Stationeers - A terraformed Mars (Let's touch some grass!)
(Be warned, the implementation is crappy since it's incomplete and its use unofficial.) Everybody can do this, it's not even a mod. Just start the game and do what I do at the beginning. We have (fake) plants all over the planet surface. The pressure is about 100 kPa. The helmet is open, because most of that is oxygen. A lot of CO2 was added to heat up the climate, so we have warm days and nights. And then I was trying to be funny and also added a dash of volatiles, so half of this video is your speakers blowing out while the build area is on fire.
The console (F3) commands used in the video:

Only space missions this time. Frustratingly, I had to abort overall at least 4 (1 was last video, I think) because the solution was just unclear - but there's definitely some mission bugs in the game, so some of that may actually be unsolvable anyway (e.g. 1 solar panel slot was absolutely not accessible even though it was clearly meant to be). It's still a clear €15 full price recommendation (I got it for €9). But it has significant flaws: 1) Game apparently does not save after completing a mission but only after taking on a new one. Explicit saving is possible, but I haven't yet studied the effect of this. 2) The Rover missions so far are 99% crap. They could be nice if you listen to some stuff (audio books, UA-cam) though. Died about 40 times in a row, hadn't pushed for oxygen enough, had only seconds each life to build a filtration/canister setup (and the interface was getting in the way a lot there).     The battery chargers… you didn’t know the small battery charger charges slower? I wish they had a faster charger cuz it takes forever to charge the nuclear battery. Even in the 5 slot charger. I was kind of hoping you’d share a faster charger but I guess the win here is you could charge 5 of them at once and have backups available to use when needed, just gotta wait the 10 minutes or so to charge them up. The one thing I didn’t know is the small cable will charge at the same speed as heavy cable. Just don’t put a huge load on it.

    I dont know if it works or not but the terraform mod was cool when i checked it out and it felt good to craft the planet

      I heard about that one, too, but I don't want to "deep mod" Stationeers, the furthers I go is using the built-in XML modding (so far only different difficulties). The terraforming expansion I mentioned (For which the plants had been added.) was actually inspired by the success of that mod.

    I wonder why Valheim wasn't in the list of maps. It's about 121 square miles and procedurally generated. An authored world is likely to have fixed ore locations and "best places" to build a base, much like Satisfactory, which is another game not in the list of maps (roughly 11 square miles). I see this change resulting in less individuality and less replayability.

    Would like the above locker cabinet to be fixed. It locks to the center inside walls. So frustrating and would have been an easy fix. But it has been broken for a year.

      Yep. Many small things broken (e.g. music volume no longer totally silent after a play session) that they never touch. It's part of their focused "We only do this one thing now." approach, I'm pretty sure.

    Thanks for the very informative video, as always :) I started playing Stationeers only recently and am happy if changes are made and look forward to new features. I just learned that the studio making Stationeers is also working on a KSP-like game called KSA and I'm pretty hyped about it. Thinking about them making progress on that lessens my impatience with waiting on Stationeers features

      Yep, RocketWerkz are pretty awesome. Not just the frequent updates and the super stable game (Very complex simulation, yet no crashes etc. even in Early Access ... on the Beta channel!), but they're very ambitious. Some of the original Kerbal Space Program (KSP) developers (Blackrack) are part of the Kitten Space Agency (KSA) project, they have a guy from SpaceX (!) on the team, a math PhD guy, an aeronautics software engineer, etc. - RocketWerkz future, if any, looks to be a unique shining beacon in the vast landscape of game development. Wishing them the best can't but be egoistic, because they keep delivering and are incredibly promising.

I did not know the detail with getting a former SpaceX employee on board for the development, though.       In case you don't know, there's an unofficial way: Press F3 (or whatever your console key is, see Settings), enter "orbit", and look at those values. One of them is timescale, which is 0.3 e.g. on the Moon. If you now enter "orbit timescale 0.03", you will have one tenth of the orbital simulation speed, so that's a 200 minute day/night cycle. You can set it to anything that strikes your fancy. But this value DOES NOT SAVE, so you have to quickly press ESC after loading your savegame and make those settings again. - Supposedly, an invisible day/night duration slider exists in the world selection menu. I suppose the devs haven't yet added such a feature, because they may not yet have made up their mind regarding other gameplay effects: 1) A very slow day/night cycle changes your survival because you can meaningfully readjust a Solar Panel again and again with enough pause in between to get things done. 2) The plants STAY on their 20 minute cycle, so if you use the console trick, you have to box your plants in for that playthrough and give them artificial light.

It certainly adds some more challenges with plants, but that just opens them up for more "engineering" solutions. I guess its a give-and-take with the solar panels and plants, neither are especially hard to automate in either case. Thanks for the quick and in-depth reply. Looking forward for more.

    If you are not aware this whole game is basically a 3d version of Space station 13 series. This includes the the manual hand swapping and inventory management. Space station 13 was the original among us type game and more and I hope stationeers can become that good and not just a survival game but one with further objectives and game styles, like alien encounters etc.

      First of all, it's the standard "Deus Ex: Revision" from Steam, though I don't remember all its graphics options (e.g. was there a choice of texture pack somewhere? guess not). But second of all, I didn't see the game myself like it's recorded: I added two bloom layers via the free OBS recording software on the fly. The first is a wide bloom - first I adjust the colors (contrast/gamma), then I blur a lot, then another color correction pass, and this is then "Add"ed to the game capture. Then a second bloom layer in the same way with different settings (e.g. less blurring). The game capture itself is also color corrected: Less saturation since humans can't see color well in the dark. EDIT: OBS is a real great tool. Sometimes I let a fullscreen UA-cam video run, capture that with OBS (without recording), and show it on an always-on-top preview window that OBS has, so that I can play a game while "watching" a video.

      The likelihood is extremely high. I love gaming, I love DX1, I like to experiment, and I am sorely missing a bunch of things in the games I've seen so far. Looking forward to working on this, but it'll be a few years before this starts.

    Ersteinmal frohes neues! Da du am anfang des Videos von deiner Spielmotivation geredet hast.. Es ist auch sehr spannedn wenn man sich übergeordnete ziele setzt wie zum beispiel "Ich baue mir eine Base auf dem Mond die komplett Autark ist mit raketenhangar. Quasi selfsustained..alles automatisiert. keine manuelle beschaffung von rohstoffen und gasen mehr notwendig" Oder Regeln wie: "Keine Kabel oder Rohre innerhalb Cubes". Das tolle daran ist die kreativität in bezug auf design ergibt sich durch die probleme die man auf dem weg zum ziel löst. Oder kleinere projekte "Die perfekte filter und sortieranlage für alle Gase und flüssigkeiten" oder "Ein vollautomatisches setup vom Miner bis zum Fabricator bei dem man nur noch aussuchen muss was man bauen will weil das material automatisch in ausreichender menge in allen werkbänken vorhanden sein wird". Solche Projekte haben zumindest mir persönlich sehr viel spass gemacht. Die letzten beiden projekte könnte man sogar miteinander verbinden. mit dem LaRre lassen sich ja sogar die filter der anlagen per arm automatisch auswechseln. :P Nachdem ich mir das Video angesehen habe gibt es für dich noch ganz viel was du lernen kannst in dem spiel. Jeder fängt mal an :) Und das ist das tolle an dem Spiel! PS.: Das ist keine Sonne sondern ein Schwarzes Loch xD

      I have no experience with streaming, but I would assume it does NOT work with streaming. Maybe it does, though. Does OBS have a disk cache for streaming? If you use this program with that folder location configured, then it may just work.

      I had no plans to do so, like I sadly have a bunch of series that just stop at some point, because I drift from interest to interest. "No plans" doesn't mean "I had planned not to", it was just no longer on my radar. Even though it's a pretty good one, station-wise. THEREFORE I just recorded another 5h episode (E12) of this thanks to your comment! Uploading now. (I hope I continue this further.)

      Thanks, love to hear it. I guess opinions differ on that front, but I have had comments like yours a few times - but not one telling me to skip the mining parts - so either the majority prefers uncut or, which I rather believe, those impatient skip manually. Since you can't "unskip", it makes sense to not cut out the slower action.

    GODSEND! i am very new to the game and with the tutorials i manage to progress to furnace and batteries but dont know yet how will i get steady flow of food and proper setting ice crusher. getting a lock out of what to do next. this channel not only teach me what to do. it hype me up to be creative and play.       Uhm ... no. The "lock" feature is a logic value. So the only way to (un)lock a thing is 1) logic chip, 2) IC10 programming, 3) assigning devices to a console, e.g. if a door or vent is assigned to an airlock console, it will be locked, and the doors can't be operated with the crowbar, even if there's no power.

    I love your shows. though I now have almost 3k hours playtime it doesn't get old watching your introduction videos. As you mentioned the game is constantly updating so the information is always fresh. I also enjoy the 4 - 8 hour lets build playthroughs. Though I'm not much into multiplayer games in general either, I watch while I play and it is a little like we're playing together. Because you tend to speak of things in which I am interested, listening to you is quite thought provoking. I have one request. I know it's time consuming, and I know you do this stuff at work and this is your time away, but can you do an advanced programming series? While most of the coding is pretty intuitive, I need some help with advanced concepts in the game's MIPS. I'm not looking for code suggestions, but depictions of how the LEGO pieces fit together. There are several ways to do things like passing information between chips/networks, using conditionals and/or arrays to select/switch devices or compare ranges, PID variations, sometime a device will report to the DB something like "state (int)", what is this?, etc. Yes Mick and other have touched on some these in the past but many of these are pretty dated, and the code repository has been quite expanded. On a side note (b-flat), is there a way to slow/adjust the player/camera movement speed? @Devs, can you add a toggle in the console for this? like the day speed, it moves too fast and can create space-sickness (can't be sea-sick in space). Thank all of you for all the hours of intelligent and non violent entertainment. More please. --Ryuji

      EDIT: THANKS for tuning in even after such a long time. I get this idea of "as if playing with others". Heh, I'd be confused, though, I know I always am when playing and listening to a Stationeers video in the background, which occasionally happens: Where did that sound come from? Is that MY suit? etc. I have talked to Rocket himself about the camera and that there should be an option to smooth it like in Minecraft (demonstrated at this point in a video ua-cam.com/video/i7h7righKCc/v-deo.html ), and he was agreeable and said that there should even be something like that in the code already, but that was almost a year ago, and I have never heard of that again. It's sad, **clearly wrong prioritization of RocketWerkz' resource** since UA-camrs effectively advertise the game, and the smoother these rides, the more agreeable the audience that this game would be one they'd like to have. Particularly wrong resource allocation since implementing such a thing is SUPER EASY to make happen. So, all I have is sadface. (Of course I could lower my mouse speed, but then I'd have to move the physical mouse more - it wouldn't make a tangible difference on screen.) > can you do an advanced programming series? I'm sorry, I have almost no knowledge and zero experience with this, though I do have the occasional need, so I might eventually toy with that, but I don't have any real knowledge to convey right now. Only this: The IC10 have a persistent stack, and supposedly the chips can access each others' stacks. Also, there is some kind of "channel" concept in regards to the cable networks. I don't have the first knowledge about that, it's just something I know exists in some form. ---- So, I can't help you with that yet, even if I'd go and make a video about that next.

      @@OwnerOfTheCosmos My solution to always knowing which suit I should be listening to is I have my suit speak in Chinese. If he had Japanese I'd use that instead since I actually speak it, but then I know I can ignore suit warnings in English. What happens since I don't speak Chinese? I died. Until I learned to respond when she speaks. Our brains are pretty awesome, as you well know. Simply repeatedly hearing the same sounds before the same event does teach one the correct way to respond and not die. I can't correctly translate or repeat her instructions, but surely it doesn't take long to understand when a woman is chirping in your ear, "I'm cold! Feed me! I'm thirsty! Where's the bathroom? It stinks! I can't breathe!" LOL. Extra work sure but I can't stand the sound of the actress that did the new English female voice. It's too bad the original actress wasn't available when they updated it.

    An interesting challenge but i think it is viable. You gave up because atmo sensor doesn't show the liquid CO2 but i think the reason is that the co2 is liquid and not a part of the atmosphere. I dont think they anticipated if someone wants to play subnautica in stationeers. You can get the liquid into pipes with passive liquid drains evaporate and use gas Co2 from there. Also i guess the game is programmed to equalize atmospheres in doors with the atmosphere that the last piece is put in. so the room pretty much didnt see the outside atmosphere and equalised to no atmosphere. That is why u lost the liq Co2 in the room. I would like to see myself if that is the case but i cant try now and I want to see if this challenge is viable. For conductivity I dont think CO2 is conductive because in a save i have in mars i put a liquid drain and it pretty much drains liq Co2 from pipe into some chips but it didnt cause any problems yet. If it is conductive it will be annoying but i also think you can insulate them by frames and since the rooms are pressurised by themselves when u put walls you dont need to insulate interior cables.

      All of that may be true, but I rather think the "world" room liquid I had here are not the same as actual in-world liquids. And the tablet does show the amount of liquids in the box you're in - but in this particular case, it showed there were no liquids. I still think it's just an incomplete experimental thing that we'll eventually enjoy when the (probably expensive) terraforming expansion comes out.

      Well, this is a beginner introduction, so I guess it's not quite that. - The only thing relevant in my opinion: 1) Box in the oxygen tank with 3 flares, after having dunked your own canister into the tank one last time. 2) Carry the crates onto the foundation before walling it up. 3) Make the airlock box, but don't configure it yet. Use it, again with 3 flares and some patience so do this early enough each time, if you need to drink/eat. ---- I recently tried Brutal on Europa with Stationeer difficulty and could not manage, ran out of electricity. What difficulty have you chosen?
