Have long considered the 705 and an amp. Currently have a kx-2 and KXPA 100 amp that I have used mobile static once or twice. Have yet to mount a mobile HF antenna and appreciate your comparison of the atas and the Tarheel II. Glad to see how you rigged the controller for the ATAs to the Icom. Wasn't sure how that could be controlled on a non Yaesu rig like the 705. Rob WA9RAD
Super clean layout TJ ! You need to mount the buddy hex on the back for fixed/m 😎 probably not making it to Dayton tomorrow. I have 2 funerals to attend sadly. Did you see the kid copying 230wpm ?
Thanks to this video I just did the same thing. Really cool. I don’t have any yet amp yet. Can you tell me what amp that is please. Thanks and keep the videos coming.
@@k9kj ok thanks. I just did a pota hunt with this set up testing it out and hit Omaha NE from Goodyear AZ 5 watts cw. See you on the air sometime. W7AEW. 73
Thanks for the walk through TJ, I recently picked up a K400 and ATAS-120. I'll need to go and watch your grounding video -- did you scrape the paint away for the K400 clamping bolts and how did you route the wire for flexibility when opening the door?
I did not scrape away any paint, I just mounted it as is.. for the coax loop, I just made it into a loop that adjusted while the door opened and closed. Sometimes it needs some manual help 🤣
I am poking around on the internet looking for a morse code paddle or key or whatever. I have never had one in my hand or used one, its hard to tell what I might like by looking at pictures. And I have no idea what iambic means. I am just trying to learn the code now. I thought it might help if I practice sending while I listen??? I know there are differences in the types of keyers and I think I will stay away from the straight keys. There are no ham stores or ham fests anywhere near me so I can't try them out. I live in the middle of nowhere. HELP! Oh, and I am left handed if that matters.
You are right, sending is also very helpful. You might want to try eBay to get an inexpensive paddle. I have some videos that talk about what iambic means
That's a really well thought out setup man. Super clean install. Love the custom work you did.
@@mikemar42 thank you! I love clean installs
Nice set up TJ. I really like how everything is out of sight, it’s NYC ready 🤣 Have a great time in Dayton!
Pretty slick TJ. Good job and thank you for sharing. Have a good time at Ham Fest.
I was going to say meh 5 watts, but then you busted the Italian stallion amp. Too cold brother, flexing like that. Nice setup😮💨
You know the BigTimeDXer doesn't play with QRP! 😎😁😱

@@Aaron-nn4ot this is one of those RM Italy amps
I do have two so I didn't remember which one that is. I think it's the 300w version

The steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car
Sometimes I like to switch it up! 😎
