I've been struggling on where to find switched power to power my stereo in my Challenger....didn't even think about the 12v plug. I'm going to look now, see if I can get it done. Thanks for addressing this.

Hi great Video tutorial. I just purchased a Pioneer Double Din for my Charger. I originally had a 7in JVC DVD radio in it until someone broke in and stole it. The pioneer 2660nex is a little taller than the bezel. What would recommend I do to get it to fit properly?

You could but as you probably know youll need to crimp them properly. I'd still recommend heatshrinking over the connectors to help them from coming loose.
Well what do u do with the other connections that was originally attached to the OEM radio? Do u just leave them unplugged and just plug in the antenna and one plug to the new radio?
They aren’t being used in the oem either at least they werent in mine. They were for an amp I didn’t have, a back up cam I didn’t have, stereo controls on the steering wheel that weren’t there and two subs it didn’t come with.
I have a problem with mine. People that he the car before me cut the cig lighter plug off and tapped into it but the wires are dead with ignition on , fuse is still good though 😔
Fuse #18 (cigarette lighter circuit) in the trunk fuse panel is a selectable type circuit. It can either be constantly powered or switched accessory powered. The fuse position has three slots, if its constantly powered right now then all you have to do is remove the fuse a slide it over to the next slot which will make it switched powered when key is on.

Some cars/trucks require a part to install an after market stereo. I'm blanking on the name of said part but Google it and say what do u need to install after market stereo in (YOUR vehicle) and besides a harness what else is needed. Me & my ex both had trailblazers a year apart(2002 & 2003) but there were so many differences bc his vehicle had onstar & buttons on steering wheel. So his issue was similar to yours that stereo powered on but no sound. He needed a $40 part to connect it all. Hope this helps if ur still trying
Red wire (without using the proper smart harness) will tap into the positive wire of the power socket / cigarette lighter. If you use the correct smart harness, the red accessory is generated by the harness without need to go looking for it elsewhere.
@@fnkel5684 Just depends - if your factory amp is giving you issues, then i'd go the bypass route. If your audio system seems to be working fine, then I'd recommend just keeping it as is, and using the correct smart harness.
It would be a mess of wiring considering the fact your vehicle wasn't equipped for one in the first place. That most likely means it doesn't have the necessary wiring to add the factory equipment. You are just better off going aftermarket.
