From South Africa. I am new to this channel. There is no shortage cruelty and neglect here, right across the spectrum, but I am reduced to tears at the plight of these animals. How anyone can behave with such craven indifference to suffering of animals in their custody (I refuse to say care) is beyond me. Thank God for this team of carers. Dedication like this must take its toll. Thank you for everything you do; also for bringing this to public attention.
My favorite part of your shows beside the auction rescue, is when the herd comes out of quarantine and runs. Down to their new pasture. It makes me so happy to see them so happy, healthy, and ALIVE. I love that they were doomed to cruel slaughter 30 days before are now so joyful and beautiful. Thank you for all you ALL do. Thanks Doc, Sara, and Jesse for all the extra you give. As an equestrian for 30 years, this is gut wrenching. I wish I had the capabilities to do what you do. I also wish I was closer to volunteer. Thank you for all you do for these beautiful animals. Auction houses need regulations and rules. This is proof of that. I’ve donated to your cause several times and will continue to do so. My heart goes out to you all. Thank you. ❤️
When the job at hand is to RESCUE, REHABILITATION And REHOME, most folks have no idea how difficult it can be to lose one or perform the last act of kindness. Girls, burnout is real, so please be supportive of each other, when in need.💞 HUGGZ, Love and Much Respect To You All.
It takes a strong, compassionate person to give the last act of kindness. I think people who are critical of you for doing this don’t understand that the decision is made with medical knowledge, experience and putting the horse’s best interest first. Stay strong, and be good to yourself. I hope you find comfort in knowing you and your team have done more to help them than anyone else has in a long time. You saved them from a miserable ending of their life. You gave them a chance at a better life, and if that wasn’t possible, a kind, compassionate end without pain. I think that most of us who watch your videos, feel the anger and sadness of what these horses have suffered thru. We saw them, and their lives mattered.
Anyone who has NOT had to put a fur-baby down (Dog or Cat) should not judge anyone else who has. It's a terrible decision to make but you have to consider the pet, (family for me) not your own emotions. I have
I think the critics would do better to criticise the people who allowed the horses to get in such an awful state in the first place. Also what are the auctioneers thinking, here in the UK at any animal auction, the RSPCA inspectors are present. So an animal who is suffering, the owner would probably be prosecuted, and the auctioneer would not allow the animal into the sale
@@jaynellewellyn7628 that’s sounds like a great law. My only concern is that it could backfire here. I feel like with a lot of things in US , what tends to happen like with prohibition, cannabis, firearms, exotic animals and illicit drugs it creates a black market. So instead of them going to these auctions in whatever condition, they would go straight to slaughter (they’d call a guy who knows a guy to ‘come take care of the horse’) and take away the opportunity for rescuers to buy them instead because the owners would be afraid of prosecution and or judgement.
you also have to remember a lot of the injuries sustained were not caused by the original owners and instead by the drive to the auction and during the auction. doesnt mean the owners cant be assholes but the transporters and auctioners are usually the worst people in all this :(

Hi, y’all from Canada! I’ve been watching your videos quite often the last couple months and I very much admire the dedication of your team of horse handlers, and the people in leadership position. Growing any organization, even a not for profit can be surprisingly difficult in ways people often don’t anticipate, or lack the skills to find the best approach to. But having a strong shared love of horses and a commitment to their well-being is,in a way, another way that these amazing creatures enrich our lives and help us to be better together. Anyway that we can compensate these horses for all they have helped us to achieve will be only a drop in the feed-bucket. I also appreciate the time the team takes to share so many aspects of the work of horsemanship in the videos, and it is fascinating to watch the horses expressions while they are being discussed! This is my first time on your channel. I am so impressed. Zero pretentious b. s. Sincere and authentic content based in solid horsemanship and science. It's simply amazing to see so many many young people, in particular, who have their heads on straight, know their job, committed to a cause. Most of all, the atmosphere at your facility. Each horse I saw, I could clearly see their relief at landing in the midst of such respect and love, finally comfort and safety.
Found you guys today, and I'm hooked. Keep up the amazing work! I can feel everyone is so passionate and you can see the horses know they're in good hands. With Donavon, the one who kicked, I wonder if it’s because he’s a Big Lick horse. He was so defensive about people approaching his hind end or touching his legs. I think he was anticipating and trying to prevent the soring chains and caustic rubs that he’d been subjected to before. That would explain his kicking by a horse with a generally good temperament. He just needs to have kindness and love from here on out. Just another example of why the Big Lick needs to end.
My horse did it too as a foal, he kicked the hell out of everybody coming into his box (after weaning he was in for 10 days foal training prior him relocating to another farm). He didnt look dangerous to me and they just told me to have him up for slaughter. But when they worked with him he was ok. I had a vet checking him, and he had severe, I mean really severe skin infection... Nobody saw it until his hair + stinky wet crust started to fall off. My poor boy just defended himself because the trainer would always lay his hand on his back/ass when he approached a horse and that just hurted him so he would kick and eventually didnt allow anyone near him. He never kicked again after succesful cure and changing stable, he was halfway bald requiring him to stay inside longer than the 10 days. He has been growing up now and will come into training later this year. Sure this Donavon took away my worries that maybe my boy learned to kick to avoid humans, he is still a stallion and I monitored him as much as I could but the people trimming his hooves and deworming him says he is easy going. Looking at Donavon my trust in my horse came back., Donavon also didnt show as an aggressive horse. I have to add that my horse has been living 'wild and free' for his first 4 1/2 year of his life so I had no control or influence in him, nor as a foal that I could know he suffered as he was out in the pastures, this was second time I could see him and it didnt show until the vet pulled out his hair. It was no neglect, just a dampy wet winter (rainrot) and the stress of weaning maybe excellerated it.
Walkers can be naturally stressed getting passed around. Being settled and safe trust returns... Such a giving breed. Hope he finds a loving patient home that will only focus on him.

I cried, too, Tawnee (hope I spelled that right). The shape that one horse was in, plus the draft horse just made me bawl. And I couldn't SMELL it! I admire y'all's ability to give some horses the Last Act of Kindness; people are either cowards, unfeeling or just plain greedy. They don't understand WHY you do what you do. Watching I thought is superb how your team is confident and well trained and feels empowered to make decisions. So many organisations not just animal rescues struggle when key people are away. It is wonderful to see trust and delegation of responsibility. It makes an organisation sustainable.
Well, that was some video. I am very proud of the work done by these young women and they are not even related to me. As a mostly retired employer responsible for a large number of employees, I learned a long time ago that age does not limit success. I wish them every success and thank them for the work they are doing here. Thanks to everyone else involved with this operation as well. I have a record made when I was three years old - that was seventy three years ago. It was a family party and my grandmother asked me wanted I wanted to do today. My response was "I want to go ride the horsey". Some things never change:-)
This is not an easy mission. It takes courage, commitment, and lots of hard work to do what Horse Plus does for these beautiful animals. I'm praying and hoping to see these animals be protected one day. It broke my heart to see those precious animals in horrific condition. I will never understand why their lives don't matter to people. Maybe together we can all make the change. I love the idea of not allowing injured animals in auctions! Thank you Horse Plus for caring for so many helpless animals ❤
The only thing is if the greedy people are denied the auction outlet where will the animals end up then? Will the be walked into a river with weights on and held there until they are drowned. That costs nothing and they are free of them. Do they dig a pit walk them in break their legs or shot them in the head and cover them over. No one knows what they have done. No stigma there either. When animals are used for commercial gain, puppy mills, race horses, etc, sporting animals of any kind, they are a commodity not a life with feelings. So be careful when closing one door that you don’t accidentally open a cave of horrors.
Love to all the kind people in the sanctuary caring for these fabulous animals. Horses are fantastic. They have made my life a joy. Thank you so much for the work you do.

I am new to this channel. There is no shortage cruelty and neglect here, right across the spectrum, but I am reduced to tears at the plight of these animals.
How anyone can behave with such craven indifference to suffering of animals in their custody (I refuse to
say care) is beyond me.
A Colorado Mountain Grandma
Looks like Doc can use a good massage, especially his shoulders and such!! Bless his heart ❤️
Thank you. ❤️
I think this world is difficult for humans but when I see how these animals suffer. So wonderful to see you angels working. Thank you!
When the job at hand is to RESCUE, REHABILITATION And REHOME, most folks have no idea how difficult it can be to lose one or perform the last act of kindness. Girls, burnout is real, so please be supportive of each other, when in need.💞
HUGGZ, Love and Much Respect To You All.
Those injuries were beyond imagining....how on earth can anyone stand by and allow these horses to suffer?
I have
So we’ll said. 👌🏼
@@Renaevannatta most likely the animals would be dumped or just flat left for dead.
I bless you for rescuing these poor babes. My heart is with you
Hello 👋 Susan, how are you doing?
I rather your group put these horses down then face the very long ride to slaughter. Thank you for being so caring
Thank the Lord for angels like you folks. You are doing God's work.
It is so hard to believe that there are no laws in place to enable prosecution of these abusive owners.
I'm working on that! Join in!
I know right
you also have to remember a lot of the injuries sustained were not caused by the original owners and instead by the drive to the auction and during the auction. doesnt mean the owners cant be assholes but the transporters and auctioners are usually the worst people in all this :(
New Zealand loves your work
If this happened in UK the owners would be arrested and RSPCA can take away the animals and they could be banned from owning animals for life
Thank you, for being strong enough to do what other people cannot.
Hello 👋 Katie, how are you doing?
I cried! I even thought that Doc was putting on a brave face. Thank you for what you do, and take care of yourselves.
Horses are like puppies, so willing to make you happy, so innocent...it really angers me to see the horrible condition of these dear animals. Bless your hearts for your dedication to them. Thank-you, over and over again.
Those horses are so messed up it makes me so mad that people could do that to those kind souls it just hearts my heart yall are so amazing and yall are doing great when I grow up i want to be just like you and help all animals yall are great roll modles
You will no doubt be a blessing to many animals yet to be born, should you devote your life to running a rescue mission like HPHS does. I hope your dreams come true.
@@marcyking461 Thank you so much
P
@@marcyking461 you really have no idea how much that means to me. I've been told multiple times "your going to wasting your time and money" your going to run a charity case " who cares about the horses going to slaughter they are there for a reason". It just means the world to me that you said that and I wanted to let you know that thanks
@@K9s555 You are so very welcome. I admire you for your selfless want to help those who can not help themselves. Never, ever, let anyone tell you you 'can't' or that you are foolish or whatever or that any animal is not worth the effort to save. Where would we be without them? Granted some animals can not be saved, but they can be allowed to die in dignity and peacefully, which is what HPHS is doing, when all else fails. God bless them, and God bless you, too. This world needs more people focused on loving the creatures among us, whether they walk on two legs or four, fly, swim, or crawl. Stay focused and keep your faith in yourself. One day your dreams will come true. Never doubt it!
I am in NZ and I binge watch as many as I can. You guys are doing an awesome job.. thank you for saving these beautiful creatures
Hello 👋 dear, how are you doing?
If you’re able to, you should donate to them. I donate $10 a month. Isn’t much but I love their cause and I do what I can!
Jessie is just an all around excellent horse woman !!!! I love watching her with the horses because she’s so good with all of them !!! ❤️👍🐴
Thank you for explaining things. The better people can get perspective, the more solutions can be viable.
Can’t wait for the new barn and the horses to get better!
Absolutely. Plus they will be able to be out of the weather and cold/heat.
Wondering if Doc is gonna spent more time there every week when the new barn is done ! Maybe Doc should just stay there then , lol .
You can't save them all, but you can save SOME. Some will always be better than none. We appreciate you. Thank you for bearing this burden, and God give you all the support you need through all us viewers to keep going.
I just want to say, thank you for all that y’all do. Horses don’t have a voice and it’s sad to see all of them in the slaughter pipeline. Thank you for giving them a second chance and doing what their owners should have done. Thank you for being their voice when no one else was. I love you guys for what you do!❤️
Slaughter Pipeline would be a pretty sick band name
Thank you so much for making differences every day-bless you
It's deplorable how people neglect their horses and don't do right by them. I truley am amazed that you can go to these auctions and see the bad conditions. So thankyou for going and helping these beautiful animals that God created for us. Thank you for being the ones to give the kindness of Love so they escape the horrors of being slaudered.
I liked this longer version and in depth explanations.
Thank you for being there to do the hard things that NEED to be done.
Thank you for not giving up. Your efforts and tears heal lives that would otherwise suffer a cruel end.
Everyone here are with you in spirit and appreciate your big hearts.
so lovely to see them run free at the end
I agree.
Prayers going up for all these horses. Thank you for all you do. Blessings and healing to them all.
I feel for Tawnee and these horses. A great deal of compassion is behind these rescues.
Every single one of you are amazing! Sat here watching with tears of sadness and tears of happiness. Amazing work!
THANK YOU TAWNEY for giving them the love and care they deserve❣️❣️❣️❣️❤️🩹
I was in tears on this episode. Thank you for showing love to those that have gone to greener pastures. God bless all of you!
Rescue work is not for the feint of heart. Neither was this video. Thank you Horse Plus for all you do
Tawnee, I'm so very sorry to see you so heartbroken over these horribly mistreated equine. I can't begin to imagine what you, Jason, Doc & all your amazing staff must endure to help these beautiful sentient animals on a daily basis. You all are true heroes to the animals and to us. Sending love & healing thoughts to you all.
Tawnee, I wanted to give you hug. Seeing those horses broke my heart. I've been watching Horse Plus for about 4 1/2 months now. And you and your team are a amazing you do a job most people don't want to do. The laws do need to change. I like this longer video it helps me to see what all you do, and everything that you all go through before and after an auction.
Hello 👋 Regina, how are you doing?
I adore you guys for what you are doing! Bless everyone!💖💖💖
The dedication, devotion & unconditional love that you give to each & every horse is to be commended ❤️
Being there for each horse & providing what they need takes a special kind of person & group. Thank you to each of you for all you do❤️❤️🐴❤️❤️
Thank you to all Horse Plus employees and volunteers.
Just thank you.
Y'all are angels.

One of your BEST episodes - I didn't even take a bathroom break! More like this one please.
Seeing that mini's mane braided at the shelter really confirms that you all give them so much love and care no matter what
Thank you all for all the hardwork you do saving these beautiful animals ❤ 💜 ♥
This is my first time on your channel. I am so impressed. Zero pretentious b. s. Sincere and authentic content based in solid horsemanship and science. It's simply amazing to see so many many young people, in particular, who have their heads on straight, know their job, committed to a cause.
Most of all, the atmosphere at your facility. Each horse I saw, I could clearly see their relief at landing in the midst of such respect and love, finally comfort and safety.
I love how Doc always waves when he drives in!
Some beautiful horses there! Bless you for giving them a second chance for a good life
Love you Tawnee and the whole crew of Horse Plus for what you do for these beautiful animals. God Bless you all.
Thank you for helping horses ! Sending lots of love 💕 From Colorado! We love our horses 🐴!
After so many gravely injured, the best footage after intake is to see the horses running freely further into the field, seeming happy and hopefull! ♡
Found you guys today, and I'm hooked. Keep up the amazing work! I can feel everyone is so passionate and you can see the horses know they're in good hands. Thank you for giving these horses the respect they deserve, and beautiful last days full of love and care. If I ever have the opportunity to own a horse, I would want it to be a rescue from y'all.
Good Luck at the Auction tonight Tawney. Save a bunch of lives.

“Thank you you came to care and loved me.” 🐴🐴
Doc is such an adorable young man at heart! I think he's inspiring so much calm and comfort even if the situations are critical.. These horsies are in such a poor shape.. I wish we could have more slow and longer encounters with the horses, I really love how we can deepen into how bad human actions affect such helpless creatures. I for sure adore these girls growing within this wholesome and yet at the same time harsh task to take care of these horses.
> 1:28:38 gave me such anxiety, I have a thing with that pen so close to the eye! x.x
Some people just don't understand, if a horse can't walk and they are going to be in pain for the rest of their life they have to be humanly euthanized, you are doing the rite thing for them, the kindest thing you can do. Keep up your wonderful work you guys are angels.
if you stop using them this would end. but as long as people want to use them this is never ending.
Just wish people would reach out to a rescue when they are over their heads.
If you can't afford you need to love enough to pass to someone that can. Dumping at the auction isn't the answer.
my god your a strong woman i could not do this it would kill me off with the pain of it thank you for all your doing thank you to all the people who help want to cry my eyes out over it all so glad there some happys storys

Thank you for all u do with these horses. Thank u for giving those with grave health issues the grace to cross the rainbow bridge. I'm a retired vet tech and worked in an emergency hospital. All small animal. It has never been easy to let any animal go, it takes courage and God's grace. I've been to some of these auctions and it just kills me to see the conditions. God bless u all.
So sad to see the poor condition of the animals and my heart goes out to Tawnie for all her effort and caring. Rest well Tawnie as you are needed. Hope all get well and go on to good homes. Thanks for all you do to the entire team and Doc~
Tawnee… don’t listen to the bashers. You are providing so much love and care. I rescued five horses and a dog that I found by accident while driving around, lost, and pulled over. When I walked up a hill to find a signal, there were six horses. One had already passed away and the others were bone skinny. It took a very long time to get them healed and healthy. I may have rescued them that day but they rescued me for many years. I donate to your organization every month. Best money ever spent. Keep doing what you’re doing sweetie. We’ve got your back!
This is one of the best videos that I have seen in a while (the length of the video was great ) and the horses that were given the last act of kindness was a good call by the Awesome Vet xx

Yes. I agree. Well said. I hope the best for Donovan, now that he has a bright future.
I would think a big lick horse would be more sensitive about their front end...no abuse happens in the rear...
@@cindyrissal3628 you might be right but he can kick better with his back feet and thus keep people away.
Thank y’all so much for what y’all do. I know it has to be hard going to the auction and seeing all the horses like that. If I was at one I would probably cry a lot it’s just soo sad seeing all of that. And y’all are there to help them sometimes you have to say bye to some but that is the people’s fault who had them for not taking care of them.😭
Hi 👋 dear, how are you doing?
This episode made me cry! I feel your anguish and frustration. Please know that you are a Godsend to many horses who were not valued enough to matter. You gave them that love that they mattered! God Bless You Tawnie Priesler! God Bless all of you at Horse Plus Humane Society! YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Sending you love and strength and a peaceful heart. You have done so much good and continue to do some much good in the world. My heart aches right along with you for these beautiful voiceless animals. Thank you for everything that you do. So incredibly grateful!
I will forever be grateful for you tawnee and the whole team. This takes bravery, courage, patience, love and so much more I love you all
Thank you for rescuing these babies! I have two rescues I adopted! They’re such sweet babies! ❤️
Horse Plus Rescuers…. You guys do an amazing job. As a former rescuer, who had to step away… I feel your pain and heartbreak. The unfortunate reality is as much as we want… we can’t save them all. Know you did your best and provided the last act of kindness. Know that for all those who criticize, there are more who support you. You are angels.
Even though this auction was hard to watch I am glad the horses are getting the help that they need
Both my Papaws taught me it was better to let a horse go on to the much-needed reward than to make them suffer needlessly. I am amazed at the operation you have going there! Top-notch, professional all the way! KUDOS! ALL OF YOU do such wonderful, loving jobs! I wish I could be in TN but I live in Alaska so please accept my donation. We need to change the animal law. Horses are SPECIAL, sentient beings who can and do show us their love, allow us to love them and they make great team workers! Thank you all for what you do for the horses and other animals. I appreciate each and every one of you! ~~ Terry Licia, Homer, Alaska (TIP: smear some Mentholatum Ointment under your nose for the smelly jobs! Works!)

Aww Tawnee just wanted to hug you when you were walking away from the open wounded horse. You looked absolutely devasted and yet you were able to hold it together. I so admire your compassion and your strength. I just wanted to catch you when you finally fell. I fell with you.
I can't wait to see the young palomino blossom. She is stunning!!
Watching I thought is superb how your team is confident and well trained and feels empowered to make decisions.
So many organisations not just animal rescues struggle when key people are away.
It is wonderful to see trust and delegation of responsibility. It makes an organisation sustainable.
Awe Tawnee I'm crying right along with you. God Bless you and your entire team. All my love and prayers to all of you. Your my heroes. ❤🌹🐎🐴
He is a great Doctor too!
I'm sorry so sorry for your pain. You are an angel all of you...
At least you're there to say, "good bye" and give them a loving place to be before going to the rainbow bridge or a new home. God sends you many blessing because of your strength and loving heart. Sometimes letting go is the best thing you can do.💖
