    This reminds me of a story I read in the Darwin Awards where a man put his guns and ammunition in the oven for safekeeping whilst he and his wife went off on holiday, only to completely forget about it and when they got home, his wife turned on the oven to prepare dinner and...... well, the important thing is neither of them were killed.

      Bullets be like that sometimes

    • @Trask698
      @Trask698 6 місяців тому +6

      My guess is since the ammo and guns would be stored in cabinets, drawers, or whatever at maybe waist or higher level, or maybe even leaning if they were big enough, most of the bullets would be at a level where it would be possible to hit someone at that angle (except the ones through the floor, that straight up doesn't make sense unless it was hanging from the wall or something). Also they weren't taking cover in the beginning, so they were more exposed and likely to get hit.
      Then the shots start coming, they take cover, less likely to get hit. Who knows, maybe the shots even moved the guns so they were pointing in a less harmful direction. But then again, tv show logic and all that. I doubt they put any thought into it beyond "this happened in real life, so let's use it for drama".

    • @theheroneededwillette6964
      @theheroneededwillette6964 6 місяців тому +1

      Yeah this whole thing does seem a little contrived that some burning guns and ammo stored away just happened to repeatedly fire so many times in so many different directions that also so happened to be in the direction of people to the point of nailing them with better accuracy than most people can.
      I mean wouldn’t the ammo just explode right away, wouldn’t the parts that rechamber the bullets stop working due to the fire damage, and don’t most weapons need physical input from the user to do said rechambering?

    This reminds me of a 2020 active shooter and subsequent fire in Honolulu. After two officers were killed in an eviction dispute, the suspect set fire to the dwelling. The police kept the firefighters back for their safety. As a result, the fire spread to the surrounding houses causing a total of 7 houses to burn down in an affluent neighborhood.

    Since Illinois is not an open carry state, the stupid kid not telling them he had guns and ammunition in the house isn't surprising. He's in the city limits, so just possessing the guns gets him in big trouble. But not telling them lands him in more trouble.

      It depends on what kind of fire it is as not all fires can be put out with water and can pose a greater danger and also when gunfire is going off, they can’t practically do anything as they would be putting themselves in unnecessary danger and is against protocol to do anything when gunfire is going off. I hope this information helps but I believe they should be warned before they entered the building of the live ammo so I 100% blame that kid for getting people shot and a firefighter almost dead

Because when I was in high school we had a dumb brat who brought some ammo (9mm and 7.62) and during a lull in chemistry class he placed it near an open flame just to see what would happen, he was under the belief that it wouldn't go off without a firearm.
      Yea, he learned real quick that ammo can be fired without a gun and the sound it makes is different. Also, yes, he was expelled from the school and family had to pay for the damages to the classroom, police, and fire response. (thankfully no one was hurt)

Why does a kid need that many guns in that many ammunition he doesn’t arrest him please he’s doing something wrong, also he’s with now responsible for every single injury this firefighter got because he knew there wasn’t a shooter and could see that the chief was not allowing firefighters to go help the other injured firefighters because there was possibly a shooter inside it is his fault that the other firefighters could not go and help their friends it is his fault that they are injured because he did not say hey just letting you know that house that’s on fire I’ve got some guns and some ammunition he wouldn’t of gotten in trouble for admitting he had them but he’s now in more trouble for not telling them about them
