You missed the important aspect of this Hindu-CSDL survey report. The question asked is "Is India belongs to only Hindus or every religions and believes in plurality?" 79% said yes to plurality. In young people it is 81% yes. This is silver lining of this survey.
Secularism is in-built in Hinduism. So, even if Bharat is Hindu Rastra, all religions will co-exist peacefully. Unlike other religions which do not accept or accommodate other gods...hope you get the point...this is the key difference

I really have to tell about the credibility of this survey and the people who are involved in this survey because things are not good for BJP in the north and west. Looks like INDIA is not going to win but BJP might lose very badly in the north and west.

Hi Sujit Nair, I regularly follow your editorial. It is excellent and neutral. And I appreciate how difficult it is to be unbiased in Indian media right now! I just disagree with you on your key point in this video but agree on overall opinions. You quoted that Modi's popularity is 47% and Rahuls popularity is 27% hence that is the key. I DISAGREE. Because in India where idolizaiton of one lead is very important, it is not surprising after 10 years of prime ministership Modi's popularity is 47%. But Rahul has not held any ministerial post and not even Congress president, still he is above Aravind Kejariwal and Mamata Banerji or anyone else in the opposition. So the 27% is HUGE in my opinion. If you look at Modi's popularity in 2014 to be a prime minister I am sure it would have been much smaller than 27%. Hence on that front, Rahul is still in the game. His time will come. I am also saying this I believe it is good for democracy that a change happens. Other issue is the percentage of people given government another chance is lower than in 2004. So there is a chance of change in government. The propoganda of 400 par is all FALSE

I reside in a 3rd tier city of southIndia on the lap of Westernghat(first muncipality of our state ruled by BJP) a survey was made on Inflation by agencies on behalf of Union Govt. Later i came to know from some friends from BJP that the survey was finished ,some 5 to 10 members pro BJPians were the participants. These type of surveys are being made and are spread throughout the country. All Andhbhakths are happy with these results

Hello Sujit Sir, I have a doubt (a general one which i have no idea about!)... These surveys and it's results, the crowd in which the survey is conducted doesn't matter?, can you please help me (may be many of us ) to understand how these surveys might 've been conducted ? (to be straight, if majority of the people who participated in a survey belongs to or follower of a certain group then the outcome of the survey will definitely reflect the view of group of that particular group)
CSDS is a reputed organization. As far as I know, their sampling method does take into account every fraction of the society

@@sudarsanbabu2900 I take your point of opinion of 100 constituencies doesn’t reflect that of whole country which is why this research does not guarantee anything. But I d say that is how random sampling works. You start with a random sample and extrapolate to the entire population and hope that your random sampling is as good as your population.

The increase from 35 % to 42% is suspect but understandable as due to prevailing unrest the poll may have been very limited. If BJP gets less than two thirds majority then it should be counted as a loss for BJP for obvious reasons.

India shining campaign did not get Atalji to win and form the Government even though under Atalji, Indian economy did perform well. I believe that Modi grasped this factor, that it not all about development and India shining. Emotional factors also mattered along with development.

Without knowing the sample size and which cross-section of the society participated in the survey, it is dangerous to come to conclusions. No opinion need not mean what you say. No opinion can also mean 'we don't know anything the issue you are asking about'. Most of the maid servants and drivers working in my colony would say no opinion. They read some local newspapers which do not talk about defections into BJP. Most of the women do not read news papers too.

India has the misfortune of getting awful leadership at critical point in history, which has cost dearly.
1970s, while early years we needed protectionist policies and public investments to set up an industrial base, educational institutions etc, 70s should have seen an opening up to foreign investment and competition. Post war rebuilding of Western Europe and Japan had set the stage for a world awash in capital that India could have easily attracted, but we got completely sidetracked by Indira’s lack of vision.
Mid 2010s onwards, thanks to internet revolution, and India’s proven tech prowess, India’s image had been transformed the world over at the turn of century. Visionary leadership should have ensured 10-15% growth and rapid transformation of the kind seen in South Korea and China earlier. Instead we got idiots who run the country using hatred as primary policy, and a media that convinces populace that 5-6% growth is good.
