Watching the trailers I got the suspicion that this game was made by people who played a lot of Uncharted and Forespoken and tried to spin up their own version. I see it a lot on the indie scene, where some indie devs try to reproduce a classic like Chrono Trigger without understanding what really made it click.
Games that have the story and gameplay so jarringly separate has always bugged me... It's an interactive medium; the actual 'interacting' bit shouldn't be just some thing you do between cutscenes that doesn't affect the story.
Hell yeah, this looks exactly like the energy I miss from the PS3/360 era. Did they say how long it’s supposed to be? I’m hoping it’s a brief adventure like games of that time.

Ok. It got a better score than Epic Mickey, which got high ratings elsewhere. Even if I have to say, that noisy pixels review of Mickey totally nailed it. Sad to see, that Unknown 9 gets a lot of weak scores. I bought it and will try it out, I have some hidden gem hopes.

I don’t think Haroona is a “girlboss” here, but she is a decent character on a foundation. If anything she doesn’t have any emotion and she barely reacts to any situation as if she sees it every day.

the review starts informing us that the devs are building a multiverse that connects to each other. then starts complaining why the game is not showing you the origins i believe that .. the game is meant to be played "just like Devil May Cry original trilogy" meaning? the game is NOT where the story started. you need first to seek Haroona's lore herself, through the game original trailer "where she used her powers for the first ever time" the comic that's downloadable for free, that explains Haroona's background story. the audio books, the website puzzles, the other unknown 9 comics about how the unique individuals will unite together to change the fate of the world. treat "awakening" as a part of Haroona's story. NOT the origins. as for comparing it to Devil May Cry.. it's because Devil May Cry originally began as a novel, then became the "alternate story and style of resident evil 4's infamous alternate set up" before it was completely transformed into Devil May cry. both media are built on a multiverse.

TLDR: giving a dislike here. _________________________________ PS3 / Xbox 360 games were often genuinely GOOD. The Uncharted franchise, the Infamous franchise, the Arkham franchise (sans Knight, which came out on the PS4), the Ezio trilogy in Assassin's Creed, the Gears of War trilogy, The Puppeteer, etc.. A lot of those games still hold up in terms of mechanics, art design, writing, and overall fun factor. Hearing you repeatedly use them to excuse this janky, sup-bar, mediocre garbage is grating. "I'm a fan of this genre. The animations look great... for a PS3 era game. The gameplay is fine... for a PS3 era game. It's the best PS3 game of 2024" This game would have SUCKED even back in the PS3 / Xbox 360 era. It's an uninspired SBI mess. If the best and only half-hearted praise you can give this trash involves heaping unwarranted derision upon far superior products, maybe you shouldn't have even bothered in the first place. You might not with this. The graphics are inconsistent across scenes, paired with the also inconsistent stage design and enemy AI. I’m not sure why haha but it’s way more annoying than anything consultation did to this game 😂 and I also hope for the sake of the developers, there wasn’t another game lost to consultation under all this. I hope this is the story they really wanted to tell. You can’t be sure what areas of a game receive consultation unless they tell you, I am curious now.

However, SBI has had such a negative influence on games, plus other companies like them, that we shouldn't ignore them. By putting your head in the sand, the problem doesn't go away, it only gets worse, hence why so many don't want SBI, or others influencing the games industry
Yes, Kim Belaire, the CEO of SBI, was responsible for the writing in this game from the very beginning. So, all of these people that call people mindless drones for not wanting SBI involved in games, here's a game that gives proof to the poor quality of their writing.
