Great bunch of people doing their best to help the truckie and no injuries to the cattle or anybody apart from maybe a little to the truckies pride, I certainly hope he bought everybody a few ice cold slabs at least!

There was a story about a road train in the Northern Territory where the driver had got himself stuck in a muddy ditch and couldn't get out. He went to get some help and when he got back the entire road train was sitting there on the side of the road. Apparently a grader operator cleaning ditches had come by while he was gone and pulled the entire road train out and parked it on the side of the road.😂😁👍👍

In 2006 when we done the Ord River Crossing and the water was higher than normal and yes it to was a couple truck he got caught up I said to the guy put the straight bar on an the other truck will try to pull you out. Well that didn't work so I said double line or Triple line pull from your truck to the big tree and still using your straight bar well it worked.
I take my hat off to you as a true champion having out a fellow trucker double line winching was an excellent idea but I reckon if you went triple and a strap anchored to a tree behind you so you don't slide forward. But your efforts that you have done have been excellent.

Biggest mistake the truckie made was to try and steer back onto the concrete. He should have stopped the instant his front wheel popped off, then reversing might have got it back on again. If not, the loader bucket would have lifted him back on again. But, life in remote areas is kept interesting with social recovery gatherings :) Luckily the crocs were well fed.....

@@teamd-tour Good to hear and thanks for the update. Realise this wasn't Far North Queensland but visited Kakadu in September '94 and noted the 'abundance' of the crocs at the time as well as the many warning signs - took many photos with one illustrating a Crossing/Ford. Later saw several videos on UA-cam illustrating the presence of crocs at Cahill's Crossing - there were a lot of crocs showing. We checked our photos again recently and realised that the Crossing in our photo was the Cahill's Crossing featured on UA-cam - it sent a few shivers down the spine at the thought. Glad the truck got out safely and totally understand your concern regarding the presence of the crocs in the area.

Was the driver asleep? Can't believe he would drift that far from the markers which clearly showed the roadbed to his left. He must have never driven before. Also, why would you risk further catastrophe by not unloading some of the cattle from the upper deck before winching or pulling? I'd assign that drive to manure laoding duty for a few years until he gets it.

    • @teamd-tour

Yes it was disappointing not to capture the dozer pulling the truck out but it was a very dangerous situation as you must appreciate and as bystanders we felt it was best to give them all a wide berth. It was pitch black, cattle were jumping into the river then running towards the shore. Also there were crocs in that river!! A lot of confusion and chaos and the last thing they needed was some random people videoing

Yes, sorry! It was such a dangerous place to be with dozers, graders 4x4s and people. We thought it best to take a step back and let them get on with it. We didn't want to be a hinderance, It was also very dark and there were crocs in that river!! It all ended well, the cattle were rounded up, the truck was saved and the driver as you saw the following morning was on his merry way 😀

Might have Road Train sign but when this happened it was not a Road Train, it was just 1 trailer and a dolly on behind.

Now, now boys. It was one trailer and a dolly BUT he was on his way to drop the lead trailer to go back and pick up the other 2 trailers. The exit on the bank was too steep for 3 trailers🙂

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !"
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ."
Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

I was surprised that the truck wasn't trying to drive whilst on the double line pull! Surely that could have helped, especially with the weight difference. Pls correct me if I am wrong about this.

His right hand wheels weren't touching the ground. The left inside tyre was only just touching the causeway due to the angle of the axle.

she thinks she is the cause of this? how arrogant and you didnt have a kinetic rope to tow...even worse

    • @teamd-tour
      @teamd-tour  11 місяців тому

Thanks for your comment 😀 The fact that that driver had been over the causeway more than 20 times without incident and then he spotted Heather videoing him , it was more than feasible that she may have distracted him. With the kinetic rope, everybody knows you don't use a kinetic rope when there is such a disparity in vehicle weight.

Sorry we couldn't show you how the truck got out. That would have been amazing. To video it we would have been in the way of the rescue. t was extremely dark, dangerous with so many machines and people about and of course there were crocs in the water. The animals were released from the truck. They jumped into the river and took off towards the river bank. They were rounded up the following day. The dozer managed to pull the truck out. 😅
