Hey gang! When I said "hundreds of years ago" regarding blues music - I should have said "about two hundred years ago." What we think of as blues music ("Delta Blues") appeared somewhere in the mid-1800s. Just a heads up! : )
Never too late to start, my friend. I'm going on 70 next year. I started playing at 16 but life got in the way. It's a wonderful and worthwhile exercise and journey. God gave us the gift of music and we need to employ it. Have fun!
Gary was being interviewed by Neville Marten from Guitarist magazine (UK). Neville was the main Guitar repairman for both Fender & Gibson's UK division in the 1970s and 80s. Neville is also an incredible Blues Guitarist in his own right.
Great lesson thank you - not really seen it explained quite like this before - so much more musical than noodling up and down the minor pentatonic! More bluesy stuff like this please!
David , it is a welcome treat to view your lessons after a long hot day at work out here in Sunny Southern California. Thanks a bunch from Me here in San Diego . Gonna be practicing this one 😎👍. Appreciate all you share with us ……
David, as always, thanks for this. I'm always inspired by your tutorials. The one thing that for me would really enhance this lesson is a strong focus on timing. I wouldn't just know how to create the fills between the chords without using a metronome and figuring out how many beats each one should be, or alternately how to fit each fill into the beats between each chord. Some guys have naturally great timing, I suppose, and some of us don't. Anyway, just a thought. Thanks again.
Great lesson! The blues is always good material... I embarrassed to admit that, despite playing for over 30 years and knowing a ton of theory, I'm not strong on a 12-bar blues. So I'm grateful, as ever....
My favorite soloing usually involves squeezing a fill between some chords and doing the big dynamic build. A lot of my lead choices are more based on where I feel like the energy and volume should be. I’d go far as to say I care more about the dynamics than my choices in notes
You’ve got a great tone, I’ve been searching for the same kind of thick throaty sound for awhile now. For some reason it sounds too thin no matter what I try. Could you give a tip on how to get the sound you’re getting here. Thanks

Not quite 200 years ago. Although it wasn't really set down until about the 1920s.
Great lesson as always! You make blues sound easy. And your lessons are so approachable.
you're the hardest working man on yt brewha and we love ya for it 🎉
For a struggling senior beginner you have somehow put a lifetime of lessons into an 18 minute video. Thank you.

Esse kra é bom demais!!!

Can you please do a “chords of” lesson on Kings X? Ty Tabors a brilliant guitarist, does some interesting things in their songs!!🙏🏽🎸🎵😎
I bet C Mixolydian (from the F Major/D Minor Scale) would be great with this, too. C,D,E,F,G,A,Bb,C
Absolutely!
C Mixolydian would fit right at home here.
: )
I guess I'd still have to try to watch out for the Eb in the F7 chord though.

Is that tone through the vamp ? If it is thats a killer blues tone . I never got my vamp to sound like that
