About the whole speaker in the casket thing. I have written a really sentimental and heartwarming speech and recorded it, but at the very end it goes:

Also don't mess with pre-established characters, because they know it's easier to piggyback on the success well known characters than creating an original character from the ground up and you know actually earning it's popularity as it's own thing.
One comic character who’s “gay” and isn’t because of some dumb agenda is Midnighter. It helps him with how he interacts with characters like the Superman-like stand in who’s also his husband. And he’s also not a stereotype so it’s more flesh out than most other version.

A kid with down syndrome can't lead the same life that other kids can. A kid with cerebral palsy can't lead the same life that other kids can. A kid with tourette's can't lead the same life other kids can. A kid with schizophrenia can't lead the same life other kids can. A gay kid can. Celibacy and abstinence are matters of will. If you can't be fulfilled on your own, you won't be fulfilled in a relationship. It's a character tack-on, not a character identity.

When you aren't focusing on being super diverse you get some awesome chacters. Growing up i watched Young Justice and Teen titiains. My favorite chacters from those shows are Cyborg and Aqua lad both black chacters that I adored. Make good chacters and good stories and you can tear down barriers. But I'm afraid people don't want to tear down barriers but put up more now
