Fanned on the 394 Nailed the 754 (2:46 - 3:40) except I did 75(5+5) + 4 OK, who had THAT one in under :10? 😎 When 601 came up (4:56) that became duck soup (easy) -- 25*4*6 + 1 I had THAT one in under :05 😎 For 120 (5:38) I got Colin's way first, then got Michael's way
In the first numbers round, I saw Rachel's solution within the 30 seconds (plus you can do (9 - 4) x 8 + 1 to also get 41), and also had this one: 4 + 1 = 5 9 x 8 x 5 = 360 360 + 25 + 9 = 394 As well as this one just for fun: 9 x 8 = 72 72 - 9 = 63 63 x 25 = 1575 1575 + 1 = 1576 1576 / 4 = 394 In the second round, the contestants' solution was obvious (as was making the 10 with 5 + 5), but just for the sake of doing something different I came up with a couple of solutions based on multiplying by 9: 75 + 5 + 4 = 84 84 x 9 = 756 756 - 2 = 754 75 + 4 + 2 = 81 81 x 9 = 729 5 x 5 = 25 729 + 25 = 754 I wanted to do something with the factors, since the target is 29 x 13 x 2 = 754, but I couldn't figure out how to make it work. In the third numbers round, it was again easy to spot the contestants' solution, so I decided to commit to using all the numbers to make it more of a challenge: 25 - 6 - 4 = 15 15 x 8 = 120 120 x 5 = 600 600 + 1 = 601 And since the fourth numbers round was a small target, I tried to solve it with just the small numbers: 8 + 7 = 15 6 + 2 = 8 15 x 8 = 120 8 x 6 x 5 = 240 240 / 2 = 120 7 x 6 = 42 42 - 2 = 40 8 - 5 = 3 40 x 3 = 120 8 + 7 + 5 = 20 20 x 6 = 120 All of these were disappointingly easy today. Got the conundrum at about 16 seconds, I'd say.

I had THAT one in under :05 😎

Apart from the first one all done before the clock started
394
8x9=72 x(4+1)5=360 +25 +9.
Another way for 120:
8 x 6 = 48
48 / 2 = 24
24 x 5 = 120 #
601:
25 * 6 * 4 =600
600 + 1 =601
4 - 1 =3
25 * 8 * 3 =600
600 + 6 - 5 =601
25 * 6 =150
150 + 1 =151
151 * 4 =604
604 + 5 - 8 =601
120:
75 * 8 / 5 =120
75 * 2 =150
6 * 5 =30
150 - 30 =120
8 * 6 * 5 / 2 =120
Easy 120: (8+2)(5+7)
In the first numbers round, I saw Rachel's solution within the 30 seconds (plus you can do (9 - 4) x 8 + 1 to also get 41), and also had this one:
4 + 1 = 5
9 x 8 x 5 = 360
360 + 25 + 9 = 394
As well as this one just for fun:
9 x 8 = 72
72 - 9 = 63
63 x 25 = 1575
1575 + 1 = 1576
1576 / 4 = 394
In the second round, the contestants' solution was obvious (as was making the 10 with 5 + 5), but just for the sake of doing something different I came up with a couple of solutions based on multiplying by 9:
75 + 5 + 4 = 84
84 x 9 = 756
756 - 2 = 754
75 + 4 + 2 = 81
81 x 9 = 729
5 x 5 = 25
729 + 25 = 754
I wanted to do something with the factors, since the target is 29 x 13 x 2 = 754, but I couldn't figure out how to make it work.
In the third numbers round, it was again easy to spot the contestants' solution, so I decided to commit to using all the numbers to make it more of a challenge:
25 - 6 - 4 = 15
15 x 8 = 120
120 x 5 = 600
600 + 1 = 601
And since the fourth numbers round was a small target, I tried to solve it with just the small numbers:
8 + 7 = 15
6 + 2 = 8
15 x 8 = 120
8 x 6 x 5 = 240
240 / 2 = 120
7 x 6 = 42
42 - 2 = 40
8 - 5 = 3
40 x 3 = 120
8 + 7 + 5 = 20
20 x 6 = 120
All of these were disappointingly easy today.
Got the conundrum at about 16 seconds, I'd say.
Is he back?

754:
75 * 5 * 2 =750
750 + 4 =754
5 + 5 =10
75 * 10 =750
750 + 4 =754
75 + 5 + 4 =84
84 * 9 =756
756 - 2 =754

I hate when the second contestant thinks they’ve solved it in a different way but it’s exactly the same. You can tell how irritated Rachel was!
2(75-8-7)=120
120=75/5×8=2×(75-8-7)=2×6×(75+5)/8=75+5×(7+2)=75+7×8-6-5
My 120 was (75-8-7)*2 and then 6*5*8/2
394=(4+1)×8×9+25+9
394 = 9 x 8 x (4 + 1) + 25 + 9
Ahead of rachel thus series 10 to 8....
4+1 = 5X8 = 40X9 = 360+25 = 385+9 = 394
8X4 = 32+9 = 41X9 = 369+25 = 394

6X5 = 30-1 = 29 25-4 = 21X29 = 609-8 = 601
4-1 = 3X8 = 24X25 = 600+6 = 606-5 = 601
