For those who are new to working with gesso and don't know where to buy it... Gesso can be found at art supplies stores, craft shops, the art supplies area of department stores, etc. You can also get it through art supplies mail catalogs, or online. Amazon, of course, has it, too. :)
I love all your videos and I've really learned so much. I have to try this technique myself. One question: Do you always use the sponge on technique when working with acrylic paint? I hate brush marks when doing furniture :-( Thanks for sharing and all you do to teach others.
Joanne, I really like this look and I will try it. I have a question for you. What range of color I would need of a burgundy color leather and if doing a foot stool with pleats would I just go over the pleat. I was looking through my minis just yesterday and found this little 4piece set and was thinking about the other method you use, but I like this one better.

:) Todo depende del efecto que la miniaturista desea obtener para su projecto. Ella queria imitar un sillon de cuero. La tecnica que ella demuestra en el video es como obtener el efecto de un sillon de cuero viejo que ha tenido mucho uso.
thank you so much for all your help & ideas :o) I'm planning on making the nursery ryme "the old women in shoe who had to many children" but in Bunny form cause I collect bunnies :o). I have the shoe but I have to cover it cause it's a wire form.the project will be in 1/2 scale. When finshed I will have pics up on my facebook page. Thanks again :o)

can you use gesso on top of plaster cloth after the plaster cloth dries,to give a smoother look?
thank you :o)
Looks great, but can't imagine it's soft to sit on anymore
LOL so far not one of the dolls have complained so I think they are okay with it.
can you list all the products that you just used for the leather like chair?
Nice, but I wonder if you could achieve the same effect by dry brushing and black wash.
You could do that, but probably the weave of the fabric will show through, so the surface would not be as smooth as leather.
Thank you for posting this.
Why didn't you do the bottom of the chair with the geoso?

To avoid brush marks the sponge on technique is the way to go. :)
