Love old Mustangs and that’s such a sweet car! Do what you can to get it back on the road…worse thing to do to a car is let it set. The aggravation of fixing these classics is more than offset by the pride of getting to drive them. Keep the content coming I so enjoy your videos.
Ah yes, the heater core....did that on my 71 Cougar. Had to remove the passenger seat and swore like a sailer. Gave myself two 4-hour days to remove, replace the heater core and seals, clean the area, ect. Fun times......
I did a heater core in a 81 Mustang ,had to drop the steering shaft down ,remove the top of the dashboard anb glove box. My first time took me all weekend.
Jeff I feel your pain. Years ago my 1988 Ford Ranger 4x4 the little truck. The heater core thought it would be a good idea to leak all over the passenger footwell. I looked up under the dash. And thought I'm not doing that there's like no room for your hands. Called the local Ford dealer and one day later it was fixed just not by me. I'll tackle just about anything ,but not that.
You could just loop the heater hose back and bypass the heater core so you could go for a drive. I'd love to see how you R&R the heater box. Just bleep the cus words and let us follow along. Great video, though. Thanks for all you do.
Hey, Jeff. Bill here from Mostly Mustangs in CT. Haven't seen or spoken to you since you left the magazine business and went to work for RRS. Hope all is well with you and yours. The Ford Autolite/Motorcraft 4300, 4300D and 4350 carburetors were some of the worst Ford carbs ever with the possible exception of the company's infamous variable venturi models. No matter who performed the work or how well 4300 series were rebuilt, they will eventually give you trouble. There are some mods that can improve them but are not cure-alls. I've dealt with scores of them through the years and usually ditched them unless required for concourse show purposes. B.T.W. If you ever run across an original Autolite 4300D for a Boss 351, despite being an unreliable performer, it's the most sought-after and valuable of all the carbs in the series. It could be that the same group of FoMoCo engineers credited for designing those carbs also designed the heater core assembly...😉
good stuff at least alternators are cheap to rebuild rebuild mine 247k or so before it died 268k miles on it now is300 lexus i find it fun how 7.00 brushs and fresh grease in bearings can do it up well to go another 100k
Just be sure to what ever you do don't use nothing but the special Olympics lubricant so it's much more holistic because if the double Doobie Holder is occupied wait your turn. magnifying. Ps last time I seen that unit was on a police 385 interceptor. Bad boy
I would love to see how you take out the heater box and replace its core. Unfortunately that's exactly the same issue I have currently in my car and can't find any good How-To... Am afraid to break this if I start to do it on my own :(
I have a 4300 and 4300D sitting on my shelf with currently no where to go. And a Holley 4 barrel, think it may have come off of a 1985 Mustang GT? Not sure. Anyway, me being an old guy now makes me want to leave well enough alone, as my 351C 2V is running pretty good. Still want to put a timing chain in it. The hot rodder from my thrilling days of yesteryear wants me to do stuff to it. Such a dilemma. Our next car club meeting is Tuesday night. Maybe somebody can talk some sense into me. Or not lol!
Loop the heater line at the water pump and go drive it! Worse case you find something else you need to address. Best case you and your wife will enjoy some time out cruising forgetting about the rest of the trivial stuff.
Oh man! A heater core replacement in that car with factory AC is a whole lot of pain. Would K-Seal fix it? Am wondering as it did for me but it was a slower heater core leak than what your Mustang has.
content wise i bet a few folks would like to see the case replacement, get well soon Cam.
My eye twitch started again when you said heater core. 😖
😂😂
Thankfully, a Wawa nearby has non-ethanol gas. Nice to have the option for lawn equipment and older project cars.
It always happens, brother 😊
Thanks for the awesome video.

looking at rebuilding my 69 heater box. Found your rebuild video...be nice to see how it all comes apart...and maybe even back together.

Restore it, run it, break it, repeat.....isn’t it fun?
Just means you're using them! They want to be driven
My hair has a little wave, too; it waved goodbye.

I would like to see you take the heater core out. My 1970 Torino’s heater core failed and I’m thinking the Mustang might be somewhat similar.
Yup! 😂 😢 Sorry. But it's worth it!
Jeff cuss? What??!! You should put that on your Patreon account videos 🤣🤣
