Gentleman, I REALLY enjoy this format. It's conversational and very informative. I've always appreciated both of your opinions and delivery. This back-and-forth is so much more engaging. Keep this up!
I’m buying tickets for the NYC one in March. Canjam happens right before i fly out on a business trip for 2 months, so I’m so excited to be able to go to the convention. May fly out with some nice cans too 😏.
Great video. Nice to see some more long form impressions and love it that you both make it an event for a week. Seems like a tonne of fun. I’ll try to make it to SoCal next year!
What kind of madman listens to CDs from a CD player??????? You rip it, and then the CD stays in a box, as a long term storage solution. Because hard drives are NOT archival mediums.
Fun! Nice remembrance! I was there some both days :) Hope to meet you guys at the next one in SoCal! Yes, Jason would be amazing to spend time with! Just not enough time to see and hear everything you’d want to :) Good you bright types make it into a week!!! Did you remake the presentation video?
This is not a substitute for a pro review, but since I literally heard it yesterday, I feel prompted to chime in. Disclaimer: I do have a little bit of a cold atm, but I don't think it affected my hearing in a major way. Now I have to say that I was hell-bent on loving this headphone based on looks alone, but alas, treble was too much for me. Björk's "All Is Full of Love" sounded much too sharp; her vocals, while very much the center of the presentation, tended to sound sibilant and also sort of muffled at the same time. Separation and imaging, on the other hand, were stellar, and I liked the bass delivery (even though it was a bit shy on sub-bass), but the real deal-breaker was that the cups started vibrating and rattling at higher volumes. And I don't mean super-super-high but well within listening volume for me personally. Again, I was ready to really like it, but it just wasn't for me. 5000+ bucks saved. YMMV.
I found audiophile channels and the audiophile community during the pandemic. With lots of time on my hands I researched the best and worst the community has to offer. The intelligence and humor of Darko to the vitriol and trolling of Sharur. I saw outliers go mainstream, Andrew Robinson, Cheap Audio Guy. I watched established reviewers get hung up on brand loyalty, Schitt, ANDREW JONES. I dodged metaphors and bodily fluids from Zeos. I witnessed his unmasking which was a little like seeing KISS without make-up. I’ve poured over Crin’s graphs. I watched the emergence of collabs. And now, UA-cam personalities releasing audio gear. Is this a good direction to be going? I’m almost inclined to think that the moment you become a producer of a product you can no longer be a reviewer. Two completely different, and possibly conflicting, interests. I feel that in the short time I’ve been engaged in this content I’ve noticed a significant loss of objectivity. Perhaps it’s inevitable as content creators become more connected and popular, objectivity suffers. I almost feel like I might have witnessed a golden era of content creators, all distinctly different, independent of one another, reviewing products with little or no brackish pollution. I still have the interest but there seems to be less clarity and rigor in the UA-cam community. I dunno. I wonder if anyone else is noticing a change?
I have bought a pair of Ananda stealth's and, even though I think they sound great, would you recommend using an amp? If so, is there something budget friendly you could recommend?
Any decent one that saves you money is good. The above suggestion for the DX3 Pro+ is a great recommendation for example, but you really can’t go wrong with an amp for that - it’s a very efficient set of cans. You can even get away with an Apple USBS-C dongle for that, but I’m not 100% sure about your revision. Edit: but probably dont use it with a tube amp.
@@luigiheewan Yea, you’ll probably notice an upgrade if you went with something along the lines of a DX3 Pro+. If the inconvenience of the space it requires on your desk is fine, I’d say an entry level DAC/amp would be worth it.
Why would you ever want a headphone connector that locks into place. How is that ever useful at home? It could lead to it ripping out. They are used in medical equipment, because it is imperative that they dont come out.
Just so ya know, lemo connectors are expensive. Like very expensive. The custom keyboard community uses them sometimes and their connectors usually cost, authentic connectors, about 80 to 120 bucks per. Not that bad for a pair of headphones above the $1K range, but add that up in bulk.....It gets ultra expensive ultra fast for the business to invest in just those connectors alone, not counting drivers, R&D. Probably makes sense why only a set of cans that cost 5k have them...

5:13 Connector on the side is so much smarter, cable can't hit your shoulders when moving your head. Which isn't a huge issue but this is great.
I've got a friend who wants to make headphones and this design could be a great option for us :D

Got to talk to both of these fellas at CanJam. Such nice people. I really enjoyed the DMS headphone. Very big dynamic sound. Lots of fun.
This was GREAT fun! Glad to see you all enjoying a bit of life together!!
Doing Toronto Audiofest this weekend..I suspect there not much of a headphone scene…but it should be interesting.
Certainly interested in the DMS headphones and what people say about them. Might even buy a pair if they're reasonably priced.
It was awesome chatting with both of you, and I'm so excited for your headphone to come out!

Any chance y'all will ever review Yamaha yh-5000se??

In a perfect world all high end headphones would use dual lemo connectors like utopia, others are simply inferior
