This is why I don't want to hear crap about these other teams that don't want to put money into their teams. The Dodgers are one of the few teams that are putting money into their team.

Yes, but what you big market fans never mention is that I would estimate 20 of the 30 teams in MLB don’t have the revenue stream to go much above 150-175 million, which even at that payroll is only half the amount the Mets and Dodgers are spending. Trust me, if the Dodgers only had the Brewers revenue, the Dodgers would not have the huge payroll they do. No owner is going out spend their revenue 2-1. I admit several teams could spend more, but don’t make it sound like most teams could ever go above 200 mil, it’s just not possible. Under the current rules, the Mets and Dodgers have the right to spend what ever they want, no doubt there, but don’t blame small market fan’s for complaining about the huge differences in not only payroll but the ability to compete even for those teams that do try to spend to their limits. Several have outspent their revenues at times, Minnesota the last couple of seasons have greatly out spent what their revenue, and it got them nothing, and now are now trying to sell off players to get back to reasonable spending.

You just touched on the glaring thinking error of fans of “small market” What are their teams are spending within that 150-200 million (60-70% of revenue) to improve the product in the field? How much are the Brewers spending? How many other teams are maxing that limit out like the diamondbacks are to invest in their culture and fans? No one says the playing field is equal in any business baseball teams are a business but they shouldn’t be a profit center for billionaires. They reap the benefit of the appreciating asset whether they spend a dime or not.

Pages you may ask? Well, I think the plan is that given Kim might struggle more against lefties, Pages will come in center and Edman will come to the infield.

No Jim, the Dodgers do need a trade or 2 to crunch their 40 man roster and open some spaces but they don't need Arenado, specially if that means moving Muncy to 2B, he no longer has the legs needed there!! From your list, I see them holding (at least until the trade deadline) on to Miller, May and Outman because of their ceilings. I'd love if they trade Frasso, Knack and Wrobleski (yes the 3 of them) because then they would get the chance to become full time starters in another team. Of course the O's want a salary cap if I had the best farm system and didn't want to spend millions because I'm a cheap business man I'd want a salary cap too. How about spending money if you want to win? Crazy idea you can have a crazy amount of money or you can make money and try and win.

Vlad isn’t worth 400 mil end of story he’s not David Ortiz
He can’t hit in the clutch , and with bases loaded in his career 😳
Let another team pay that ridiculous contract and he has had conditioning issues as well .
Use the 400 mil to buy multiple great players to better the team

Dodgers taking it all again hands down. No salary cap takes all interest out of the game. I don't blame the Dodgers for it I blame the league. It's over before it even starts.

They are totally stacked and on paper should absolutely dominate, but... You never know what is going to happen over the course of a season. Unexpected injuries, slumps and underperforming are all potentials. I'd still have my money on them though.

The narrative that the owners just need to spend more is an uneducated stance. Each and every team has an operating budget and the team needs to be run like a business. An MLB team isn't a new girlfriend that you just throw money at to impress people. Each team has different parameters for what they can spend on payroll and still be able to turn a profit. If the team does not turn a profit the days are numbered until that team gets courted by another city and encouraged to move. The NFL is clearly a better product and guess what, they still have a salary cap. NBA teams paying bench players 18 million a year to give you 4 minutes a night is nuts. Most NFL cities have had their team in the playoffs at least once in the last 10 years, can't say the same thing for MLB cities. No one wants to see a strike again in baseball but eventually you will have 6 teams that spend like crazy and control your playoff picture year in and year out.

I don't understand why the dodgers should pay the old, underperforming Arenado money. muncy is much better player for cheap money right now. no way to trade cost controlled, loyal muncy for washed Arenado.
