I cry when here this song. My wife lost her battle with cancer age 30. There is not day goes by and it's has been 11 years since I don't think about her.
I lost mine, also to cancer,..when she turned 36, 1999,..we had two beautiful girls the oldest 9 the youngest 6 ...we lived in Denmark , alas I was from New Zealand ....I considered returning ,..but they where her parents first grand children ,..so I felt for then & decided to stay.... I am still a stranger ! in a strange land ..the locals prefer their own kind ...which is the case in most, if not all lands ?..
Now it has been 9 years and I have had some incredible events that can not, intellectually honest, keep the experience to myself. I have written my first book titled "Joe and Gloria an Immigrant's Story of Love" and published this year. It is at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. I have found an incredible sense of joy and hope, in the promise to see her again! Such love does not end! Believe me! She sees you everyday. And her love for you goes on for eternity!
No kidding. It's easy to forget that all these masterpieces were sung live on a dinky club stage, and on a night when she had a cold and her voice broke in a few songs. Impossible! I spent many years onstage and in the studio, and would have killed to work with someone of Eva's caliber. For me, she stands alone as the GOAT and it's not even close. We can analyze Eva's tonal quality and all the colors and textures she possessed, but the bottom-line assessment for any artist is always the same: they either move you or they do not. Eva moves me in ways that no other singer or musician ever has. That's why for me she is the GOAT.
Joseph, it's cliche to say, But You WERE soooo blessed, to have loved and be loved back - I grew up with no love 🙏 God's Blessings Are On You Every Day ❤....
Her tone, her phrasing, her crescendos, her oh so perfect notes held in mid-air that feel as though God speaks through her. This woman possessed a voice unequaled or unsurpassed anywhere or any when! Her talent ended way too soon but these recordings are a testimony to the proof that she lived among us and the world should be grateful of that. Sorry, her voice never fails to bring my waterfalls out.
Not only did she have a voice like an angel; her phrasing and musical fluidity were creative perfection. Eva proves that while most singers also have to also be songwriters to get noticed, every once in a while, along comes an interpreter whose stamp is so indelible that the song becomes theirs forever. Eva did it with Autumn Leaves, Over the Rainbow, Time After Time, and so many others.
You described it perfectly. Way to seldom phrasing is mentioned but it is what makes great singers great. Few examples: Tony Bennett, Daryl Hall, Luther Vandross, B. Streisand etc.
I was moved to tears but, in a good way. I lost my brother July 2017, my father March 2018 and my best friend of 34 years August 2018. There are many forms of love besides romantic. This music touched my soul. I have been too busy taking care of my family after all of the tragedies that I never really got to feel the loss so a sincere thank you for sharing. I really needed to feel these emotions.
Blessings and love to you - I so know how important it is to feel emotions, and how difficult it can be to find the time for that! Opportunities like this recording are a balm 🍁❤️
❤️ That tells me you are a good and warm hearted person. 🙂 She was incredibly. I'm in tears every time I listen to her beautiful voice. All my best from Germany
Fargoguy54 I’m 71; the soul does not age and keeps the heart young if we do the right living. I remember early versions of this many decades ago, it’s a haunting classic and will live on and be reinterpreted many times, don’t you think?
No it isn’t, actually. Eva’s original acoustic version of this is… years after she passed away the orchestra was added to the original, which was performed live on January 3rd 1996 at the Blues Ally Jazz Club. Please look it up here and be amazed.
I like the live acoustic version better. This version buries her guitar under tons of orchestration. Her guitar was an important part of all her songs, it was like an extension of her voice. She obviously put a lot of thought and effort into her playing. And to be able to sing like that while playing a melody on an instrument is pretty amazing.
@@robham7752 It doesn't just bury her guitar: I listened to the first several lines of the song, cutting back and forth between the acoustic and the orchestrated versions, and it's appalling how the orchestra undercuts Eva's vocal phrasing. Buried, hell -- swamped is more like it. Drain the swamp! If anyone out there hasn't heard the acoustic version, do yourself a favor: here it is. ua-cam.com/video/xXBNlApwh0c/v-deo.html

I listen to this song by at least 20 singers, and nobody express the truth of oneself like Eva does. Just amazing singer. I think she sold million in England, American people don't understand how good she is.
Such a pure and beautiful voice enhanced by the London Symphony Orchestra. Simply stunning. Listen to Tall trees in Georgia, a song she knew as a child. It will blow you away.
Go to the original video of Eva on her guitar with a piano backing and you will know why this version with the orchestra compares so poorly. The original has many millions of hits.
My husband left this earth in March of this year. This song is particularly meaningful because Autumn was our favorite time of year together. It will never be the same.
I just found Eva for the 1st time last night. I've been listening to her for 12 hours straight and am not done yet. What a tremendous talent she was. I'm so sorry that she is gone from us.....much too soon. Eva, where ever you are, I send you my love and appreciation for sharing yourself with us.
Susan K - You can be sure she's in Heaven leading the angel choir in her pure, brilliant, beautiful way. She fits right in - she was an angel on earth, as she is still in Heaven. ♥
I was living & working in Glasgow Scotland 1999 - 2001..I heard her whilst driving home with BLACK CAB, I asked the cabbie, who is this beautiful voice...he just said "aye" "EVA".. I've been listening over 20 yrs..I still "go there" she is lovely, bless her & bless the group that got her music out to us all after she passed so young.

You are walking through a deep valley of Your life, few things to say in this sad case - beside that time will heal some wounds. And, believe it or not, but at least take in consideration the words of Revelation 21 verse 4 and try to embrace them in Your heart. And be assured, there are a lot more people than You may believe who share Your feelings toward Your daughter and who feel with You.
I am embarrassed to admit I just found Eva's music. I am now obsessed and have listened to nothing else since. Thank you for The Best of Eva Cassidy playlist. I feel blessed to have found her magical music which will now enrich my life forever.

My husband has been in heaven a year and this song so describes him to the “T”. His beautiful smile, his sunburned hands that reflected how hard he worked all day. Soon autumn leaves will fall and a month from now our anniversary will roll around and I miss him all the time, everyday. Thank you for putting this song out. ❤️
I know it must hurt ,more deeply at some times than others, but WOW...how blessed you both were to have had each other like this Miriam. BLessings to you both...they're only a heart beat away and da thought away,as well. Welcome in to Autumn Beauty. Gawd do I Love love love this time of year. Respect. Keith
@Angel Bulldog His shoes are very difficult to fill. For a man who was raised without a father, he was the perfect father and being raised with only a mother I guess made him the most wonderful husband. I miss him every day.
the first singer that truly understood what this song could have been about - like so much of her music, it deals with the death and loss of loved ones - the emptiness that is left - lot some others, I kind of like that sparse her only version, but this is breathtaking as well - and of course, moves one to tears - I am always happy that no one is around when I listen so I cannot see me crying to myself and I do not have to answer their question, "What is wrong"
If that ever does happen when you're listening to Eva and a friend enters the room and asks "what's wrong" ... tell them "... it's what's right". Then make them sit down and cry with you.
I totally agee.Eva put a totally different and wonderful meaning to the song, which she did on all her recordings. I hate the Jazzy Jazz singers who sing this song in upbeat tempos . 10days ago, my doggy, named River went to heaven. We lived 14years together. I adopted him when first owner abandoned to my military camp when River was 2month old. That time, I found him and brought to my parents home and lived with my family. 5years ago, when my father passed way, River comforted my mom and stayed with mom. My mom didn't feel lonely. River got old and he was sick for 2days and went heaven. My mom digged ground and made River's grave by herself. Now Autumn leaves falled on River's grave. I miss River.
You shall meet again when you cross the Rainbow Bridge . Autumn leaves are falling on my beloved Matilda, Kim & Jake's last resting place . Missed every day , sometimes on our old haunts I see them fleetingly then they fade away ..............
I am falling and crying. I could feel Eva's heart. I think she knew that her time on this earth is limited and she just poured her heart and soul to this song.I can't help myself from tearing.THANKS Eva.
The words, the strings, and, most of all the voice, remind me of far more sensitive times. Her voice creates a performance of unimaginable beauty. God bless you Eva..
This is a beautiful concoction, lovingly presented, but I feel the original is as good as it gets. Simple, spare and very spacious, her unique interpretation of this song amounts to the greatest vocal performance of my experience. Some people are struck dumb on their first hearing! I listen 10 times a year or more and it never, never leaves me wanting more. I usually blow my nose after listening to her sing almost anything.
Agreed. You can not beat her solo with only the guitar. No modern effects, voice auto correct etc.. Just pure talent and a golden voice. I wish I could have heard her in person.
Fraser - as subtly scored as this orchestral version may be, I couldn’t agree with you more. The acoustic version that I originally heard from the Live at Blues Alley session remains - along with her People Get Ready- among the most emotionally resonant vocal performances of my lifetime. We were truly robbed by her passing. I don’t know why it took me so long to stumble across these videos, and while it’s not like I’ve not heard most of these performances before, it’s like the first time all over again. Chris BobiK
How anyone could dislike this is heartless. It's incredibly beautiful. And, combined with such a voice, the late Eva Cassidy, just magnifies this ballad.
I have been listening to Eva ´s music for over 20 years now and Autumn leaves is my absolute favorite. I love this arrangements with London Symphony. Thank you :-)
I have been listening to Eva Cassidy for years and her original version of this song was brilliant. With the accompliment of the London Symphony Orchestra it lifts this song to another level. I lost my beloved wife to cancer 2 years ago and it is this version of the song that reminds me of all the wonderful years we had together. Even more poignant as Eva is no longer with us either.
Ngọc Bảo Nguyễn I think Eva’s voice goes way beyond perfection she sang from deep in her heart and her soul and somewhere deeper that no other artist will ever replicate!! Miss Eva Cassidy Forever!!!!😢😢😢😢😢♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I am in tears every time I hear Eva sing this song. When I hear it, I begin speaking in unknown tongues. It is incredible. I love Eva anyway, because it is my dear great-grandma’s name and I loved her dearly.. and she lived to be 105. Eva’s voice you feel every note. She blew this song away!!! Absolutely took us up to the mountains and down to the seas - Oh my God, you blessed us with her!!!
Let’s not forget Nat King Cole was the King with this song.. in the modern day era, A 10yr Old prodigy named Angelina Jordan took it to a whole different level.
THE VOICE OF AN ANGEL.......GONE FAR TO SOON.....I THANK GOD I GOT THE CHANCE TO SEE HER PERFORM ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BEFORE SHE PASSED AWAY......HER SINGING AWAYS CAME RIGHT FROM HER SOUL AND HER HEART WAS NOT FAR BEHIND....LOVE YOU EVA, MISS YOU, .....BOB S.FOX, PALM SPRINGS CA. USA
she absolutely captures the bare soul in her acclaimation "but i miss you most my darling you'll hear when autumn leaves start to fall." as i listen, i want nothing but to be alone, to hear her voice, her interpretation of the music, and to feel my extreme lonliness.
I cry when here this song. My wife lost her battle with cancer age 30.

River got old and he was sick for 2days and went heaven. My mom digged ground and made River's grave by herself. Now Autumn leaves falled on River's grave. I miss River.
You will see him again
@@marshamacmartin4769 thank you. River's grave is the same like Music video background. My mom and brother, sister still come by River's grave.
@@kenpark7427 💔 So sorry for your loss. 🌈☁️🐕🍁🍂
You shall meet again when you cross the Rainbow Bridge . Autumn leaves are falling on my beloved Matilda, Kim & Jake's last resting place . Missed every day , sometimes on our old haunts I see them fleetingly then they fade away ..............
River did so much for your family. Dogs are family and just as hard to lose when they go.
Positively haunting. I lost my wife Katherine age 52 on Oct 29 2018 in mid-autumn. Nat King Cole, step aside, this version, and this voice just soar.
So sorry about your loss. I lost my little brother in September of 2018. 💔 May they R.I.P. 🌹
so sorry...hope you are picking up a few pieces...just listen and cry if you will...it's a strange healing.....bless...
This goes deep, deep into my soul and brings tears to my eyes. Love you Eva,forever ! ❤❤
it brings sadness to me
I am falling and crying. I could feel Eva's heart. I think she knew that her time on this earth is limited and she just poured her heart and soul to this song.I can't help myself from tearing.THANKS Eva.
May she rest in Paradise with our Heavenly Father.
Beautiful song, Beautiful woman. RIP Eva
❤ eva forever
Every time I hear her sing, my hand goes over my chest. It feels like my heart and lungs want to burst out.
I would suggest you take it a little at a time. You may be over indulging. Never drink and listen to Eva!
She was just spectacular. ❤
I cannot stop listening to her beautiful voice. Outstanding
Smiles, so so beautiful Pam, feels really great listening, how are you doing? 🌺 😊
Haunting, dreamy, ghostly, unbearable sadness. Clear, sparkling voice recently re-composed with the LSO so beautifully.
It's got it all
The words, the strings, and, most of all the voice, remind me of far more sensitive times.
She left us too soon!
Agreed. You can not beat her solo with only the guitar. No modern effects, voice auto correct etc.. Just pure talent and a golden voice. I wish I could have heard her in person.
Absolutely agree--I taught myself to play her guitar part and it's inspirational. She was a brilliant guitarist as well as an amazing vocalist.

@@sheldonupthegrove7822 I agree, the sugary orchestral arrangement does nothing, imho, to enhance that beautiful voice and solo guitar!
How anyone could dislike this is heartless. It's incredibly beautiful. And, combined with such a voice, the late Eva Cassidy, just magnifies this ballad.
Some people click "dislike" by mistake.
@@bowtoyoursensei554Smiles, hi Liz 🌺 😊
I love her unconditionally, since forever, until forever.
She was such a beautiful soul. Your music lives, Eva.
Magnificent & Moving!
Eva's version of Autumn Leaves is my favorite. Eva sung it with all her heart & soul! The video is beautiful & touching!
Such a beautiful voice that left us to soon....
Oh my God. Beyond beautiful. Eva Cassidy...voice of an angel. Rest in peace, dear lady. The world knows who you are. XO
Beautiful composition. Never tire of listening……..
A wonderful arrangement to complement Eva's emotional performance. A talent truly missed but what a legacy she has left for the world of music.
I have been listening to Eva ´s music for over 20 years now and Autumn leaves is my absolute favorite. I love this arrangements with London Symphony. Thank you :-)
Eva Cassidy died on November 2nd, 1996, as Autumn leaves were falling. She was only 33.
As .long as her songs are played she lives!❤
❤❤❤
I have been listening to Eva Cassidy for years and her original version of this song was brilliant. With the accompliment of the London Symphony Orchestra it lifts this song to another level. I lost my beloved wife to cancer 2 years ago and it is this version of the song that reminds me of all the wonderful years we had together. Even more poignant as Eva is no longer with us either.
I don't agree at all. Here original solo version is far beyond and should not be touched.
An angel sings😇
Perfect arrangement with the voice that never dies 💙 Come back Eva, come back!
😢❤ I wish.
Perfect
Ngọc Bảo Nguyễn I think Eva’s voice goes way beyond perfection she sang from deep in her heart and her soul and somewhere deeper that no other artist will ever replicate!! Miss Eva Cassidy Forever!!!!😢😢😢😢😢♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Just beautiful it moves me to tears. What an incredible talent and performance.
How tragic she lost her battle with cancer at such a young age.
Smiles, hi Lisa 🌺 😊
Eva Cassidy
Leaves us a treasure trove of songs...she left us to soon...God called her....🌹🎵🎶🎵
Frank sinatra made it to masterpiece, Eva cassidy made it to a gift from heaven above.
Well said!!!
Amen!
❤
Let’s not forget Nat King Cole was the King with this song.. in the modern day era, A 10yr Old prodigy named Angelina Jordan took it to a whole different level.
Sinatra was a product sold by the mob, a minimally talented narcissist .... he had no soul , hence, no feeling
It's simply beautiful. I have not words to describe my feelings.
This is outstanding! Beautiful beyond words. Thankyou!
Christine, Eva, the musicians and the recording technologists, creating and serving our era's precious delights for our progeny til the end of time.
