  • Nina McKinney's was Hollywood's first, Black superstar from a Charlotte, NC area city. She achieved great success with very meager beginnings. She was known for her beauty and talent.

    Thanks for this wonderful video about Nina McKinney..I've known about her for many years..hope this video introduce her to a new generation...Pinky was one of my Mom's favorite films & remember seeing it with her on late night TV as a kid..She's in a great small all black film called The Black Network Of 1936 which can be found here on You-Tube..she has top billing the Nicholas Brothers & her leading man Babe Wallace round out a wonderful small film...If this small film could have been a full length feature ..it would have been a knock out of a musical.. Nina McKinney was truly a STAR ..she kind of reminds me of Rihanna...

    You are mispronouncing her first name. She and her family pronounced her first name as Nine-Nuh (9-Nuh) NOT Neena.

      She was born less than 60 years after slavery. That might be the master of the plantation blood showing up. And yes, she is very beautiful.

      @@thehistorylover8353 im mixed race in winter i pass white in summer more arab or black but im not beautifull like her .

      Well we do know how beautiful black slave women were unmixed. The white slavers had lots of forced sex with them and resulting in the mixing of the races. This is historical fact.
