JenniferESL Yes, I will! once more, thank you! I met your channel recently. I'm enjoying it a lot! I'm from Brazil!
Thanks a lot for the lesson,Jennifer.
I am going to learn how to speak English frequently even if it kills me.
My try is
1 Should you require further assistance, let a member of our support staff know.
2 Had they budgeted an adequate amount, they would have been prepared for his emergency.
3 Hadn't we taken the time to train our employees, the crisis would have been mishandled.
4 Were you to face a similar situation, would you do anything differently?
5 Weren't she so adventurous, she would have thought twice before going there.
Good example. You might change "how to" to "try to" > I am going to try to speak English frequently even if it kills me.
I'll confirm answers in the bonus task in the next lesson.
I am Arabian and we study English in school and I always watch your videos, it helps me a lot 💜

I have had this topic before. Now, I understand beber. Thanks, Miss Jennifer. By the way, I Will keep watching your videos, the next part. Thank you very, very, very much.
Wonderful! I'm creating Lesson 11 now, so you'll see it later today. :)

I'm going to be fluent in English even if it kills me.
1. Should you require further assistance...
2. Had they budgeted an adequate amount...
3. Had not we taken the time to train our employees...
4. Were you to face a similar situation...
5. Were not she so adventurous...
I liked very much this format and interaction. Greetings, Jennifer! 😊
Great example. Thanks for doing both tasks! :)
Hi Jennifer. Thank for this informative video. 👍✌
Yes, I did. Learning English has been always my goal since I was a child.
• I am going to learn spoken English with you even if it kills me. 😂
Bonus task:
1. If you should require further assistance, let a member of our support staff know.➡ Should you require further assistance, let a member of our support staff know.
2. If they had budgeted an adequate amount, they would have been prepared for this emergency.➡ Had they budgeted an adequate amount, they would have been prepared for this emergency.
3. If we had not taken the time to train our employees, the crisis would have been mishandled.➡ Had we not taken the time to train our employees, the crisis would have been mishandled.
4. If you were to face a similar situation, would you do anything differently?➡ Were you to face a similar situation, would you do anything differently?
5. If she were not so adventurous, she would have thought twice before going there.➡ Were she not so adventurous, she would have thought twice before going there.
Hi Ra'ed. Ha ha. You'll get there. Learning spoken English won't kill you, but it will push you to find resources. I think recordings of news shows with panels would help since they hold small group discussions. There are interviews on NPR.org that model good English too. You can balance that with sitcoms and movie clips.
I won't confirm answers now to the bonus task, but please take a look at my note to Françoise Dufort below about contractions. Take care!

Hi Jennifer! Great lesson again!
Here is my task:

2. Had they budgeted an adequate amount, they would have been prepared for this emergency.
3. Hadn't we taken the time to train our employees, the crisis would have been mishandled.
4. Were you to face a similar situation, would you do anything different?
5. Weren't she so adventurous, she would have thought twice before going there.
See you next time!
Hi Françoise. It's too early to confirm answers, but I'll tell you that you need to be careful with contractions. Keep in mind these inverted conditionals are more formal. (That's a hint.) Talk to you again soon.
Fantastic! Hat's off! IO think you are more than an excellent teacher, an unique one. Luca from Italy
Thank you! 😃 I appreciate your kind words. Regards!
Hi Jennifer, this is my sentence
I have to go thoroughly these chapters for my exam tomorrow even if it causes me to stay late tonight. Please check is it correct? Thank you Jennifer.
1. should you require further assistance , let a member of our support staff know.
2. (my sentence) Had I asked for an appointment, I won't spent whole day to wait to see the dentist.
Note the punctuation too:
1. Should you require further assistance, let a member of our support staff know.
2. Had I asked for an appointment, I wouldn't have to spend the whole day waiting to see the dentist. (present/future)
OR ... I wouldn't have had to spend the whole day... (past)
Good luck!
Thank you very much Jennifer. May God bless you, your family and all your works.
As for your first example, you might say:
I have to go thoroughly through these chapters for my exam tomorrow even if it means staying up late tonight.
Many thanks for your new clip.

@@Englishwithjennifer btw, can I use "had it not been..." in making conditional statements? Thank you!
Yes, inverted conditionals can be formed with the past perfect:
If it hadn't been for you... = Had it not been for you.
Inversion sounds more formal.
@@Englishwithjennifer ok thank you so much! This will help a lot in constructing my short essay with conditional statements in it!

Can I ask you a question: about letter 'u' in the word subject and subscribe. Why do we pronounce it different?
They're basically the same sound, but SUBject stresses the first syllable, so we use /ʌ/. SubSCRIBE stresses the second syllable, so we use /ə/.
Thank you, great explanation. Can you give me some more samples the words with letter 'u' used in the first syllable and second syllble. Thank you......
Notice how UPSET can be read as upSET or UPset depending on the part of speech. Dictionaries tend to use the same phonetic symbol for "u" regardless of where the stress is. www.learnersdictionary.com/definition/upset
I am going to learn English and speak it fluently even if it kills me😊
You can do it! :)
Good example.
Always moving forward...Avant, Avant as they say in French.

Hello, I have a question, what should I do if I have to inverte a a phrase with could or can and, I don't know should it is correct to ask this but what should I do if I have to reduce an adverb clause that has auxiliaries (would, could, will, etc.)?
With the conditionals, we only invert with WERE, SHOULD, and HAD (past perfect):
Were I in a position to help, I would. (If I were in a position)
Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. (If you should have/ If you have)
Had we known, we could have planned better. (If we had known)
Reducing adverb clauses is common when there's a form of BE, and then we're left with a present or past participle:
Please keep your seat belt fastened while seated. > while you are seated
Reduction is also common with verbs in the simple present or past:
After exercising, people usually shower. > after they exercise
Not knowing what to do, I stood there motionless. > Because I didn't know what to do.
You wouldn't have "will" in an adverb clause referring to the future. We only use the simple present.
I don't think WOULD and COULD are frequently used in adverb clauses of time and reason. Most likely we'd keep the full clause and not reduce it.
If you think of a specific example, let me know. ;)
thanks to answer, the reason why i asked that i had an english test and there was a adverb cause-effect clause with could/can i could not invert so i just wrote the main verb.

As for the bonus task, hint: the negative contractions aren't a good choice for more formal English, and inversion is generally more formal.
I will go mountain climbing next weekend even if it kills me.

Ha ha. I could never play like Sam, by the way. The piece of music that I was holding in the video was a ragtime song. I'm also trying to learn a jazz tune called "Satin Doll." Do you know it? It's out of my comfort zone, but I'm going to do my best to learn them both.

I thought it was unlike you to forget my name. I see the reason now. My You Tube name was a name I picked from out of the blue, but it seemed to work and made way for my Stunning Teacher tag.
I will try and find the pieces of music you mentioned on You Tube. All I ask is from you is to play the Going Away tune which featured at the end of the Incredible Hulk:ua-cam.com/video/Z_1SC0j1ShY/v-deo.html
I have a pretty good memory for online names.
I'll try to listen to that tune later today. :)
The link will show a slideshow matching the music, but it isn't me playing the tune :>)

JenniferESL Sorry Jennifer I don't understand which sentence?
3 and 4. (hadn't/weren't)
Hi Jennifer, Thanks for your note, but I have an inquiry about sentence #4, We suppose to say " wasn't she" not "weren't she", right?
Hello Jennifer
Appreciate your works :)
I found something interesting use of conditional sentence.
In below link, he is using conditionals with "but for".
ua-cam.com/video/4bC_xeo4Ttc/v-deo.html
I think it is used instead of "if it had not been for sth". Is that right ?
And also there is a counterpart of this structure in the other time frame(unreal present), which is "if it was not for sth".
Could you please help me with your words if I am wrong about this type of structures ?
Many Thanks
Hi. You can use the past perfect (If it hadn't been for...) or simple past form "were" (If it weren't for...) to note a result that was possible because another thing was prevented. More examples: www.macmillandictionary.com/us/dictionary/american/if-it-were-not-for-if-it-had-not-been-for
Many thanks to you...
you have just broadened my mind regarding this subject :) I have never thought about it in terms of "preventive meaning"... hmm , just got it...

Had we not taken the time to train our employees, the crisis would have been mishandled.
"This one confused me a bit": the 5th sentence seems strange, a she were combination.
Hi. The idea in the sentence about training people is that there was a crisis and the employees handled it well, thanks to their training. The company is thankful that they took the time to train their employees to handle such situations. The conditional is an unreal conditional about the past.
As for the other one, any unreal conditional about the present or future that uses the verb BE as the main verb must use the subjunctive WERE for all subjects. You have have heard this in the conversational way to give advice: If I were you.../ If I were him.../ If I were her...
