Special thanks to our friend @mapal for animating the Rally Caps logo. His work is amazing, go check out his channel!!!
Just filmed two projects on the C80. It's the real deal.
The C80 and C400 are the Cameras that will keep Canon shooters to stick around, Cam's are Def long overdue.
34:13 Good points about autofocus and the snobbery. I work in TV and corporate, and the PD hiring model (i.e one-person shooter) means we need that autofocus.
Awesome seeing ya both at the Garage Sale! The lights are in good hands!!
I think the difference of shooting APSC mode vs cropping later is the resolution at the APSC mode is still 4k on higher resolution sensors. Like it’s not the same one the fx3 because it is a 4k sensor. Compared to the A7iv which is a 6k or something sensor downsampled but you can crop in camera and still have a 4k output. So shooting 6k on the c80 would be good for cropping later unless you could get apsc mode with 6k output. Buuut the other part would be framing for the crop and if you do well at that.
The C80 looks amazing, looking at possibly getting it next year!
This past weekend the photographer was using a Canon 5D Mark iii. I was like dang, my Canon 5D Mark iii is collecting dust in my office haha. It was awesome!
5dII and 5DIII are some of the best photo cameras ever made. I wish I had one of them right now
@@shueibdahir I totally agree!
I enjoy you guys talk lol
Hate that the 6K on the C80 is oly available in RAW.
Would love 6K xf-AVC, C.log 2 cinnegammut. 25/30, 50/60 and 100/120 fps
Thinking the same thing, surely this has to be a firmware update issue? if it can handle 6k in RAW, it must be able to handle in xf-avc
@@chipcreativeuk no... the data of RAW is easy on the camera because theres is no in camera handling of the files.
The XF-AVC has noise reduction and a lot of correction to make the image look as nice as it does. I think they limited the C80 by giving it the SD cards.
The C80 was announced a week after I finally bought the FX3 and sold my Canon lenses. Oof.
FX3 is still a beast! But if you want internal NDs and internal RAW , it's never too late to come back 😅
TIme to sell your FX3 Ben haha and get the C80
That’s rough. :O You sticking with the FX3 now though or getting a Canon system back together?
Regarding crop mode for photo vs. video: for photo it’s obviously the same as cropping in post (although I still like to use crop mode when shooting stills because I find it easier to compose), but in video it really depends on the camera, doesn’t it? With all the weird things that cameras may do in video like line skipping, pixel binning, downsampling, ... I wouldn’t be surprised if crop modes on different full frame cameras look very different while the full frame shot looks. Just a guess though. FWIW, since I only shoot smaller FHD for the time being, I’m cool with using APS-C crop in a pinch. On an A7C II (shoutout to Steven ;))
I love the low profile of the C80 but goddamnit Canon! No CF express B slot and no 6k 60fps like the R3!
Curious, when you say you know the log curve well, could you elaborate?
Personally I tend to lean on CSTs in Resolve or the manufacturers lut for processing the log curve since it’s a simple mathematical transform into rec709. Any grading I do before that transform is just to sweeten or apply a look, but I don’t really have to “know” the log curve at all to get there.
super 35 is multiple sizes BASED on Perf - if you take 8 perforation per frame (full frame) 35mm foto film turn horizontal add a remjet layer and cut at 4 perf which half of the photo size when its moving left to right as opposed to up and down....you basically have motion picture S35 its more complex im simplifying -- however both are 35mm its just smaller on film because of the orientation- So now each frame if you do this is 4 perf s35 at 24x18mm roughly - BUT ALSO there is a 3 PERF size standard also called S35 that was also common THATS smaller MOST S35 cameras at that like say Blackmagic etc....13mm tall Arii Alexa Mini OG or my Red Gemini for example are 4 perf S35 at 18mm 24mm) need crop on Red
Everybody waiting to see what Sony drops in the next few months…
Question: Is the c80 compatible with the Canon Ef-RF .71x Speedbooster?
will the speedbooster caught vignetting?
Speedboosters are only used for crop sensors, so on full frame there would be a vignette
It would be compatible, just in the super 35mm mode. Full frame would heavily vignette. It would allow you to use the 4K 60 modes in raw when cropped to super35. Might be a niche need but yes it would work technically.
Is Eric going to buy all of us a C80?
Probably
Probably not 😅 not really in the space to need the C80
