Garcelle and Loni on the finances 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 As someone who was constantly burdened with my parents' finances from my earliest memories and was sometimes even blamed, for something as ridiculous as one parent buying pizza rolls for my siblings and I to eat, I really appreciate someone acknowledging how damaging this is. You dont start to realize the effects til youre an adult, but so much of you being a kid is stripped away.
I was raised in Africa most my childhood till I was 13. We weren’t rich, we didn’t have the gadgets or things kids in the west had. But I can honestly say I had the most fun filled childhood. I never knew we lived on money sent by relatives in the West. We got enough to eat and have a roof over our head. We were so creative making up fun games. Using candles at night because electricity was a privilege. It was fun and amazing. Learned so much and experienced so much.
The thing about the last name, as a daughter of a divorced mom who didn't change her last name, I can tell you that not only is it a huge procedure to go around changing it, but my mom also didn't want to go from having the same one as me to suddenly having a different one, and having to explain that to all my friends. It's a personal choice, and there's nothing wrong with it.
I wasn't surprised because my parents taught me at a young age that if you have money, you have power and it buys your way into a lot of things that commoners cannot. It also buys your way out. I'm actually more surprised by the public's reaction. Isn't this what the rich been doing since the beginning of time? I don't mean just universities but other aspects in life.
@@emilyaguirre8492 yeah i thought it was common knowledge that rich people were doing this. It’s comes in shows all the time. I would be more surprised if they weren’t. This whole thing to me is just why is this news? Idc? This been happening. Nothing new.
It actually is very common. You don’t even have to be rich or even white. I went to a historically black college and several of my classmates bought their way in and their diplomas. I don’t know why people are so shocked by this. People cheating has been going on since the beginning of time. Hell even athletes do it. Basketball player Derrick Rose had somebody take his SAT’s for him. And dare I say if I had the opportunity I would prolly do it to.
I think an important lesson for parents is to apologize to their children for raising them poor. I had a miserable childhood and living in poverty didn’t make it any better. However, if I bring it up now, it’s always “you had a roof over your head and food”. Basically to be happy with the bare minimum. Children catch on quick about finances imo. Just hold yourself accountable and cherish your kids.
I don't even know if Olivia Jade is actually that ignorant and doesn't understand nor feel sorry for her mistakes, but that she hasn't been talked about in a while, so she went on Red Table Talk to have the spotlight on her again. She seems to be just like many influencers, "any attention is better than no attention".
Thank u I was just bout to say that. I like Adrienne don’t get me wrong, but she needs to give everyone else enough time to talk as well. I like to hear the other women’s perspective on the topics too.
As a HBCU graduate I had about 10-15 classmates who parents paid for their grades and even their child’s graduation. When I was in high school my black classmates had people taking their tests for them too. And those parents weren’t rich. It’s not always about white privilege. There’s a lot of cheating between every class and race. But no one talks about that
I like how people apologise for something happening as if they were not there. ‘What i did was shitty’ not ‘what happened was...’. But hey! Look what good it’s done me, spending my day on UA-cam. By the way, ‘deserve??????’. I deserve about a million right now. Who’s going to give it to me?
Just watched the RTT episode with Olivia Jade. Some of the things that Ladies of the Real mentioned Olivia should understand and recognize, it looked like she already have done that during the interview, so my question is - did they watched the whole episode or based their opinions only on that one quote?
They weren't saying true things. I watched the interview and she was very raw. She never asked for a handout or forgiveness really. She asked for a platform to tell her side. If it was about money and fame she did not have to go onto the show. Also, give the girl some credit. She said she's going to do more to serve the community and bridge a gap. When will we ever get to a point of making enough room for future forgiveness.
She asked for a second chance, but she said she didn’t want pity. She said she wanted a chance to actually apologize and before she wasn’t allowed to speak on this at all for legal reasons, so this was her opportunity to do so. Obviously there is more work involved from her side, beyond just this, if she has actually learned and changed before people will forgive her. However, I don’t like the way people are spinning the intention of the interview without at least watching the full thing. I think people are just riled up because of the unfairness of her whole situation and are unfortunately unable to hear her words from a neutral point of view.
There’s a difference between talking and action. Just because you go and apologize and say you’re going to do something doesn’t mean you deserve forgiveness.
My childhood is my mom and I, I didn't know really about money but I feel like she didn't really hide it from me plus how we lived, walked, ate, talked let me know it wasn't easy. I asked for stuff but her reply was always truthful when it was no. In my teenage years, I didn't ask for thing anymore because I understand more and knew our purpose but let me tell you when she proposed me a playstation, I didn't believe it for very very long time.... and the thing that I cared for first was if it will be okay for whatever budget we have, so yes I think it's an important lesson for kids but there's a way
I didnt see it as repairing her public image. I see her not quite sure how to break through the barrier of people like us and out harsh internet criticism. So she chose a platform that is known for helping that exact situation out..... everybodys gotta start somewhere and if it was the wrong choice for her to start at RTT, you then should hold Jada accountible for allowing it.
Agreed! You could tell they just skimmed the interview. She did take ownership, that it was a mistake and wrong. She is trying to earn a second chance by donating her time to under privileged kids. Do I think that a scholarship for an under privileged kid is a good idea, heck yes! But I still think they wouldn't want to give her a second chance. I think they are so privileged now that they forget where they came from ,and the mistakes they have made. Sad.
Thank you Adrian thank you Lonnie parents should be honest we don’t have it we can’t afford it don’t teach children they can have things they can’t afford because when they can’t afford it then they find other ways to go out there and get them through stealing or drugs or whatever
I disagree with Jeanie’s last point about finances: “You got this bed. You got this food. Etc.” You should never throw your responsibilities as a parent, in the face of a child YOU chose to have. You can be transparent without throwing your responsibilities in their face as if it’s their privilege.
This girl on olivia makes me feel the co-hosts dont research their topics by that i mean it doesnt seem like they watched the interview. Gammy did question 'her ass' and even told olivia that she doesnt have the ebergy to care that she lost her endorsements another thing olivia did mention she started working if im not mistaken an after school programme and is still trying to figure out the best way to give and not just throw money but really give her time as well. The interview wasnt all rainbows and sunshines that this girl chat made it feel like it was
Mine was the opposite, my parents were quite comfortable when I was growing up, but they lost their business and we really struggled when I was teenager, they never said anything but I noticed when my mother started sewing my clothes to repair them rather than replacing them. Still grateful for everything though.
I’m going to listen to this bc I missed the first few minutes. FYI I had to mention that I’m loving Loni’s scarves!! She has to show me how she does it. Maybe have a short segment on demonstrating how she does them with her braids bc I would love to know! All of you ladies look beautiful btw. 😍😍😍😍
Why would she deny herself inheritance when she didn't plan on doing anything in the first place. She still needs the money. But she is young and she misses the media fans praising her.
Reminds me of Ethan Couch, the affluenza teen. And how privilege allowed him to not understand the consequences of his actions according to his legal defense.
About venting about your finances to your kids DONT! They will embarrass you about it sooner or later😂😂 when you can't buy them something just say next time😂 or ask them where's that thing that you bought them the other time, it always humbles mine💁🏽♀️
I’m gonna be honest if she felt like she needed to say something and needed to be heard she would’ve did it as soon as the allegations started... why wait almost two. Years to tell your story ! Not to mention she contradicted herself she said “ everybody did this , everybody does this “ and that to me basically her way of saying “ we have privilege and we use it “ but she didn’t recognize that she basically summed up yeah I recognize the advantages I have but she just didn’t realize they were a bad thing... it shouldn’t have to take backlash to realize the privilege you have
I don’t view privilege as a bad thing if people recognize it and do good in this world. It’s only a bad thing when they abuse it and she did more than abuse it, her family became criminals. This is more than the color of her skin getting her places or having money, they knowingly engaged in criminal activity when they pretended their daughter was something she wasn’t and the daughter went along with it. That’s wrong and more than just privilege. It’s like if a kid steals from a candy store it’s a crime and should be corrected. They knowingly stole from another person who deserved to be there more. It’s unforgivable and she needs to change the way she is from the inside.
To me when u have privilege you use it to help those who aren’t so fortunate not just only when it benefits you... if she didn’t want to go to college why not just choose not to go and give that spot to someone else who worked hard to get there
As a mum I would never inform my child that we are broke broke and that we are about to be evicted etc. Listen let kids be kids. Don’t involve them in adult situation. Kids can’t comprehend issues like that. Just teach your kids that they can’t just get what they want always. Kids love experiences and love time spent with them. Create family traditions that don’t cost a thing
Personally I have parents who would hide any financial stuff from me, but as soon as I began working (15ish) they were straight forward with me about that sort of thing. They wanted me to be a kid but as soon as I personally felt old enough to work and make my own money, that's when they wanted to teach me how to be smart financially which meant telling me a bit more - they definitely did not and still do not tell me EVERYTHING but I can understand that coming from a parents POV.
Love the chemistry between these four. I know it's hard with all the ladies working remotely but there's too much talking over each other and raising their voices to be heard 😭
exactly, they have 100 times more privilege than any other middle class white person. They talk so much about ''recognizing your privilege'' yet they haven't followed their own advice for some reason.
It’s not even about their privileges. It’s about how far they went on this discussion where they actually started lecturing about right and wrong. Adrienne slept with a married man. Loni tried to sabotage Tamar and get her fired from the show. Jeanie went to jail twice. They’ve all made mistakes and tried to cover up and rebuild their image. They’re hypocrites.
Olivia did better than I expected. Glad to see she recognized the privilege she had growing up, but I doubt the system will change. Too much greed and corruption in the universities. This has been happening for decades; it's only now they've been caught.
They say every 7 years people change, and Adrienne has changed to get on my damn nerves lol I love her but girl stop acting like you cant relate. You believe she’s talented and can make it on your own but you was just crying about the sound of your own voice after decades long success. She wants to keep the name for the same reason you always bringing up 3LW and cheetah girls 🙄
She’s evolved SINCE THAT TIME!!! She’s released a Christmas album 3 years after that moment she opened up... she’s sung on the show SEVERAL TIMES for the past 7 seasons and has a husband that encourages her to be her best cuz she has a gift ! She didn’t like the sound of her voice only because of how people made her feel once she came out of the cheetah girls saying she sounds like s little girl... when she was grown and wanting to expand , it wasn’t really what she expected cuz it wasn’t what she wanted... but now she is on her grind and loves singing again
8:29 "Don't come over here girl cause we got questions" ... LMAO Jeannie Mail. Literally saying what i'm thinking. Red Table Talk let her leave without saying anything!
Let’s be real here, when I get my inheritance in the future I’m not going to give it all away to people I don’t know because of a “mistake I did in a past”I’ll still leave it for my future children..
I think it's good to be honest with children but definitely not to overburden them with finances. I am happy that my parents told me, for example, to ask them if we had enough money for toys I wanted rather than just ask for them when I was a kid. That taught me to appreciate the value of money and that my parents had to work. I don't think children should be in a bubble, there's just a way to deliver information without worrying them.
Adrienne's little comment about women keeping their ex-husband's last name after a divorce doesn't sit right with me. My mom divorced my dad when I was two and she STILL has his last name 23 years later. She HATES him and she will always hate him but that name doesn't just connect her to him. It connects her to the family that she married into that she still has a wonderful relationship with and it connects her to me, as I have my dad's last name too. She's engaged to a wonderful person now who ALSO has their ex-spouse's last name due to the fact that all of her children do. They have BOTH agreed that they will keep the last names they have now, even AFTER they are married. Sometimes there is more to a decision to keep your ex's last name after a divorce so don't start judging someone for that. It isn't always about "hanging onto him". Sometimes there are valid alternative reasons for a decision like that.
Theres a lot of entitlement that came out of the college admissions scandel, and Olivias statement highlights another which is specific to her age group. A lot of kids her age and younger grew up in a time where everything they did was celebrated and they faced no real consequences for bad behavior. Its a problem that many teachers speak out against; the entitlement of gen z and gen alpha, who are hard to discipline because they think their opinions are law. Its ridiculous and something needs to be done about it.

thats why they said what they said, and they all had to work for their riches to get to where they are now, but money does make u privileged in a sense, and i understand ur hurt, and praying for u and ur family's well being, pray u make it through ❤️🙏🏽
Hello please subscribe to Lovely Lasean channel. She post work from home jobs EVERY DAY. I've even gotten a couple of jobs from her channel. God bless you
Yyesss! This drives me CRAZY! All these women are for sure privileged NOW. It drives me nuts they want her to give away ALL HER MONEY. Who does that? Do I think a scholarship for an under privileged kid to go to USC is a great idea? Yes! I DEFINITELY think she should set one up! To balance out the kid's place she took. Do I think she should give ALL OF HER INHERITANCE away? No! That makes zero sense.
Stay strong luv! I know the server jobs are suffering big time right now! I pray you find the strength and financial miracle you need!❤❤
These ladies worked their asses off to get where they are today, they struggled and have made it no secret about their hardships. The privilege they are talking about goes beyond money, its about the fact Olivia's parents basically got a slap on the wrist because of the color of their skin. I'm sorry for the hardships you are facing but seeing these women should give you hope given their stories, keep the faith.
Never complain to your children about money. Let kids be kids and figure it out. God bless
I’m missing Amanda’s Seales points of view. I feel like she takes it to more educated, knowledgeable level than what’s happening now. I really miss that.
She was too real or the real
@@cwchris_ yeah it’s like Jeannie and Adriennes responses are so expected 😑 miss Amanda
@@MJ-vb7un she took on a more serious standpoint against serious issues and she got mad when someone needed to get mad, and they didn’t like her for it.
@@cwchris_ she was just so educated and informed when she spoke. It’s become such an emotionally driven show now with no facts or context, not Loni.
@@MJ-vb7un we need to stop being sad and shocked by racist things happening in the world. We need to get mad. It’s the only way to invoke real change.
I completely agreed with Jada's mother!
Adrienne is completely right coming from humble beginnings dies build character!! Girl you are ready to be a mom!’ U will be awesome !
Jeannie said everything w the college scandal 👏🏿👏🏿
This is the perfect hairstyle and legth for Jeannie!
Adrienne said what alot of us been thinking. I would not still want that last name.
She sure didn't seem sorry while she was out at celebrity parties the entire time this scandal was occurring
She was just trying to regain her insta promos
100%
I was raised in Africa most my childhood till I was 13. We weren’t rich, we didn’t have the gadgets or things kids in the west had. But I can honestly say I had the most fun filled childhood. I never knew we lived on money sent by relatives in the West. We got enough to eat and have a roof over our head.
We were so creative making up fun games. Using candles at night because electricity was a privilege. It was fun and amazing. Learned so much and experienced so much.
So in so many words she needs to walk the walk and not talk the talk.
Why don’t they ever wish eid Mubarak or Ramadan kareem
I wish they had a middle eastern or muslim cohost
Can't wait that day
I was about to comment the same thing! They do it for everyone except Muslims. Anyway, i still love this show and these ladies.
Thank you
The thing about the last name, as a daughter of a divorced mom who didn't change her last name, I can tell you that not only is it a huge procedure to go around changing it, but my mom also didn't want to go from having the same one as me to suddenly having a different one, and having to explain that to all my friends. It's a personal choice, and there's nothing wrong with it.
Garcelle's "what job" and Loni's face, LOL!
Garcelle said "what jobs?" Lmaooooooo the shade
Caught that too 😂😂😂
girl I screamed when I heard that 🤣🤣🤣
I didnt know buying your kids way into college was "common" thing lmao!!
Man I wish it was common lol wtf am I in debt for
I wasn't surprised because my parents taught me at a young age that if you have money, you have power and it buys your way into a lot of things that commoners cannot. It also buys your way out. I'm actually more surprised by the public's reaction. Isn't this what the rich been doing since the beginning of time? I don't mean just universities but other aspects in life.
@@jyn88 Exactly my thoughts. This been happening since the beginning of time. Its no shocker.
There goes Adrienne and Jeannie interrupting again
Adrienne talks for way too long. I think she needs to be mindful to let others talk as well
Agree her and Jeannie need to hush sometimes
Thank u I was just bout to say that. I like Adrienne don’t get me wrong, but she needs to give everyone else enough time to talk as well. I like to hear the other women’s perspective on the topics too.
@@iacobus4227
Stop interrupting..when the other host try to talk..I notice she gets louder...
I agree
I would be sooo grateful if the would only stop interrupting Loni
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Jeanie girl, the early 2000s you were an adult already not in your childhood... lol she cracks me up
Just watched the RTT episode with Olivia Jade.
That's exactly how I felt, I don't think they watched the entire clip...
I haven't watched it myself but I wondered if the ladies truly watched the entire interview before they passed judgment.
@@jyn88 it honestly doesn't seem so.
Jeannie’s face when they started talking about the ex’s topic.🤣😅 If looks can talk... Jeannie said everything!
Loni face when Garcelle said “what job” lol 😂
Jeannie: “she said the name gets her the interviews, gets her the jobs”-
Garcelle: “What job 🤨?”
I- 😂😂😂😂😂😂💀💀💀💀 I see why she’s a Housewife 😭
Lol!
Right 😭😭 I think everyone skipped over that but I wanna know what she's doing
Loni's face after she said that is too funny!
When???🥴🥴😄😄
I disagree with not telling your kids about financial situations. Jeannie is right.
My childhood is my mom and I, I didn't know really about money but I feel like she didn't really hide it from me plus how we lived, walked, ate, talked let me know it wasn't easy. I asked for stuff but her reply was always truthful when it was no. In my teenage years, I didn't ask for thing anymore because I understand more and knew our purpose but let me tell you when she proposed me a playstation, I didn't believe it for very very long time.... and the thing that I cared for first was if it will be okay for whatever budget we have, so yes I think it's an important lesson for kids but there's a way
JEANNIES HAIR LOOKS SO BEAUTIFUL!!! GORGEOUS JEANNIE😘😘😘💓💓💓
I can tell ya didn't watch the full interview
Why? Just curious - what was your opinion from the interview?
@@BlossomingTalent The details stated were all mixed up. I agree this girl knew she was privileged ,etc.
@@freakywalrus exactly
Sad.
I miss Tam. She was so good in communicating a message and explaining her point and being subjective. Loni is always in her own feelings
Etc.”
You should never throw your responsibilities as a parent, in the face of a child YOU chose to have. You can be transparent without throwing your responsibilities in their face as if it’s their privilege.
Can we appreciate The Real for uploading a video this long 😌
Garcielle: "what job?" 😂
Why would she ever not accept her inheritence that's crazy come on
I’m going to listen to this bc I missed the first few minutes. FYI I had to mention that I’m loving Loni’s scarves!! She has to show me how she does it. Maybe have a short segment on demonstrating how she does them with her braids bc I would love to know! All of you ladies look beautiful btw. 😍😍😍😍
"Come on here and say dat!
I'mma question you ass!"
Leave it to Lonnie Love to step up to ya😂😂😂
I loved this discussion.
There's on thing apologizing because you realized you were wrong and another thing saying sorry because you got caught.
There is no battle between Ashanti and Keyshia Cole. It’s Ashanti ALL DAYYY. No competition.
He actually hurt somebody though. We really acting like these people killed somebody. It ain’t really that deep.
She can't take blame because they can charge her for this as an adult. Her lawyers I'm sure told her what to say. This is a classic PR tour.
Jeannie is speaking FACTS!
Adrianne is on point 100%.. That young lady needs to be the 2nd change show show us through behavioral change.
I love you Loni Love! Your heart is so pure and honest.
Not to mention she contradicted herself she said “ everybody did this , everybody does this “ and that to me basically her way of saying “ we have privilege and we use it “ but she didn’t recognize that she basically summed up yeah I recognize the advantages I have but she just didn’t realize they were a bad thing... it shouldn’t have to take backlash to realize the privilege you have
She couldn't say anything because the case was still being processed i believe
To me when u have privilege you use it to help those who aren’t so fortunate not just only when it benefits you... if she didn’t want to go to college why not just choose not to go and give that spot to someone else who worked hard to get there
I always felt that way about Drea Kelly. I’m so glad they spoke about it.
Amen Adrian I love your words today!
Love the chemistry between these four. I know it's hard with all the ladies working remotely but there's too much talking over each other and raising their voices to be heard 😭
Dear ladies of The Real, did y'all forget about your talk show host privilege?
They forgot that everyone has privileges, just differently than others and some has more or less.
@@jyn88 thank youuu 👏👏 also privilege isnt always a bad thing 👀
How did they "forget" their privilege?
exactly, they have 100 times more privilege than any other middle class white person.
Did Jeannie say ''belt these songs of my childhood?'' Girl, you were in your twenties.
😂🤣😂
Yes!!!! Omg I was thinking the Same thing !!! I was like thinking to myself umm girl like you’re in your 40s now 🤦🏼♀️ her childhood is in the 80s
She's repeating what Garcelle said
She’s evolved SINCE THAT TIME!!!
Can we have a moment to 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 all of Loni's head wraps and how fire they're matching with her outfits
Yass you took the words outta my mouth. Really loving the african print one she has on this girlchat. So beautiful💙.
8:29 "Don't come over here girl cause we got questions" ... LMAO Jeannie Mail. Literally saying what i'm thinking. Red Table Talk let her leave without saying anything!
Lmaooo Loni’s face when Adrienne was explaining Olivia jades story 😭😩
Andrea Kelly also said that she kept it because her children has that name.
my mom makes jokes saying that i'm going to inherit her debt LMAOOOOOO
they all hit da targets 🎯💯🤷🏽♀️
Olivia to get respect you have to show people you are willing to be respected 💯 Facts I’m with Jeannie and Adrienne.
I've experienced that, and it puts some pressure and stress on your kids. Even if they're young adults. I think it's important to know things.
Let’s be real here, when I get my inheritance in the future I’m not going to give it all away to people I don’t know because of a “mistake I did in a past”I’ll still leave it for my future children..
I would if I could but will not only a health problems that wouldnt or me any way.😢
I think it's good to be honest with children but definitely not to overburden them with finances. I am happy that my parents told me, for example, to ask them if we had enough money for toys I wanted rather than just ask for them when I was a kid. That taught me to appreciate the value of money and that my parents had to work. I don't think children should be in a bubble, there's just a way to deliver information without worrying them.
I wish they would mute Jeannie when she’s talking over everybody 🙄
😆
She did make some good points though 🤷🏿♀️
@@C2G2 yeah but she’s rude.
Yeah 😂😂😅😊😊
Lonnies face after the question on Olivia & her Mom’s scandal 😂
Theres a lot of entitlement that came out of the college admissions scandel, and Olivias statement highlights another which is specific to her age group. A lot of kids her age and younger grew up in a time where everything they did was celebrated and they faced no real consequences for bad behavior. Its a problem that many teachers speak out against; the entitlement of gen z and gen alpha, who are hard to discipline because they think their opinions are law. Its ridiculous and something needs to be done about it.
I love how Adrienne was raised and how she turned everything into something to be grateful for. Truly a beautiful woman inside and out💞
I'm here for Loni's demeanor.
I used to sing “I should’ve cheated” by Keyshia cole out of the top of my lungs and I did have a boo I was having trouble with but I was 14 😂😂😂. I will always love that song though
A FULL EPISODE?!
HELL YEAH😎
"My kid speaks three languages" definitely not a way to show off your kids if you're an immigrant lol
