I think Stephen A’s take about Kyrie Irving as it relates to basketball is fair. Whether you agree with why Kyrie isn’t playing or not, it puts other guys like KD and James Harden in a tough position because they want to win and championship and Kyrie is a huge piece to the puzzle and he persuaded them to join him in Brooklyn. However, It’s not always about what you say it’s how u say it and His message comes across as being a hater and trying to tear black brothers down rather than having an objective opinion, I think that’s where there seems to be a disconnect. It’s a tough subject as is cause this whole Vaccine thing has turned into something political rather than just being about individual health.

Exactly! I love Kyrie as a basketball player and give him every bit of respect for what he does in the community and for his generosity and activism. The only thing with Kyrie that irks me a little (not enough to lose any kind of sleep over) is that he allows his activism to get in the way of him playing/doing his job quite a bit. I doubt virtually anyone in the comments could pick and choose when they want to work because they want to focus on activism but they’d still get paid as if they were there. Most people have to balance the two. Plus I don’t like when Kyrie says he’s going to take a stand and be a leader for a cause but doesn’t say anything or says very little about it. If you’re gonna be a voice for a cause be an ACTIVE voice. Don’t denounce the media but USE the media to get your points across. Kyrie has his heart in the right place but needs to do more action.

Ive said this for a few years now, Kyrie is the type of guy that should have in an individual type sport because he is too introverted. He has some similarities to Kawhi Leonard and Derrick Rose. Only difference is that Kyrie Irving is trying too hard to be a leader for everyone when he doesn't have to do that.

Wrong. Kyrie is dealing with a mandate from government, not something that is bound by contract. Kyrie can't play ball because of his decision, and he is willing to live with it. Because he is a superstar he will have to live with everyone's opinion about his decision. He is also letting his teammates down and potentially ruining a championship run. He is free to do this, but that comes with taking the heat that comes with the decision. Big boy pants time. There's no privacy when you are a star, and you can't privately stand for the ppl which is one of his motives he gave for doing this.

But is it really philanthropy though? He gives little of what he earns, makes sure that it gets media attention, and then does anything but his best to do his job. He's out there taking teams and his fans hostage one season at a time getting paid millions of dollars and giving out some of them sometimes. I mean, a lot of us can do that given the chance. I just don't see how that's heroic. It just feels like he's simply exploiting the relevance of these issues and making it the center of his excuse. One drama at a time. And if nothing is available - BOOM - PERSONAL REASONS. Some people out there grind day in and day out just to survive. In fact, don't look too far, some NBA players have very little of the chances that he's taking for granted. If you're against vaccine, would you really want this guy to represent you? For all we know he could've already been vaccinated but he just needs the excuse to not go to work and be "philanthropic" with some coins in his pocket. A lot of other players do greater feats of philanthropy with much less than what Kyrie has. And they still show up and play. At least for myself, I won't let this guy fool me.

They have all the means and access to do so. I’m sure the majority of the NBA players have gotten the research before they took it. Their bodies are their profession.
