I have a 78 sedan deville that always has the heater on once it gets up to temp. This gives me a great starting point vs trying to visualize how everything actually looks vs the service manual. Nothing like driving during the summer with the heater on lol Thanks!!! That is definitely the most informative I have found!
Thanks for putting this together - very informative! Working on the AC of a 78 Eldorado at the moment... The system stays in full AC all the time and only blows cold air...
Really good video. I believe I need to change the programmer in my 77 ElDorado and this gives me a start as far as locating and removal. I know of a 77 in a salvage yard that I intend to get the programmer out of and hopefully my issues will be behind me. Thanks again.
Informative. The issue that I am having with my '79 coupe is that the heat blows out on the floor vents continuously. I disconnected the blower motor and it still comes out hot. I noticed that in the video that the green vacuum wire was for the floor vents.
Thanks for video. My ac is working but only on defrost. Would you suggest cleaning the contacts on climate control, or how can I tell if it's sending signal to blend door?
Having problems with my 1980 Cadillac deville Climate Controller and ac Programmer. Took apart Climate Controller cleaned and greased but only getting full power of defrost. Checked connection between the climate contoller hoses and programmer but only hose coming from programmer is middle black hose . No vacuum from any others? Any advice?
My 1979 Cadillac Seville is not Working from my Climate Control but the Blower works with the After Market Heat Switch...what do you think my issue could be?
Hey brother thanks for the video. Inhave 1980 cadillac Brougham D'elegance. Do you know where the Fuse panels are? Is there more than under the driver dash??
Great video! I have a 80 Coupe Deville where the AC seems to work , but the blower turns on and off as it pleases.. In your opinion, do you think it could be the blower relay, or the thermo switch? Those are thing i have bougth, so i was kinda grasping for a straw... Thanks for your time.!!
I have a 1980 Coupe deville I got two weeks ago. 80k mile and the ac was blowing just fine. Started taking a while to blow anything out after the 1st week so I replaced the blower motor. Nothing changed. Made sure I had plenty of refrigerant also double checked the compressor and resistor. I'm no car mechanic so I learn as the problems arise. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Do you have ecc if so check blendor controller behind glove box big black box goes from under dash 10" up or so has bunch vacuum lines that un bolt two plugs and electrical motor that moves back and forth researching mine there's a lot of talk about it stripping or coming apart
Recently got a 73 riviera with this system. The previous owner jury rigged a switch to the blower because the fan selector on the dash stopped working. I'd like to put things right. What would be responsible for the fan selector not working. supposedly, the a/c works fine, but the blower won't respond to the dash selector. Thanks, in advance!
Anyone out there replaced the blend air/vacuum door control module on a 1981 Cadillac Eldorado? If so,what is the easiest way to get to it? I'm guessing by the removal of the glove box and glove box door. Also, where can I get a new blend air/vacuum door control module for this car? Any and ALL help greatly appreciated.
Great Video. In that trouble shooting guide do they say anything about some of the fuses in the fuse box working but some of them not having any power?
Hello! Great video with lots of information! I have a problem with my 79 Coupe Deville I can't get the blower blow "wind" on my front windscreen, can i move a door manually to make it blow my windscreen? Greets from the Netherlands
I have a 79 Fleetwood. When I start the car and it heats up to operating temperature I have plenty of heat, works great at first then a short time later (Say a mile away from my starting point - Sometime more / sometimes less) I lose the heat and it blowing cold air. Having a difficulty time diagnosing this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You
Thanks for getting back to me Gregory, I've soled the problem of the air not blowing cold the compressor was not coming on due to the wire on the back of the compressor not being connected it has since been reconnected and the air is now blowing cold, but only from the floor vent and when the control is on Def mode and and heat still does not get warm. Could you send me a picture of the vent door and cable you mentioned in your reply. Thx Todd
There are 3 or 4, 7mm screws holding a black plastic panel under the dash. you have to reove those to get to the fuse box which is right next to the parking brake. There are two fuse boxes. A main box and a relay box which has a fuel pump fuse and injector fuses.
This is the exact setup my '83 superior hearse has; I'm messing with climate control for the first time and I'm having issues. I can turn the switch and get various blower motor speeds but I cannot get the duct work to change direction from the floor. Is this climate control programmer usually the issue? The rod does not move at all when selecting switch options and I'm not sure if it is this part or if I'm having vacuum issues; which by the way if it is a vacuum issue what do I need to look for? Thanks
Sounds like the the vacuum port on the back of the control head has gone bad. It's the round plastic piece on the back of the head that all the vacuum lines plug into.
Hearsedriver I have the same climate control. 1980 Cadillac. Hot and cold door is not operating right. Have got air all the time even when the unit is off. I move the temp dial and door will not move. What should I look at first?
sorry for the late response, start at the shaft that comes out the top of the AC programmer make sure it is rotating and that the connector to the door is connected to it. Make sure the screw that holds the connector to the shaft is tight and not loose. if the shaft is not turning at all check the transducer. Make sure all electrical connections and vacuum lines are good.
Thanks for this video. I hope i can help me with my climate i my 78 eldorado. The fan starts but i am not getting varm air or defogging. Just blows down om my feet
Man i got 1984 Fleetwood brougham with ecc dear god what a pain chased my wiring fixed all problems replaced everything at least 2-6 times still nothing got manuals voltage step by step seems fine yet still dont work at all doesnt even power up never has sense i bought the car if the70-80 trans am doors didnt cost ao much id swap ome in with vantage air
I have had many Cadillacs with this insane climate control system. whoever designed this system should be tracked down. put in a straight jacket and put in an asylum for the rest of his life.totally useless system for a great car and very expensive to repair.
I agree lol funniest electric system to figure out three repair manual still no lucky ecc in 1984 don't work at all I've tried bunch of ecc head unit module box and power distributor and resistor

Where do you find the fusebox on a 1983 Cadillac
There are 3 or 4, 7mm screws holding a black plastic panel under the dash. you have to reove those to get to the fuse box which is right next to the parking brake. There are two fuse boxes. A main box and a relay box which has a fuel pump fuse and injector fuses.
