This show really reminds me of Monty Python. But it's everything that I like about Monty Python without some of the stuff that seems (to me anyway) like filler.
"It's a simple arsenous monoxid nicotinal preparation taken bronchially as an infumation" Can just imagine Stephen walking into a newsagent's and ordering a packet of those :D
Every time I visit my doctor I receive the standard "Have you been depressed lately?" To which I always reply "Only on payday" She laughs just like Stephen
@@Mr.Monta77 How do you document private medical prescriptions? It was not a secret in the 1950s. Thousands of people were prescribed cigarettes. Brands were even advertised as endorsed by doctors!
wait isnt herb considered a "plant" or something natural that grows out of the ground? if im wrong plz tell me but technicaly tobacco is a herb is my definiton of cigerettes is right
Which season ? Can't remember. I know in one episode he says to a man suffering from intestinal problems after quitting smoking that is simply caused by sweeteners contained in nicotine chewing gum...
It was a Xmas episode. The man was dressed as Santa and couldn't get up every minute to use the restroom. I remember that part but was confused why he presecirbed cigarettes. I must have missed the earlier part. Resolved, thank you!
It's not. Some friends say they find the british english easier, but I don't think so. It's not about the accent, it's about all the complex words that the americans don't use so often.
Is English your first language? Because if not, that would be the only reasonable excuse for not understanding. British English is infinitely better and equally easy to understand as American English is.
It's kinda weird to see Hugh Laurie as a patient, getting the strange medicine, instead of giving it! LOL!
I loved the call back to this skit on House too!

Postmodern before postmodern was a thing
totally agree

0:13 Stephen's laugh rates as one my favourite all-time comedy moments.

Man it feels odd to receive a UA-cam notification out of the blue for something I said 10 years ago. I guess we're all still on UA-cam.
@@gabers2112 plus, diabolical laughter never goes out of style - it's timeless!
Doctors did in fact used to prescribe cigarettes with these sorts of reasons!
Documentation please?

Stephen's laugh in this skit is gold.
"More natural than baked alaska or nylon socks." LOL!!!!
Remember House also gave cigarettes to a pacient once? Funny, ha? Fry and Laurie son tan geniales...
Its amazing how ANYTHING in doctor-speak sounds much better or much worse than it actually is.
This is actually some pretty deep stuff.
This is actually used in House M.D. ....coincidence? OR IS IT?!

This is extremely funny now because of the House aspect. Stephen even calls Hugh a moron! XD
It's not. Some friends say they find the british english easier, but I don't think so. It's not about the accent, it's about all the complex words that the americans don't use so often.
Stupidity is easier. And ignorance helps, too.
I love this so much lol
thumbs up for awesomeness
And 15 years later, Hugh plays an American Doctor, who is not advers to giving cigs to his patient.
Nice Twist ?
And another 15 years later, I read your comment. Nice twist!
Dude how old are you?
thought this was going to be about weed
So much love for the pair of them and this!
so this is where that laugh came from!
This is SO smart.
Youve gotta love the brits...:)

@shakespeareninja He did! As a cure for constipation LOL
lol doctors said this years and years go
didn´t Dr. House prescribe cigarettes to a constipated Santa Claus on one episode?
He had quit and his symptoms were a consequence of that
Yep, he sure did.
Jaw-dropping.
No, I'm not. I'm guessing you decided to claim sarcasm when you realised your comment didn't make sense. Good job mate!
Yep, that's what I was referring to...
@keyblok Like, which part? I could transcribe some phrases for you.
Kinda funny that in 5th episode of House House prescribes cigarettes to to a patient
@bnel890 yup, laurie is a well loved brittish comedy legend. he was in this show as well blackadder
@ixat00 I already found subtitles for the episodes, but thanks for caring :D
I couldn’t hear the second opinion
You didn't really understand the clip did you?
I can't understand half of what they say :/
@luckytwentyseven Love for that comment
Pretty much.

I think this was referenced on House at one point.
