My 2 year old son is obsessed with this video. He wants to be a leaf blower when he grows up. Thank you for this awesome source of information and entertainment for my toddler!
My son and I watch this video almost every night. He is 2 years old and LOVES lawn equipment. Backpack blowers are his favorite. He is learning to say the different brands and styles. He even dances when the intro music comes on. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I am sure it is helpful to people looking to purchase, but it has also helped my son learn and recognize numbers, letters, and cool equipment!
+Corrie Wright That is so awesome! I'm glad to bring entertainment along with my attempt to be helpful. I would be happy to do a quick shout out to your son at the end of one of my videos, if you reply back with his name. I'm working on a hedge trimmer comparison video that I hope to upload soon. Thanks!
I just want to say my 2 1/2 year old grandson loves this video. He is a bit obsessed with any tool related to yard work and is always asking me to watch leaf blower and string trimmer videos. But this one is his favorite (for whatever reason!). So thanks - you've given one 2 1/2 year old a lot of joy!
I've used Echo, Stihl, and Redmax blowers. My best blowers are my Redmax EBZ6500 and EBZ7500. Very fuel efficient, powerful, reliable, and comfortable. But everyone has their preferences. Good video, but its difficult to compare on tests like this these. The most accurate test on here was the decibel test. The other tests looked like you moved a little faster or slower in some parts with each blower. Could always rig up some tests where the blowers are stationary. But again, good video. I've worked with different landscape companies here in Florida. All using different brand equipment and mowers. I have since started my business up about 4 years ago and I only use Redmax equipment and Grasshopper mowers now. Except for chainsaws. Stihl is number one in my opinion for chainsaws. Redmax needs some work with theirs. Keep up the good videos!
Thanks! I thinking of a few more ideas for another video like this. I have an EchoPB770T that I will add to the mix. The new Stihl BR700 looks interesting too.
Pretty good comparison video Mark. Where I'm from here in southeastern Illinois we have a few lawn maintenance contractors who runs either the BR 550 or BR 600 Magnum and the others would run a Echo PB 500T or PB 770T. I have a Stihl BR 400 myself and it's a good backpack blower for the size it is (56.5 cc) and for some of the work I would do like heavy fall leaf cleanups or clearing large driveways and sidewalks.
John Foshee/ Foshee Lawn Care Service Thanks for commenting John. I haven't heard anyone talk about the BR 400 yet, so I'm glad to hear that it's your go-to backpack blower.
What a great review. Well demonstrated and easy to see the final winner. Yup. You earned my thumbs up and a new subscriber. I'm heading out tomorrow to buy the BR600, Thanks!
I bought a BR600 and have been very happy with it. Great comparison with redmax. I had a salesman telling me my stihl couldn't touch the redmax. I don't believe it, I live my BR600. Great review.
I have the Stihl and a Homelite, being a smaller woman I find the Stihl to be much more comfortable over the long haul and a lot easier to start with one pull and to put on and take off.
I've never tried the Homelite myzlyn56, and I have to agree that the comfort level is a very important feature. I wish all my outdoor tools started on one pull like the Stilh backpack blowers!!!! Thanks for the comment!
I own a br600 and a redmax 7001. I agree with your findings, the stihl is definitely stronger, however I prefer the redmax for comfort, the Stihl bottom lands in the small of my back and hurts to use it more than a ifew minutes,my son who is 6'3" likes the way the stihl fits him better,I like the storage hook much better on the redmax...the stihl is much better on fuel although starting its high compression engine is sometimes a chore,it starts easily, once you have straddled it good enough to pull it over without it taking off.stihl is a torque monster! Like them both but glad I have a choice .
On the first test you seemed to move with a little more pep when you had the 600 just saying....I have a redmax 7500 and it is the most efficient and comfortable of all the blowers I have used. Good video!
I probably moved with a little more pep since I figured out a pattern for clearing the leaves and the blower definitely pushed the leaves faster, causing me to hustle more. Thanks for the comment.
I know this is a old post, but best way to compare leaf blowers is testing with volumes of water, large puddles etc, and or blowing snow off a drive way or sidewalk
Maybe the Redmax looked a bit quieter on the decibel meter but it sure doesn't sound that way and the high pitch whine it has doesn't help either ;D I think the EBZ8500 might be a bit more powerful but it is super high-pitch which a lot of people don't like (I don't mind it personally but I still prefer the growl of the BR600 or BR700) it all depends on whether you want more speed or more power because often you will have one and not the other. The Redmax has more speed normally but the Stihl has more CFM to actually move stuff. So if you need to shift big piles of leaves I would go a Stihl but if you just want grass clipping blown away fast the Redmax would do best.
I would liked to have seen the Echo PB770 included in your comparison and your thoughts. I know what they can do, I've owned 6 over the last 5 years but the last 2 we bought are falling apart and don't do well with California's ethanol fuel. I'm going to check out the BR-600 soon but wish they had the left hand hip throttle.
I'd also recommend trying the echo pb 770. It puts out more cfm. It also is spring loaded so it doesn't vibrate your back. And to top it off, it has a vent on the backrest that actually blows cool air up through your back as you use it
The Stihl is much better than the Redmax as far as vibration goes. I would like to try the Echo with the backrest vent, especially on those 90 degree days...
Great video and great testing, I appreciate you spending your time designing and implementing these test to compare the products. Verry good stuff man. +liked I wish you had a ebz8500 redmax to compare to the others (thats what I have). When I bought it I was on the edge about buying the electric start stihl or the best redmax. The stihl you tested was that the electric start one?(the 10 second leaf test blower)
+Jonathan McGregor Thanks, I appreciate your comments. The Stihl's are both pull start. As a matter of fact, they both start on the first or second pull, so I'm not too concerned with needing an electric start. I haven't tried the EBZ8500 yet, but will be making another video in April, where I'll put an ECHO 770T to the test. Stay tuned...
Could someone explain the purpose of these things? They don't actually get rid of the leaves. I can't stand the noise they produce, so I might be a bit biased. I personally just rake my leaves into piles and mow them into little decomposable fragments. Takes about 45 minutes to do and there's no leaves in spring. Wouldn't it make more sense to have a leaf sucker as opposed to a leaf blower?
Arbys Uunt Meet My backpack blower gets used mostly for clearing the driveway of grass clippings and dirt. It's nice to have a clean area for walking on and playing basketball. In the fall, the blower makes short work of piling the leaves up to haul away.
+Sherman Hatch I've owned the Stihl BR550 the longest. It looks beat up, but it sure runs great. I'm amazed how it usually starts on the first or second pull, every time.
If I'm gonna be running one all out for an entire day with the only break being lunch what would be the best. I prefer 2 stroke because it's easier with less maintenance but I'm not apposed to a 4t
John Petrella I would really like to do a test video of a Takana and a Redmax. I don't own any at this time, but am hoping to find some to borrow in order to put a test together. Thanks.
Pretty much an unfair comparo... Using Stihls 'Big' blower against a midsize Redmax. I realize the Stihl has ALL beat in the weight department but balls-out Redmax's biggest blower will outblow, outlast, outconsume(yes it eats a little more fuel than Stihls BR600), outstart(hot or cold) the Stihl day in and out, season to season to season to season, without much more than a change of the air cleaner every few seasons if cleaned occasionally. Ask any longtime tree man what he thinks of his new Stihl stuff. I've used many brands of equipment over the past 25 years and certain things like Redmax blowers and Hedgetrimmers seem to always outshine others consistantly, as did Stihl MS200T or 020T trim saws... not much compares
I use all stihl hand helds but as the yrs go by they seem to get more expensive n less reliable! I still prefer Redmax blowers over Stihl any day and always!!
I bought the 550 several years ago and it works good for residential driveways and walkways. I like the 600 for big parking lots and heavy leaf blowing. The Red Max is my last choice in this video because of the overall comfort in terms of vibration and fit. The Stihl also has a better design with their choke buttons and on/off buttons.
The leaves fell kinda late this year in Michigan I'd say. I need to go back out next week and do more leaf blowing. Unfortunately I don't see any warmer days next week.
I'm a mechanic for a landscaping company. We used to have all RedMax, but over the last 2 years I have been with this company I've phased them all out with the BR600s. I had so many problems with the RedMax it just wasn't worth it. They are VERY touchy on fuel mixture, a little hot they burn out the heads. Too much oil and it wrecks the carb. The throttle cables are junk, they kept fraying apart. The choke knob wears at the retainer so it won't stay closed, you would have to hold it closed and try to start it. The only issue I've had with the 600's is you have to keep up on the valve clearance...if you let them go too loose, the rocker falls off the valve stem, or the retainers drop off and you loose the valve into the chamber. But it's 15 minutes, once a year, and you're set. The RedMax's were going down on every other week.
That's interesting Matt. I've had good luck for the last 5 years with the Stihl BR550. The only repair on it was the carburetor. It works great and usually starts on the first pull.
When I made the video, I didn't recall the exact price I paid, so I looked up some online prices to see what they're going for. Stihl offers nice discounts for churches and municipalities, so it's possible the online prices are reflecting that. I think the local price is more like $530-$540.
+Holladay Bible Ministry They had a big digital display on the one side and are black and yellow, in color. I had a little mishap with them and upgraded to the new ones.
In areas with snow you may attach an AIR JET SHOVEL accessory to a leaf blower to blow snow and ice from driveways, sidewalks and decks. The Air Jet Shovel harnesses hurricane force winds to pulverize and lift snow from surfaces. See www.AirJetShovel.com
***** Please watch video including Tips of How to Attach AIRJET SHOVEL to Leaf Blower at bit.ly/1cOGsTC It is best to use Method 2 using Velcro tape when attaching a high powered backpack leaf blower. The tapered cone inlet tube of the AIR JET SHOVEL is 3 1/2 inches in diameter. Check to make sure that the outlet tube diameter of your leaf blower is smaller than 3 1/2 inches or you will have to use some other type of connector such as a flexible rubber pipe connector. What is the outlet diameter of your blower? I use a backpack blower with an outlet tube diameter of about 2 7/8 inches. Please watch video including Tips for customizing the AIR JET SHOVEL skid height at bit.ly/1iuul5w For optimum performance it is important that the front edge of the AIR JET SHOVEL blade is able to make contact with the surface being cleaned. The skids on the bottom of the blade must be worn down until the front edge of the blade is able to contact the surface. The skids are made oversized so that for all user heights and leaf blower types there will be sufficient skid material to allow the skids to wear down to a customized height. Snow and ice removal will be greatly improved when the front edge of the blade is able to contact the surface.
The only thing I found confusing about the video is that you said the Red Max is less expensive than the other two but I'm pretty sure that the the lawn equipment stores around where I live the Red Max machines are actually more expensive. So then I thought about it and you are demoing used machines here so I'm not sure if you are basing your info. on new or used equipment. If they are used then wouldn't it make sense to demo machines that are from the same year?
+Steve Percoco It's interesting that you commented about the machines being from the same year. I was using the BR550 a few weeks ago and I was thinking about how pleased I am with it always starting on the first pull. I also started to think about the overall performance and how it's held up great over the years. I came to the conclusion that it works just as good now, as the day I bought it. I wish I could say the same for my ZTR mower engine.
***** Well I have an older Stihl and the problem has been lately that I have to pull that cord about 10 times before it starts so I'm planning to buy a new blower before the leaves come down. I do this work commercially and have close to 50 customers so it would be worth it to get a good one. So your recommendation is to go with the Stihl? I trust your opinion on this.
+Steve Percoco If I were to go out and buy another backpack blower, I would go with the Stihl. I did have to get some carburetor work done a few years ago on the 550, but it gave me years of service before that time and several years of service since then. Hope that helps!
***** Thanks. Yeah I bought my Stihl for 75 bucks if I remember and that was about 6 or 7 years ago and I've used it for many clean-ups. It paid for itself 20 fold. Like you I know a guy who fixes small engines who swears by the Red Max and he says it blows the Stihl away but this guy is just a very opinionated guy and that's his opinion so I'm going with your advice and both of our experiences. I gave you a thumbs up after I watched your video the first time btw Thanks again!
I saw your picture on some Gimick advertisement on facebook or something. It was advertising Echo chainsaws for 19.99 but when you clicked the link and read the smaller print you found out that 19.99 was just for a replacement chain and the Echo climbing saw was roughly 370.00 which is what they go for. Just a highly annoying little clickbait ad that could even confuse a person who dosnt know any better into purchasing.
Stihl is way over marketed for what it is. I personally prefer red max, shindaiwa and Maryuma over Stihl equipment. Stihl does run reliably and stand up to employee abuse very well. But I find Stihl equipment lacks strongly in design when it comes to operator fatigue.
kakarot I have a red max handheld blower I purchased brand new in 1998. It outperforms the new one I got. The thing starts up every time and can go straight from starting to full throttle no problem. No waiting for it to warm up wasting your time n money I bet the older Stijl equipment is better built also.
For snow removal attach an Air Jet Shovel to the Leaf Blower. Shovel blade helps scrape snow and ice from driveway or sidewalk while air blast from leaf blower lifts and blows snow away. Watch ua-cam.com/video/JzwlYMqM9nI/v-deo.html
Buy a $9 disston rake to rake them into a pile for disposal. All you do with a blower is blow them away so the wind can blow them back. Too expensive to buy, fuel, & repair... and too NOISY!!
+Mønikus Mikkelsen I use my backpack blower mainly for clearing grass clippings off my driveway and garage approach after mowing the lawn. I probably only use the blower 10% of the time for leaves.
Tell me of a blower better than the red max 8500?I own a company and red max is far better. We have around 18 blowers and only have normal wear and tear. We have blowers that are 10 yrs old!!!Stihl blowers are for home owners not for companiesHowever stihl is the best on chainsaws hands down
The EB700 is the only Redmax I've ever tested. It seems to vibrate more than the others. I'm interested in testing the 8500. It looks powerful and has the cooled back pad feature I like.
I've never tried the ebz8500. Someone please lend me one to do a video review! Here's something that I thought was interesting about the one you're talking about. I found this feature in their advertisement: "The Max Cooled back pad uses air sucked by the fan housing to cool operators and keep them comfortable during hot days." Sounds nice for those 90+ degree days.
Salvador Serrano u sir, the br600 is awesome and more better than redmax, husqvarna, echo, and shindaiwa. because of the weight and low ratings, stihl has the best equipment u ever had soo go with crappy shindaiwa :P
I’m 12 years old. I used to watch this video every day when I was 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, I’m currently a full on landscaper

***** i have the lil Stihl handheld. I like it for a quick n easy clean up. Lightweight
hey your br600 still works?
Yes, runs great! My 550 looks the same and runs good. I did some carb work on the 550, but no work on the 600.
@@MarkThomasBuilder I want to buy a br600, how often can I do maintenance on it?
why is the throttle on the right side of the redmax? did you move it or did you buy it that way or what? weird :)
wayd19 I bought it that way...
im getting ready to own a stihl br 600
+Cabe Hancock Cool, please comment back to let us know how it work out for you.
What's the 550 like? I have a br 600 and the red max ebz 8500?
I bought the 550 several years ago and it works good for residential driveways and walkways. I like the 600 for big parking lots and heavy leaf blowing. The Red Max is my last choice in this video because of the overall comfort in terms of vibration and fit. The Stihl also has a better design with their choke buttons and on/off buttons.
My mother now requires the leaves be blown on a cool winter day. I imagine she thinks the cold weather will toughen me up as a man.
Red max
I want a new one in my next video...2022 Update
Now put a Husqvarna 580bts up against this thing! I mainly use husky products but I heard great reviews about the br600.
Breyden W I would like to try one of those out just to see how they compare.
The 580 would destroy all three hands down! Those leaves would gone in a couple of seconds without taking a step, as for the tennis ball, why?
How did you get the BR 600 so cheap? Mine was 530 dollars with tax.
When I made the video, I didn't recall the exact price I paid, so I looked up some online prices to see what they're going for. Stihl offers nice discounts for churches and municipalities, so it's possible the online prices are reflecting that. I think the local price is more like $530-$540.
Ty
so do you still have your old digital WorkTunes or the new ones? ;-)
+Holladay Bible Ministry I currently own the new digital WorkTunes. I think they work a little better than the old ones.
+markthomasbuilder never saw those before what do they look like?
+Holladay Bible Ministry They had a big digital display on the one side and are black and yellow, in color. I had a little mishap with them and upgraded to the new ones.
+markthomasbuilder ah
Do you still have br600 ? I've had to adjust valves every 100 hrs at dealer
why didn't you use the redmax 7500 or 8500...would be the competition of the two Stihls.
this is what happens with a little down time and a few leaf blowers
I now own an Echo PB770T Leaf Blower. I plan to get creative with another video test. Stay tuned this fall for that.
really I got for RedMax or Echo blowers
I picked up an Echo after making this video. It does a great job!
OK nice

In areas with snow you may attach an AIR JET SHOVEL accessory to a leaf blower to blow snow and ice from driveways, sidewalks and decks. The Air Jet Shovel harnesses hurricane force winds to pulverize and lift snow from surfaces. See www.AirJetShovel.com
*****
Please watch video including Tips of How to Attach AIRJET SHOVEL to Leaf Blower at bit.ly/1cOGsTC
It is best to use Method 2 using Velcro tape when attaching a high powered backpack leaf blower.
Please watch video including Tips for customizing the AIR JET SHOVEL skid height at bit.ly/1iuul5w
For optimum performance it is important that the front edge of the AIR JET SHOVEL blade is able to make contact with the surface being cleaned.
*****
Well I have an older Stihl and the problem has been lately that I have to pull that cord about 10 times before it starts so I'm planning to buy a new blower before the leaves come down.
*****
Thanks.
I gave you a thumbs up after I watched your video the first time btw
Thanks again!
shil br 700 backpack blower is best blower for shil
I can't wait to check out the BR800.
Why do the stihls sound like 4 strokes and the redmax a 2 stroke
Yeah, that's an interesting question. I've only noticed my Stihl line trimmer sounding like a 4 stroke.
that is because the 550 and 600 are 4 strokes. ;)
why not the echo pb 770?
Zack, If I can get my hands on a Echo pb770, I sure want to try it out and make a test comparison video.
is it better than all stihl backpacks?
I haven't tried the pb770 yet. My favorite so far is the Stihl BR600.
***** also the RedMax EBZ8500 is a great blower-i never tried the EBZ8500, but-you just might think its the best backpack blower on the planet!
Yeah, I need to get my hands on one.
that BR550 looks destroyed, although it s a good backpack. i own a BR200. its very nice and i would reccomend it for everyone.
+andybub45 It's pretty rough looking however, it still runs great!
Thanks for letting me know. I've reported that scam along with several others. I hope people aren't falling for it.
Stihl for the win!
Husky 580 or bigger I think the more power the more heavier it is
Stihl is way over marketed for what it is.
I personally prefer red max, shindaiwa and Maryuma over Stihl equipment.
Stihl does run reliably and stand up to employee abuse very well.
But I find Stihl equipment lacks strongly in design when it comes to operator fatigue.
kakarot
I have a red max handheld blower I purchased brand new in 1998.
It outperforms the new one I got.
The thing starts up every time and can go straight from starting to full throttle no problem.
No waiting for it to warm up wasting your time n money
I bet the older Stijl equipment is better built also.
did all three have the exact same mph and cfpm ratings that's the only way to be fair in this test.
Shindaiwa!!!!!
They make nice stuff!
For snow removal attach an Air Jet Shovel to the Leaf Blower. Shovel blade helps scrape snow and ice from driveway or sidewalk while air blast from leaf blower lifts and blows snow away. Watch

The operator is two much of a variable in a blow test the second time i do a job I am always faster
And in the ball test. He runs for the last two and walks for the first one, Lol

Rad max all the way
sthil
I want to try their new BR700. It looks pretty awesome!
That Redmax will have a short life. I guarantee
The Redmax units I've run seem to have a little bit more vibration, compared to other brands.
7005
Red Max is the best nothing compares to it
Red max has the best power and last very long, easy to repair and easy maintenance!!

Frank Geczi ตร.
I probably only use the blower 10% of the time for leaves.
this video is too long, 7 minutes and forty six seconds too long....
Lmao put that pos stihl 600 up against an ebz8500 , yeah I didn't think so...
Well no shit it would win it also cost a lot more!
AMT99100 Hey Mr I don't know what I'm talking about redmax ebz 8500 New on eBay $499.00 that's $10 more.... now what were u saying fucktard?
I have red m,ax.. its very heavy.. I'm not a big fan of stihl.. they look like lady bug...
That's funny, I never thought of that. Today, I'm starting a 2 video series, where I'll unbox a brand new Echo backpack blower and then test it out.

STIHL BR600 SUCKS SHINDAIWA EB802 OR SHINDAIWA EB854
Salvador Serrano u sir, the br600 is awesome and more better than redmax, husqvarna, echo, and shindaiwa. because of the weight and low ratings, stihl has the best equipment u ever had soo go with crappy shindaiwa :P
+Steve Paholak (Steves Lawn care) very true.i own a br 600 and its amazing
I know ur son he sits at my lunch table
GERMAN ENGINEERING VS MADE IN CHINA
lol good 1
Take your German engineering and shove it. If redmax is so horrible then why did Husqvarna buy them out for their designs.
ECHO IS DE BEST
That’s bull crap 💩
Very good video just your DB our off a bit but that was just a phone app but keep up the good work
Yeah Kodie, I was hoping the DB app would show better accuracy. It gives a ballpark idea of the loudness at least... Thanks for commenting!
