This is very comprehensive and detailed tutorial. Production of this video is equally professional. I appreciated that you used contrasting fabrics and threads to demonstrate this technique. I now feel confident and excited to complete the two notched collared shirts I have been making as Christmas gifts for my husband. Thank you!
I believe this is the most comprehensive tutorial I seen. You have seem to have ALL the elements organized and easily understood! It is difficult for the very experienced sewer, like you, to remember to include basic terms. Once it has become intuitive for you, it's hard to remember that basic sewing techniques are all new/foreign to the beginner. KODOS to you and many thanks for sharing your expertise!
Thank you so much for this! I got stuck with this part, and the pattern has completely inadequate instructions. Can't tell you how so very helpful this tutorial was!
thank you for this video! you are a fabulous teacher. i made a shirt with a convertible collar for the first time yesterday and i wondered if there was a way to do it without the clunky back facing. this video answered my question perfectly!
Thank you so much for this! I have spent a whole day struggling/stressing out trying to understand a pattern I have, and watching so many different tutorials and finding them incredibly hard to follow. I have finally found this tutorial the day after and it is so clear to follow. Using different coloured fabrics and thread really helped to explain each step, I have dyslexia so learning new things and following instructions can sometimes be a real challenge but this tutorial was very friendly towards learning difficulties. Thank you again.
Glenda thank you SO MUCH for your helpful information.❤ Your tutorials are outstanding & have helped me so much with things like this I haven't yet tackled. I read an instructional on this technique & was so confused. I'm a visual learner & this was exactly what I needed to visualize the whole process. I APPRECIATE YOU !!!!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Love you love you love your videos love your explanation and no matter how high and low I searched I end up here coz you give the most professional and the easiest way to sew high . thank you
Thank you so much. Was struggling with this on simplicity pattern 8803. It wasn’t very clear. You showed wonderful technique. Was able to put a beautiful collar in.
Excellent tutorial. Nicely detailed, great visual with clear and concise instructions. Perfect for a beginner such as myself. Thank you for an excellent tutorial.
This was such a helpful and well documented video. I liked how you went step-by-step through the process and explained thoroughly. I watched the video several times and then I went through the steps with you as you were showing them. Now I know how to attach these kinds of collars. Thank you very much for taking the time to create this video.
You my dear are a life saver. I am sewing a shirt for my son and i havent made a garment since 4H 40 yrs ago. He is 30 and i know he is going to be so astonished that i sewed a shirt for him that i know he will be buying material for me. I opted for an 8 dollar pattern instead of a 20 dollar pattern and its ridiculously hard to understand. I have the shirt ready except for the collar, and it had had me stumped because there is no collar band! Ive already sewn the lapel so ill rip the stiches and open the neck edge of of it and do it this way. You have helped me figure out what to do soooo much. I have the sleeves on and was down to collar and button holes and its been hanging and ive read and reread the instructions to no revelation. You have completely clarified what to do and i am sooo thankful. Seriously you have been an angel for me. I am making another and i will not sew on sleeves or close side seams and do it this way! Again, thankyou!
Glenda, Thank you very much for your video, I have gone through so much tutorials before coming here, wow, you are really precise ! I love your content.
Thank you so much Glenda!! This was such a helpful tutorial for me and I’m sure for many other beginner seamstresses like me. My collared shirt turned out amazing thanks to your video🙂
This video really helped me do a perfect collar, when I began sewing...my mistake was making pajamas, for my first project. Glenda gives great demonstrations that even a novice can follow to achieve a perfect result.
Fantastic! I had really botched a collar making my first shirtdress from a certain McCalls pattern known for its poor collar instructions, and this helped me finally get it right. Really appreciate your videos, thank you!!
WOW.. that’s is amazing teaching. I am not just understanding but I could feel inside hearing her voice. Have been helping me a lot. Thanks you so much.
Just what to say that it sure is easy the way you explained it and also the way you sewed it. At school they gave us a “step by step” instruction sheet and it doesn’t make sense at all!!! Just very glad that I found you!
Thank you so much. Your video and instructions were very clear and were exactly what I needed. I've dismantled a garment that was made by someone else to use as a pattern so I don't have any instructions to work from. Its been a while since I've done collars and couldn't quiet remember how to sew it in. All the other videos I viewed previously showed how to draft a pattern (which was complicated) or used a back facing. This is exactly what I needed. I've liked, subscribed and will be watching your other videos. Keep up the excellent work.
Alishia James - you are most welcome. I'm so glad the information was of such benefit for you. Definitely make sure to watch more of our Sure-Fit Designs videos.
Glenda, I loved that last statement about how all of these lessons will all combine to create a finished fashion piece. Thank you for these informative videos. After watching your videos, I have decided to return to sewing after stopping 3 years ago after graduating college. I wish I knew that back neck finish technique 3 years ago.
@@surefitdesigns yes ma'am, I am still learning about sewing, especially this part, and hopefully someday I also can make my own tutorial about collar and more..

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I tried and tried until I was able to get it perfect and neat. I Just cant believe it and it was fun. Many thanks.
Thank you this was helpful, I have done a couple of collars before. Right now I am trying to follow a 1970s dress pattern with this sort of collar but with a back zipper dividing the posterior part of the collar...hope fully I can mange better now I have watched your lovely calm, clear video.
Thank you!! I'm in the process of making a pj long sleeve top from simplicity. I have had a lot of trouble finding a good tutorial that explains it well. You do it a little differently but it looks like the instructions are asking for the same thing. I'm going to baste the top collar to the neck edge tomorrow then sew it then do the front facing the exact same as you have shown. I'll also have this step by step video alongside me. Extremely grateful, thank you!
