $200 M-Audio to a $900 Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S49 Mk2...because it has a "weee screen" & shitload sound library - but I have a guitar & amp I don't use so...L&M better play nice - cheers
NATIVE INSTRUMENTS ? you kidding me ? the worst Customer Support on the world ! BTW: not all the mappings are programmed, this is a lie! there is lots of crap in the software and dealing with the company = no help
S61 & A61 have the worst keybeds I ever played as a Pianist. Alesis Keys are also useless but it conly costs 100€ so wtf. Komplete Kontrol Keybeds are the worst....try Keylab MKII or even Korg Microkey (The Feeling of playing is smooth and fast) - NI Playing is for no-skill Humans, who play one note with one finger and just want to look big in their studios. terrible Quality and the Noise the S61 makes when the Key Springs back to place...wtf? 😂 I played Piano on Yamaha & Steinway and I love the modern Yamaha Keybed. I also hate the Nord Lead A1 Keybed / Hydrasynth Keybed is smooth but too slow for Lead-Lines. System 8 or JP8800 both terrible Keybeds....but NI is on the TOP 3 of the worst Keybeds I ever played. Fatar hin oder her - Try Keylab MK2 or Hydrasynth. Then we talkin 😎

Which one should I be choosing komplte control mk2 or arturia keylab mk2, learner here
Hi, thanks for your interest!

I love the new board, definitely getting it, but will you guys ever develop a compatible software suite for ios?
I noticed that the mixer levels can be multicolored. Does this only work with machine that they change color?
Hi Michael, great question! The Komplete keyboards have their own software called Komplete Kontrol which launches separately from your DAW (Maschine or otherwise) in which you can configure the LEDs and other functions.
Thanks!

How about non nks instruments? Like spitfire or east west? What will all be controllable? Saw controls, keyboard, mixer? Thanks

Is Studio One 4 possible to Work? Greetz
How can you map your instrument from ableton to the komplete kontrol knobs?
Love mine too❤🎉
does this keyboard come with sounds from kontakt that i can use or do i have to install kontakt separately and play the sounds ...because i see massive ...so does the keyboard come with kontakt the vst ...im really confused
For more info on Komplete Select, check out this link:

..have you used the Komplete Kontrol MK2? no? Then shut up.
Yep, and X/Y pad would be great!
what DAW's actually capture the chords and arps? it looked like even in ableton it was just capturing his single note press and not the full chord. or do those features only work in komplete?
Only in Maschine is it automatically captured. If I needed the Chords and Arps on a MIDI roll in the DAW, you could always create a second MIDI track and point it towards the Komplete Kontrol instance and rerecord the chord information that way.
yep thats how i do it, if I want all notes captured.
Wow, Matt; that's a really good thing to know! I know that the DAWs I've dealt with made it so that I had to go through the process twice, and it's great to know that Maschine will put those chords down on the first shot. Again, really good to know. Thanks!
has the designer for abletons ui died or what. this is so 70s that my eyes bleed like habanero.

Right now, I must double click a preset to load it or down-click the arrow to select a following preset....THEN...trigger the midi keyboard to audition the sample (phew!)
komplete kontrol s88 mk2, does it work with m1 pro? komlete Kontrol does. so the hardware should too?
Hi Simen, great question! The Komplete Kontrollers are compatible with M1 Macs and the new OS, as well.
Thanks!

how to disable voice assistance with the mk2 keyboard
Can I use with with Pro Tools 11 on my Windows 7 for controlling my Kontakt sample library? Will all those key switches LEDs work as well?
Hi, Bob! Great question. The Komplete Kontrol MK2 actually requires at least Windows 10 to operate. So, you're likely not going to have full control of your Komplete software as long as you're running Windows 7. You can find more compatibility information at the following link:

@@sweetwater Does this midi keyboard allow you to take a sample from Akai mpc 2000 and spread it across the keyboard chromatically kind of like the ASR 10 ???
@@22dividedby7 Hey there! Thanks for reaching out. Yes, you can - but it's a bit different process than what you would do with the ASR-10. Since you aren't loading any samples directly onto the Komplete Kontrol, you have to use their Sampler or Audio Plug-In in order to work with Samples on the controller. These are software that must be downloaded onto your computer. This forum on Native Instruments website seems to have some good information on this process:

I have just recently done a firmware update for my S61and now it's not working in protools. It still works as a stand alone keyboard but none of the light guides work or the Kontrol browser functions in protools. I have searched everywhere online and native instruments website and found nothing to help me with this. It has now been 4 days and I'm ready for throwing everything out the window,,,, any chance of some help?
Hi, John. Thank you for reaching out! If the controller was purchased from Sweetwater, we'd be able to get you to our tech support by calling (800) 222-4700 ext. 6400. Otherwise, I'd try reaching out to Native Instruments directly through their support: support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us
Or contact the dealer you had purchased it from. I haven't heard of that happening before, one thing you might be able to try is a factory reset of the board.

How's it control other synthesizer modules? ex: behringer deepmind 12D, arp odyssey module, etc.
The key lights seem like a great idea for learning to play music. Can you load in songs and have the notes/chords light up so you can follow along?
Hello, Joe! Great question! It comes with a built-in "Chord Engine" using the Smart Play feature, which does things like lighting up the notes of chosen scales, etc., but they don't have any piano/music lesson software.

how can i turn off the voice guide i get when i make any change in the controls?

Must be always connected to PC or sound card?
Hey, Radolnino! Thanks for your interest. Yes, since it’s a midi controller it’s using the sound library that you have loaded on your PC, so you would need to have it connected to your computer via USB for the advanced features and control. You could use just the MIDI output to control other external midi equipment without connecting to a PC if you get one of the optional DC power supplies.
I hope this helps! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about these.

I was hoping for a 25 key version of this :/ 3:05 - it only shows the notes you pressed, not the chord that was played, sad NI hasn't fixed this. There is a work around, but it's a pain.. lots of clicking.
Is there a note repeat button or erase on this controller for machine?
Pro Tools Fam yes
what version of Komplete does it come with?
The S Series includes Komplete Select, latest version
Do I have to have Ableton to use this Keyboard Controller
Not at all. It works with almost any DAW, or even without one if you use Komplete Kontrol, which should be included.
Are the 22000 sounds already saved in the keyboard?
Hi there. That is a great question! The keyboard won't have any sounds loaded on the controller itself, it will just allow you to navigate within the library that comes with the keyboard, which is the Komplete Select. You will be able to upgrade the library as well to gain access to more and more sounds. Let us know if you have any other questions!

i can't access to touch strip in the 1.9.1 version
it doesn't have an audio interface?!?!
No one talks like that to The Machine!
Sean Douris I think that might be the best story in comedy.
Is it normal that NONE of this makes sense? I have had the keyboard for a year and haven't got one single sound out of it. Is there a basic video for setting it up that you could use with your grandmother and she would understand?
Is FL Studio supported?
Pitrus no
Basic functions are supported
Can you make a beat on the spot with just the keyboard?, i have a gig coming up and and i usually play piano but i wanted to add some different sounds and drums. Can it work as like a loop pedal or no?
Is it kompatible with Studio One ???
Hey, Joe. Thank you for checking out our UA-cam video. The Komplete Kontrol keyboards will work with Studio One. If you have an older artist version that cannot support the VST instruments then that would be a problem, but the Studio One 5 and all of the professional versions will support it.
