Reeda, I enjoy watching your videos mostly because I know I would Love to sit there and observe squirrels coming up to me while I feed them. They are such interesting creatures that have so many different personalities and habits. We have this Mama Squirrel that has visited us for 3 years now. The first year when she was born, she hurt herself in the lower rear end to where she had to lay down to eat and support herself. This occurred for about 3 months untill she fully recovered. I never gave up on her and made sure she was fed well and not interrupted by other squirrels while she ate. I would need to toss peanuts toward squirrels to keep them occupied and away from her. She always seemed to get comfortable with me and as she healed, she would take food from my hand so gently. Needless to say, she has had 2-3 litters and she always brings the new babies to our deck to introduce them to us. It is so funny. The best thing about her nowdays is that she has turned into a spoiled diva. There are times during feeding, that she will reject everything except walnuts in the shell. I wish I could show you how she acts. You would laugh hysterically. I have experimented with many different combinations of nuts and when she says no, she means no, and demands walnuts in the shell. I just wanted to share this with you after reading your title to this video.
Thank you for sharing. The current Diva is Pierced R Ear Squirrel... or was. I had a feeling that she's longer with us. I miss her spunkiness and am mourning for the loss of our connection. I could use a hand fedding them They are getting almost barbaric at last stop! :)
@@rforreedasforsquirrel5310 Hi Reeda, are you saying that Pierced R Ear Squirrel may not be with you any longer? I am sorry if that is true and share in your loss and empty feelings. It is never easy on our mind and feelings to see and injured squirrel or lose one that we have bonded with and that and become so dear to our hearts. It feels like I am being smothered and every bit of oxygen is taken from my lungs as I go through mixed feelings of anxiety. I find it hard to find any good out of a loss, but to just be thankful that I have had the opportunity to have met and share precious time with such a magical creature that warms our hearts. I always wish there was something I could do or have done to change the outcome, but realize that it is nature and out of my control. That is when I realize to enjoy every moment with them and never take anything for granted. They are with us for such a short time. I hope you can be rest assured that your bond and presence with this squirrel has enhanced it's life, as much as yours while it was with us on earth 😘🐿❤🥰🙏
Thank you! That 1:17 was lovely to read. Mama & PES both opened their hearts to me as do I. When PES showed up at the last stop on May 15th (Wed), She seemed to be “drunk”, she recognized me and the treat box sound but not immediately. Her facial complexion was 2 shades darker, I spent last 15-20 min with her before alarm went off and also took 4 short videos before sending her off with a big walnut in shell. I wish I wasn’t scheduled bound but jobs are what put treat on the table. The next visit was on Sat May 18th, I just knew I didn’t need to buy grapes (for her) the day before, she didn’t show. Sunday, no show, either, Unlike with Mama, I kept hoping. But this time, I just knew that PES was gone. Just like mama, she’d come at all stops, and pay 10-20 visits, many long ones, I feel strongly connected to both, on a soul, cellular level and it’s not one-sided. I would give up a year of my life in exchange for another healthy year of theirs anytime! I accepted the cold hard fact but the sense of loss lingers. The connections w/ Mama & PES are beyond comprehension; not the same w/ #1 Avocado Fan, #2 Squirrel Mom or or Half Blind Squirrel or Bano Squirrel (gone since 08’23). One by one, those who have crossed paths w/Mama Squirrel is gone, and it'll be the nexgen. As I wrote before, due to budget, it’s now 2X park visits a week, plus I will only visit the site on Wed/Sat to reply & arrange videos while using free public wifi. Viewers wont notice the difference, because there are now 3 shorts on Sundays. Ground Squirrels seem to notice the skipped visit so I am practically “mobbed” when there. I am trying to figure out to feed both species (ground & tree Squirrels) without conflict. 4 Times I’ve scheduled grocery shops nearby to replenish the treat and return.Record high was 9 lbs of Unshelled peanuts!

I am also saddened by your loss of Mama & PES, along with several other squirrels you have bonded with. I always wish there was something more I could do to help things. I see and hear of all of the ugliness that happens in this world and then something innocent and beautiful such as a loving squirrel gets hurt or loses its live for no reason. It doesn't make sense to me sometimes. I also wish I could help you out in some way so you could go see your furry friends more often. You have sent me many stamps, and I can send your some squirrels treats to help compensate. Please don't hesitate, just let me know what you could best use for them, and I will probably just direct ship to you from Amazon as that would be cheaper than me shipping from my home. Try to smile and remember all of the good times with them, and remember YOU made a positive impact on their lives. I have just ordered and received some healthy things to make for them. I bought a calcium supplement and vitamin supplements for squirrels to add to a homemade mixture of ground/chopped walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts and almonds. This is all mixed together with nut butter to bind it all together. I am looking forward to giving that to the squirrels starting on Sunday, 061514. I will let you know how they like it.
