- After being shaped from the thoughts of Eru, the fourteen Ainur known as the Valar entered Arda to bring order to the world and confront the emerging evils of Melkor. They played a significant role in shaping Arda through the music of Ilúvatar, often addressing each other as "brother" or "sister". Each Ainur contributed to the creation of the world through music, except for Melkor, who was considered the most powerful at the time. His disagreement with Eru's vision for Arda led to his expulsion and a rebellion that caused many of the world's problems.
After Arda's creation, the fourteen Valar initially resided on Almaren, a concealed island on the Great Lake. However, after its destruction and the reshaping of the earth, long before the Awakening of the Elves, they moved to Aman and established the realm of Valinor. They were later known as the 'Powers of the World', although they seldom directly intervened in the world's events. Eru granted them authority over Arda, and in Valinor, they built the golden city of Váli-màr, with their own residences scattered across the plain, and Máhanaxar, the "Ring of Doom", where they convened and held discussions.
Fot those who dont know Mairon is the name of Sauron when he served Aüle. It is said that all Maia close to creation were closer to be tempted and corrupted. As they would desire to posess what they had done. Sauron, Saruman and all the Balrogs were once servants of Aüle, although Sauron was the most important of them, as he was of a higher hierchary of Maiar (like Eönwë, Ossë, Melian and Anar), and was known as the Highest of the *_Smiths of the House of Aulë_* .

Actually, the Aratar, or the greatest of the Valar, were 8. In due order, they are:
The Valier (the greatest of the Ladies)
1. Varda
2. Yavanna
3. Nienna
The Gentlemen;
1. Manwë
2. Ulmo
3. Aüle
4. Mandos
5. Oromë
Melkor (Morgoth) was the greatest, but is no longer considered a Vala.
This is all clearly stated in the Silmarillion.
Morgoth is surely the second most powerful being in the lotr universe.
Ps. Why a elf is called Telepor*o?
In the beginning he was the most Powerful, then later as time goes on and as he poured his power into corrupting other creatures, he gradually became quite weak in the end. It's like the luciferian plot, when you're (Morgoth) the most powerful, obviously you have the confidence to try and be the master of all. If there was, in the beginning, a more powerful valar then Morgoth wouldn't dare so.
