  • 00:00 - Intro
    00:22 - Next update will be tutorial-focused! The old ones ... will be gone.
    03:19 - This year we'll get fast finite terrain with higher res voxels and reason to travel.
    04:22 - Nuclear power is also firmly planned.
    05:34 - New spacesuits and deeper spacesuit simulation - started, postponed, but coming.
    07:30 - MAYBE coming: A terraforming expansion, inspired by the mod.
    10:26 - PROBABLY coming: "Missions" like e.g. running a hotel or hospital.

    Would like to see buildable spacecraft, as they showed in the early footage and even had some support for in very early releases.

      I haven't heard anything about such plans and don't think it's on the agenda, but what's supposedly coming is the ability to switch worlds in a playthrough (without losing what you have so far), so arguably you can build a "space ship" kinda station in the Asteroid Belt. (I know, not what you're looking for.)

    It's enought to show small clips or pictures with steps..... (for Tutorials)

      Hmh ... That's kind of an emergency-ish way to do it (if we compare with the elaborate but soon obsolete official tutorials). But at the same time, such pictures or mini videos (We've seen such loops with text in other games and in fact also in the official tutorials, when the next to-do step is described.) refer to the respective current version of the game, so they'd become outdated, it just wouldn't hurt as much as having to play a 30 minute tutorial only to get stuck after 15 when you clicked in the wrong order or when the game version behaved differently than the one the tutorials were made for. So ... those vids would be a simplistic (But helpful.) measure, not befitting a v1 of this game. At the same time, they would only make sense for a v1, because the game may be stable in regards to what the videos claim should happen. And at that point, the game might STILL evolve further, keeping the problem alive. ---- TL;DR: No.

    A more mission based tutorial similar to empyrion might be a good approach to tutorials.

      I actually suggested the game should track the overall resources available (e.g. Tank/Canister content or Iron Sheets versus yet-to-be-built stuff that needs Iron Sheets incl. still incomplete walls that would also need some), so that it could display some kind of summary statement, a "compass", showing whether the player was about to move off the road too much which would prevent them from getting where the task list suggested they should go.

    • @lonniefennel4024
      @lonniefennel4024 11 днів тому +1

      Exactly. Perhaps if some of the prefab stuff was incomplete and required us to find a little more resources to finish. Also, in leu of the tutorials, a hint on building airlocks and such to help the new players along. Another thing, some info concerning O2 tanks would be nice. I locked mine onto a base plate to make it secure and didn't know it disabled the tank slot preventing me from getting a refill. 4 deaths later, I finally figured it out. Lmao.

    I was just saying yesterday that I hope that they will consider a terraforming mod. There also isn't too much of a goal other than having a base so I'm glad to see they are thinking about that.

      I absolutely like the terraforming idea. We already have different planets, so that's in the game. Changing an existing one, at least temperature/gas wise, "into a different one" can't be a too high-tech obstacle, I mean, there's constantly some intentional "vanishing" going on in the code at the periphery of all human structures (part of why Loulan structures were ultimately too taxing, so that experiment will not be repeated), and if that would be meaningfully tracked, it could be used to change the world's parameters.

    big fan of having a finite world

      Ye, it's kind of (And here, actually.) the difference between "procedurally generated" (Not that this has to be necessarily insufficient.) and "hand crafted". It may also give a stronger feeling of meaning, a more personal relationship with the world instead of just whimsically "downloading" more same-y reality as needed.

    Would you consider a very indepth atmospherics tutorial ? How to store gases, and liquids, how to use all the atmospherics stations, start small and go as deep and technical as possible

      Appreciated. These stupid 12 minutes took over 3 hours to make, even though they were not run through an editor but "live-cut" by pausing.

    How about some new planets?? I wouldn't be mad if they added them as paid dlc, I have bought all the other dlc to help support the game......

    • @OwnerOfTheCosmos
      @OwnerOfTheCosmos  11 днів тому

      You can already add new worlds via the Workshop, I'm playing one of them in this recent video whose description has 3 such links: ua-cam.com/video/NF_-QOBk7t8/v-deo.html
      But you're right, and so I just asked this on the Discord. Maybe there's gonna be a meaningful response.

      I would also pay for DLC for all of the planets and moons of our solar system. Minus the gas plants. As there would be no land.

      @@Patrick1985McMahon Sadly currently not playable: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1855100174 But they worked before the Rocket Refactor update (in Dezember), so you **could** play them via old version, I think. I played Mercury, and it was a blast: Very cold during the night, very hot during the day and with the brightest sun glare bloom all over the place. So, storing cold at night or storing heat during day is both possible! Engineering fun! (My station started with a small greenhouse that was inside a surrounding hall, so the temperature differential would be smoothed out, hehe.)

      @OwnerOfTheCosmos once they have liquid in the world's they should add titan and give it lakes of hydrocarbons as they also plan on adding more gasses and liquids to the game. Europa needs sub-surface oceans

    Personally, I have mastered the basics, but after I build a basic airlock, I feel lost. Atmospherics seem very complicated and I get disheartened. Your tutorials have helped, oh Lord. But better tutorials from the devs could help.....

    Getting rid of random worlds is a mistake. A small, consistent world with everything in the same place will kill replay value.

    • @Bandit2033
      @Bandit2033 10 днів тому

      They didn't say anything about getting rid of the randomness, just the infiniteness.

    • @OwnerOfTheCosmos
      @OwnerOfTheCosmos  10 днів тому +1

      They mentioned hand-authoring, so maybe that indeed means that no more randomness will be in the world generation, but it doesn't HAVE TO mean that. Also maybe the starting location will be different each time, which in an e.g. 2x2 kilometer world should matter. Anyway, the key replayability is in the stations' growth. Particularly the pressure in the beginning, and the options of which gear to use first or in which way, influences the shape of the playthrough the most. And once the worlds are no longer a mildly randomized noise pattern like right now, so that there will be reason to travel, the choice of where to travel when will also matter. Anyway, the team has made a lot of good decisions, so I trust we won't be disappointed with the outcome.

      @@OwnerOfTheCosmos I guess that's possible, but it sounded more like they were talking about "set pieces" like how Minecraft has it's temples and fortresses.

      As some replied, it’s not getting rid of random terrain more making it possible to author terrains as well as stop them being infinite
