    I honestly and without hesitation always proclaim that this is one of the greatest songs ever written. Yup. Still believe it in 2022.

    Tori Amos is a never-ending journey. You always find something new in her work, doesn't matter how often you listen to them. To me, she is the greatest living American songwriter.

    "I'm experienced babe" should have been on one of her albums... Seriously.

    2nd best performance ever behind 2003 at the Oxygen concert. Super talented and I hope she is on a boat somewhere with a billion dollars bc she deserves it. 💙

    Tori has the most magical voice that I have EVER heard! Throw in her hauntingly beautiful piano playing and the result is breathtakingly beautiful music!

    Amazing! Also love the sense of humor and just general openness of her, plus the backstory. The song resonates with me because of my own backstory; though "his jeans" were way too big for me to wear.

    ... a Bösendorfer handled by an absolute genius. This is definitely a match made in heaven if there ever was one :-)

      True, but a genius like her could make good music on any kind of instrument.

    When she started singing Cher's version , I said damn she is so great ... when she started singing "Tina Turner's" version , I said damn this is why she is a legend. I knew about Tori long ago but this video came to me within a year ago ... she is crazy beautiful here but she has always been sexy ;) Another classic video of her is , caught a light sneeze live (red shirt) :) You are welcome by the way , if you never saw that video before.

    Original as they come. She is like no one. And not just different, but that difference, is all of the technical excellence yes, but what it really is, is this sort of a "restrained tension". The cry of womanhood. Men roid rage, and destroy shit and put their anger and pain all in everyone's faces. Women, often "seethe", with a deeper sorrow and even in their most tortured moments, hold back from just letting it all out, often because they feel society has relegated them to that limited expression. The pain grows and becomes a demented, quiet beast of it's own. Not her, her pain. For that reason, men just don't know the true level of pain, anger, and frustration many women experience. You can feel her powerfully express it, but in a contained kind of way. The simultaneous contradiction, explains women, and nobody I've ever heard has done it. And yes, some men, including myself, can feel that as well. I feel it. I live it. I understand it (not that I don't occasionally rage).It resonates through all of her music. It's "quietly" more powerful than any Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden. It's real. You can't fake that. It's so much a part of her, she has made a technical artistry out of it and can impose it on anything. That's why she is awesome with any cover song. Overlaying the original with Tori is just something entirely new and magnificent. No better example than Teen Spirit. Kurt felt it. Which I guess is no surprise he's no longer with us. He expressed what she does, but in his style. That repetitious listing of things, part in anger, part in frustration, part in a I've-lost-it monotone perversion of communication. Then when Tori takes that same feeling, and expresses it in her style, well It's like a lovely duet of tortured restraint. And she's so in touch with it, just a few piano keys and immediately you feel her brand of restrained tension in the song, like nobody else can do. I sat in a concert hall in Dallas (working there temporarily) and it was the only time I've seen her besides TV. So close, it was fantastic. Such an artist at work to behold. I was in the middle of a bunch of young girls who you could tell followed her around the country. I'm not sure what they thought of me, like the only middle aged man, singing every song. For me, it was as it should be. I joined them in spirit, elevation and admiration. We were on the same ride. The power of music, can break through the shell of our outer and get right to the inside, which can be the same stuff in there, no matter what differences we have on the outside. I'm straight and rather stereotypically so. I've said sometimes that Tori puts me in touch with my feminine side. I think it really puts people off when I say that. They might wonder about just what I mean. I've tried to explain it, but they won't understand if they don't listen. Without Tori, I wouldn't fully understand that aspect of others and myself. There are other artists that express a contained frustration, but not in such a feminine way. And for any fool out there, that is not to say weak in anyway. Extremely powerful. And how she expresses that, and also such beauty all at the same time, seems impossible. Such is a woman. Thank You.

    But I'm experienced, Bard, I'm experienced babe, shoot out now (how)... Get fired now work up a whine, you just dont know what you're doing well...
    And drew Little Earthquakes, your life story... Excuse me, got thee, and Christ, I know, you never shoot Me .. sometimes I hear my voice and it's been He, silent awe these years. What so mazing about really deep thoughts, my scream got lost in a pay per Cup...here....silent awe....silent awe... Silent all these years....

    Umm, it's pretty, and minor changes are expected, but it's missing the bridge, the peak of the song really, so ... it feels incomplete to say the least.

    • @richard-mtl
      @richard-mtl Рік тому +1

      Yes, I was so looking forward to the bridge, and then she skipped it. Still beautiful, but I agree, incomplete.

    I wonder what the hell the engineer was thinking piling all that reverb on her voice starting about 3:15 ?! She certainly doesn't need it to sound good, so all it accomplishes is muddying up her vocal. At least by about 3:30 or so it seems like someone at the board notices and turns it down to a more reasonable level.

  • @pgzzz
