SIS... before I finish watching this vid, I just want to commend you on your TRANSPARENCY! I too LOVE Dave Ramsey... he's seriously my financial Godfather🙌 I pray that God would flood you with GRACE AND MERCY during this season and I declare that you will be VICTORIOUS in Jesus name, AMEN!! 💖💖💖💲💲💲😍😍😍
Never used Dave Ramsey. Paid off my CC, Car, House and over 100k in student loans. Not sure I could use him now for help since money for me is easy to manage.
Not to be mean but NONE of the other 5 or 6 other adults that were living with you RENT free could help you contribute to these expenses?? This is why a lot of women are in debt we are willing to drown to help others this has got to stop. Good luck with your get out of debt journey.
odetochef this is exactly why I’m sharing my journey. I’m not the only one make emotional decision that result in life mistakes. I love my family. Most people who find theme selves in a similar situation Love there families but it’s learning how to love without drowning. I’m learning how to do that and I’m sharing it with other so we can stop this cycle. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Love doesn't equal money. If they can't see that you are struggling, and propping up their lifestyle, they don't love you as much as you think. Glad to see that you are learning to love without drowning.
My mom is guilty of this type of thing and us, her kids, suffered for it. It's a nobel thing to do, but she didn't realize what she was doing until we asked her, "What have they done for us lately?" Black women tend to fall into this trap. It's like that Boondocks episode Invasion of the Katrinians. Housing family will make you broke.
Yes, the median net worth of black women is collectively $5.00 precisely for this reason. "Helping" out family who could very well do for themselves and most times, did very little to help us get to where we are professionally and socially. I truly think black women need to become extremely selfish, especially in this day and age and look out for self. The best thing I've ever heard regarding my finances is "You don't have to set yourself on fire to keep others warm".
Time to draw up contracts with the 4 adults. Eliminating that monthly living cost alone decreases your debt significantly: utilities, food, wear and tear. Anyone who doesn't like it can be given a directory to the nearest shelter. Grown people sucking the life out of their so called loved ones with the attitude of entitlement are leeches. Time for everyone to grow up.
This is the problem when you're the only smart one in your family. If you're not careful, they will ruin your life! I know, I'm highly educated, but unfortunately being the only person with that much education and earning power is a drain. I just ignore their requests most of the time. They make bad, silly choices (in spite of your advice ) and then they expect you to clean their mess up! If my mother wasn't dead, she would be the only person I would take care of!
Wow all the negative and judgmental comments. Like you all are perfect and never messed up before. I love how transparent you are and being honest with yourself. You recognize and acknowledge your mistakes and make a plan not to repeat them. Its funny, i randomly came across your Channel and then a few days later I saw your interview with one of my favorite podcasters Bola. God brought me here for a reason. Your channel is so inspiring and is helping me reevaluate my finances , I wish you nothing but the best and I am excited to follow you along this journey!! PS.....low key wanna shave my head because you are rocking it!!!
I understand the pressure of having to look good in your profession (working in law) but remember these people won't be there to pay your bills (or as ramsay says, why are you trying to impress you don't even like) ..... I have my staple black dresses that I change up with accessories - one week I even wore the same black dress every day with different accessories, heels, lipstick, hair do (you can do a tonne with curly hair), and nails - not one person in the office realised and, in fact, I got complimented twice on my outfit from two different colleagues ......that is when I realised, people dont care about me or what im wearing for the most part, their more concerned about what their wearing and how they look. I also have colour in my wardrobe but it's those bold pieces that people remember- simple yet sophisticated black pieces I would recommend as a staple
I get your points, but it's a tedious balance being a woman of colour in a corporate profession, as people spend way too much time to what you're wearing 🙁
I buy most of my expensive pieces at thrift shops. I've purchased Kate Spade, Coach, Fendi, Cartier, and Hermes from consignment shops. I recommend you consider them.
My husband walked into the room, saw you and said, "She's beautiful!" LOL Yes you are. We just paid off our car, home and all our debt. If we can do it anyone can. Love your videos...especially meal prep.
Dave Ramsey says if you cant afford to pay cash then you cant afford it. Ive had purchases that Ive made with a credit card for the simple fact that I didnt want to part with that amount of cash at one time but then inevitably I will pay the card off before the next statement even arrives because I have such a strong aversion to debt and paying interest to these banks and credit card companies that i refuse to pay a cent in interest to them. Debt thresholds honestly should be zero dollars or whatever takes you longer than a month to pay off but if you are living by the teachings of dave ramsey then plain and simple if you dont have the cash in the bank at that exact moment (besides a house) then you cant afford it and i think being comfortable and humble enough to tell ourselves we simply cant afford something is a big step toward staying out of debt.
True story! I think my error was that I learned this truth to late. It should always be if I can't pay cash I can't afford it. But now I've learned this lesson twice. I got it. And I'm going to become debt free and live debt free for the rest of my life. Thank you for commenting and watching.
That's my experience since moving to cash since February 2017 - cash is king! Saying no to myself is NOT easy. I'm a lawyer, single, with no debt, so telling myself I cannot afford or have something irritates me (because I feel like I cannot treat myself) but I walk away - stick to the budget, stick to my budget. It is frustrating at times but I cannot recall one thing I walked away from within the year that I regret not purchasing - not one thing!
I commend you for you possitivity!!! You fell back into debt after making progress but rather than being defeated you just say "ok, let's do it again". I'm so impressed!
Behind in payments, including utilities? Why am I watching this? I was really deep in debt and in bad health but somehow I always managed to make the minimum payments on everything. ($63,000+ debt and no job since I was so sick.) Yes, I had to borrow from a credit card to pay another, and the utilities but somehow I managed. Sold my house for way more than I expected, almost as soon as I put it in the market because the wife of the real estate agent fell in love with the house. Bought a cheaper one and all the profit went to debt. As I see it was a MIRACLE because I had no idea how I was going to be able to make the next mortgage payment.
I never comment on YT video's, but this one really touched my heart! I started my debt freedom journey Jan 1, 2016 because of you and the momentum you displayed. Im finally at the half way mark. I will take your words of wisdom to avoid those similar pitfalls. Thank you. You got this!!!!
Awwwwe this just warms my happy heart. Thank you for commenting. My hope is to keep myself and others inspired to do the work of building a legacy through living #debtfree + #budgeting + never giving up on their dream. No matter how much they've messed or how impossible it may seem.
What a great video. People make it seems so easy to get out of debt and stay out of it. But life sometimes just happens and sadly before we are actually ready. This is inspirational. I hope me starting pretty early that I can pay off debt to be in a position to afford things when life happens.
One Smart Fro Thank you so much for watching! It is not easy... it’s simple but not easy. I think people don’t get started or fail completely in personal finance because it is simple but not easy. 🤗
In talking about how much debt we have, we often do not consider the interest that many debts carry. So instead of you having $208,000 worth of debt, it is likely twice that amount, over the time that it will take you to pay it off. Interest, like a disease, eats away at our efforts to destroy our debt, and sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we cannot run fast enough. The same with taxes. We don't often think about how much the tax is on what we buy. Down here in Florida, it is 7%. So, a couch that costs $1000 is actually $1,070. If we buy it on time with interest, it can cost $1,500 by the time it is paid off. And that's just one item.
Glad you are feeling better .. Shame is so powerful. It keeps us shackled. Glad you opened up. I hope you feel some relief and release from just sharing. I don’t follow Dave Ramsey but I appreciate everyone’s debt free journey .. you’ve learned a lesson about the tie between emotions and money management.. 💞
I feel so much relief, release and RESTORATION now that I've shared. I've heard that shame can only survive in silence. So a part of this was about releasing the shame. But a major part was getting back to myself and my love of documenting my life and sharing lessons learned. Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University is amazing! Thank you for watching and commenting.
You make some really good points. Life and Belief Systems that we work so hard to change...we have to challenge ourselves to constantly and consistently to do the work that keeps us walking in the alignment of our "new" selves. It all reminds me of a tuned piano...no matter how pretty it sounds today, if we don't continue to condition it it will eventually go back to being what it was...out of tune. At the end of the day...we will all be okay...a the end of the day, if we stay on this journey, we will find ourselves somewhere better than this (whatever this may be).
It's exactly like a massive house payment. The collection calls don't bother me because I just answer and tell them the truth. They try to flip out and be mean but I'm usually calm about it because I've already faced the shame of what I've done with my money so nothing they can say really lands. Thank you for watching and commenting.
I think my ability to stay out of debt has had more to do with not being materialistic than with anything else. I've never understood how others get so excited about new cars, fancy clothes, etc.
I don't get excited about much of those things either. My Achilles' heel is leveraging my potential. For example with student loans or business expenses/investments. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank you for your transparency. This video was powerful on many levels. No need to feel ashamed, as I know many are going through the same thing, but don't feel strong enough to share it. My husband and I are on our debt free journey as well. I'll be following your journey and praying for you as you crush the debt once and for all.
I think it's commendable that you own both the situation of being in debt but also owning the responsibility that you allowed yourself to fall into debt a second time. In order to tackle a challenge, one must be willing to accept all the shame and blame but understand that it is how you handle that situation that matters most
My husband and I ascribe to Dave Ramsey`s Financial Peace and it is amazing. We were able to send both of our children through private colleges debt free. One of my favorite Dave Ramsey statements is, "Every penny has an assignment." Blessings to you young lady.
I'm so glad you shared...the biggest thing Im learning in this life is taking full responsibility for my actions...and requiring others around me to do the same...I have seen that once you become successful others start to count your money for you...I love my family but Im responsible for no one but myself...I've learned to cut off any person that doesn't understand that...friend or family...This is just the reality of my life.
I follow Dave Ramsey and yes life happens but the plan he puts out there for us to learn from works. I work too hard to have nothing at the end. You are going to do great! I love his quotes like. "We wander into debt but don't wander out of debt." and "Cash is king". It takes intention. I love how you take accountability because that is not easy. So no shame. "Live like no one else so later you can live like no one else!"
Go girl! The fact that you take responsibility is also your biggest power. Because it gives you the power to change! You are in control! And you are gonna make it!
"I began to use debt again...My behavior begun to say this is a tool and this is okay." That debt is a tool and this is okay. This notion is soooo illuminating.
Girl, you killed it in this video today. Real and Honest. I did the same thing. I am back on to finish up my student loans. 1000 a month. That means things are about to get real.......................
Samantha Taylor Thank you so much for watching and commenting! My minimum student loan payment is $1600 a month so I’m looking forward to being in a position again to pay that!
You've got this. Thanks for being transparent, I would love to follow your journey, I'm preparing to go on a debt free journey. I did go through Financial Peace University and will go through it again.
Thank you so much for the encouragement! And cheers to you for going through FPU again. I'm taking the class again too. I'm so excited to START OVER. #TeamDebtFree
Thank you for being transparent. A lot of ppl would've been to ashamed and embarrassed to do this after being on a getting debt free journey, and then get caught back up in it again. Well you know now what is causing some of this. So praying that you can get back on track and continue your journey to debt freedom.
God bless you for your transparency, thank you for your authenticity. I know that your persistence and determination will get you through this journey once again.
Enjoying your journey.Admire you. Never had credit cards, single mom, worked and was poor, but not in debt trap. See the temptations my daughter has. The credit card offers in college, student loans, etc. Just live w.what you can afford. I will keep up w.your story.God bless!
So you got me to pause this video, watch a bunch of Dave Ramsey, and now I’m back and I’m so inspired you you. Also, your honesty is very inspirational. Your honesty is so pivotal to making sure that other people can do this. Now, a month later after doing my own research in to Dave Ramsey, you’re so right! Girl! So much appreciation for this.
Thank you for taking the time to watch Dave Ramsey. I think many people watch me try to practice his principles and don't get it because they never heard his principles. I'm so happy that you took the time to get the information directly from him. Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
I can’t believe I’ve been watching your videos without being subscribed! I watch you so much, you pop on my feed all the time. Well now I am subscribed and I really enjoy your vids!
wondermom07 Thank you for subscribing! Thank you for commenting!!! And thank you for supporting. We are in and out often. I think examples help. Most people show the end. But I’m like what did you do in the beginning. I couldn’t find it so I decided to share my everything! Thank you for supporting.
I've got myself out of debt and I have been dishonest with my husband about it. The first time it was $9000 worth of credit card debt. I told him I had closed the acount, which I hadn't and thought I could keep on top of it. The next time I had $700 worth of debt and he was so disappointed in me. I paid it off in 2 weeks but that wasn't the point. He has trust issues with me now, regarding money. I don't have a credit card - I pay cash for everything. I'm really tight with my money now. I don't like having to hand over cash. I can't be trusted with a credit card.
Michele McGill Thank you for sharing. Yes credit cards are difficult for me as well. I’m happy to hear that you’ve paid it off. In time with healthy money habits I’m sure your husband will grow to trust you in this area. Have you consider taking Dave Ramsey’s financial Peace University? It’s just an amazing program that truly educates you on personal finances.
I can’t be trusted with a credit card either. My ex husband used to be a credit counselor and I’ve seen stories of people up to $100,00 just from store credit cards alone. Like 20-30.
Oh my goodness! I'm just now seeing you. Thank you for being so upfront. I'm 46 and still learning lessons. I have made some changes in my life, some forced and some voluntary regarding my finances. The good thing is, you realized your mistakes and what was unrealistic and went back to the drawing board. We never plan for LIFE. I can't thank you enough! For me, when I think of all the changes I need to make it becomes overwhelming, but I know that it can be done. I needed to see this.
What a great observation that there is a debt threshold we become comfortable with. Five years ago, I got divorced and lost all credit cards in process. After living in cash for all these years, I want 0 debt. I’ve been paying down everything as quickly as possible. Your challenge is that much of your debt is for “necessities” or what seem like them. So it’s harder to say no - but you can do it! Refocus and reenergize. You can do it!
I know this video is almost a year old, but I wanted to thank you for your transparency and hard work. I watched a grocery haul video because I'll be a student going back to school in a few days, and I'm looking for tips. You seem like a decent human, I'll stick around
I started watching video re $50 monthly grocery haul and am hooked! Appreciate your honesty Stacey Flowers, I struggle even being honest with myself. Made a budget last year after doing Michelle Singletary's 21 day financial fast, but never followed it. Promised myself that this long weekend I will do all necessary prep work to get back on track to eliminate my debt including setting a strategy and a start date. Will check out Dave Ramsay as well. Thank you again and stay blessed and focused, you've got this!
Omg yes! Your final comment reminded me of a conversation I had with a former coworker who kept saying to me “you should go to grad school and get your masters in education” and I was like “why the H! Would I do that?!” And she’s like “because you’ll get paid more ANNND you’ll get around $40,000 just to get your masters and...” I HAD to cut her off and say “don’t you know you have to pay that back WITH interest?!” And she’s like “yeah but that’s a lot of money right now” and I cut her off AGAIN and said “right now!” By the time I get my masters I would owe around $80,000 and by that time I would not be making enough to pay that back and be able to provide for myself. Not as a teacher, period!” I wish money, economics, finances, whatever name they want to give it, would be talked about more a taught more thoroughly in schools and at home. This is a cycle that can be stopped if not avoided all together. But I know this video is old but I just had to give my two cents on the topic lol.
I'm in debt bc Of college I honestly regret going 2 college. I'm 4 classes away 4rm my BA and they wasnt me 2 pay 15k b4 I enroll. What a slap in the face
Thank you. My skin is a tell for my well-being. When my skin looks bad I'm off balance in life. I may do a skincare video to share truly what my skin looks like when I'm out of balance as I can see that irritated skin is a problem for many of my subscribers. Thank you so much for watching, complimenting, and commenting.
Just found your channel! I was born in Nebraska as well and ALSO live in Chicago now! (Just relocated in August). You've definitely inspired me to get my debt under control and aggressively pay it down. Thank you
I know this video is older but I just stumbled upon your channel and I want to thank you for your transparency. You've motivated me to take a good hard look at my own financial mess and now I'm working on fixing it. Thank you so much for sharing your story. This was my wakeup call.
I really appreciate your courage to make this video. I am swimming the turbulent waters of debt and exploring budgeting programs, like Budget Boot Camp and Dave Ramsay, and it is pretty scary stuff man! Finding myself in debt-and especially finding it so difficult to diligently change my behavior everytime a financial decision has to be made has been overwhelming. Sometimes, the testimonials from people who are attacking debt can actually feel defeating rather than inspiring because everyone comes to these programs at different points in their lives personally and financially. Not all of us start trying to turn things around when they have the cash on hand to crush debt. Some of us are right in the midst of the storm and it is a messy road. Thank you for being willing to explore this topic in real time with such humility and grace.
I'm gonna start with I love watching you and your videos it makes me so happy to see a sister on UA-cam contributing socially! And just being fly in general lol I watched a video today of a grocery haul admittedly I don't keep up everyday cause life.. school, toddler, husband..it's alot. BUT I heard you say 200+ I was like HOW?! I wasn't about to comment on that video but I am SO glad you made this video! You are not only straight up but you are someone for our sisters to look up too! Keep hustling mama!
I’ve got major shame as well. We sold our home in March and paid off a lot of debt. We decided to build new (upgraded!) rented for six months and while we were saving more for the down payment we used credit cards again. Stupid stupid stupid!!!! We paid 10% down on the house our new mortgage is 1000 more than our old house. Sitting here now updating the numbers and getting real again for January. Shame won’t pay the bills so just getting back on track. I’m here with you! Subscribing! We can do this!
My sister recommended I become familiar with you and your story this morning. I'm not disappointed. I admire your courage and accountability. Sure, your choices helped put you behind again, but family situations and your illness that you couldn't control also contributed big-time. I heard you mention tithing and my mind was made more at ease about you and your situation. God let's us make our choices and experience the consequences - positive or negative. Still, His commitment to us does not waver (grace) and He waits until we re-commit to Him. That's where I am and that's where you're going. So keep marching on!
New subbie as of this afternoon! I'm 21 years old and around $50K in debt after recently graduating from a well-known private research university. I am taking a gap year while applying to begin law school in Fall 2019 and randomly came across your videos while researching grocery budgeting hahah. The way you explained being at the crossroad of managing emotional and mental health while also attacking what needs to get done is honestly what made me subscribe. I can't wait to watch your journey to freedom!
thank you for this. i too got seriously ill (cancer) and my life came to a standstill while dealing with getting better. i am better now, and like you, digging myself out of a whole ka-ka storm of debt. you inspire me...so again I thank you! Good luck and I look forward to watching your progress. Cheers from St. Louis
Totally needed to find this video. Just hearing you makes me realize I need to take accountability for my choices, one of the biggest being breaking my commitment to myself and letting myself think it's "okay to have debt" because of income. Thank you for creating this.
thank you so much for your bravery and honesty with this video. I am in a lot of debt and feel a lot of shame about it, but your amazing attitude about being committed to getting out is really inspiring me!!!!
Your are so very welcome. The shame will fade as you learn new skills to overcome poor money habits. It’s a journey and you are not alone. I’m happy to be here with you! Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
This was sooo helpful I love the fact you took responsibility for your own choices and are correcting them thank you for making this you are firing us all up to keep going and do better! 🙌🏾💕😍
Lady the truth will set you free!! Just taking ownership of your mistake is the first step to getting back on track. It is no joke about failing prey to old habits. It's amazing how family knows when there's extra rooms at relatives homes. If you had not upgraded your house I wonder where they would have went. However, as long as you are determined, nothing can stop you! Watch out for those landmines girl and you will be just fine!!
I love your honesty and the way you have taken personal responsibility for your choices. We all fail to do this at times, but we only get where we want to be when we stop avoiding reality and stop blaming others. You WILL succeed!
Stacey, you are a doll. We've been doing Dave Ramsey's plan for years and I sometimes it is so easy to get discouraged. I love how real you're keeping it and how honest you're being. Your testimony is beautiful and I love all your videos. Keep on working hard to become debt free!
Thank you so much for being brave to share your debt story! It really takes guts to talk about this very personal topic to strangers on the internet, but I'm sure this speaks to a lot of people because we are all living in some form of debt! Been following you for a few months now and all I have is love and support for you! Thanks for all the effort you put into making these videos. ❤
I just happened to find your page last night. I am seeking to live a more simple life. I lost my job almost 3 months ago. I am currently living on my savings and you would think that with the loss of a job I would have scaled back significantly in my spending, and prioritize my needs over my wants. Well i did not do that. I am still spending money as if I have a job. I know that this is just leading to a path of self destruction and anxiety has just totally taken over my life at time, but I am so committed to "righting" this wrong. I take full responsibility for the situation I am in and i am committed to doing whatever it takes to get to a healthy relationship with money. I thank God for leading me to your page. And thank you so much for being so transparent about your situation. I will be praying for you .You truly are an encouragement..May God continue to bless you 😊
Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I have been so discouraged about my debt and feel like I don't really know where to start in tackling it. Your honesty and transparency really help me to combat the shame I am feeling that leads to defeat, discouragement, and just feeling paralyzed. I stumbled across you on Rachel Hollis's podcast today and I truly feel that God provided just what I needed to hear in your story. I can't wait to follow your journey and begin my own path to financial freedom. Thank you!!
It's so brave of you to share all of this. Good for you for taking responsibility for your actions. It would be so easy to try to blame circumstances, big companies, other people. It is so much harder to confront our weaknesses. Good for you. You can absolutely get out of this debt.
Stacey, First I want to say Thank you so much for your honesty. It’s a serious breath of fresh air in a world where authenticity seems to be rare. May the Lord give you the grace, wisdom and strength to see this goal to the end.
You can do this!! God has and will continue to walk with you. When you feel alone in the battle, that's when he is carrying you! Hang in there! You got this sister!!
Just started watching you. You are so beautiful and have fabulous skin. I just completed my Dave Ramsey journey. Debt free not including rent and the basics. No car payment and no credit card debt. Don't ever want to go back to where I was.
This was good. Effective immediately, my debt threshold is 90 days. I will only go into debt for things that I can pay off in full in 90 days or less. Debt is not the problem, lack of self-control and financial prudence is. Thanks for sharing your story, and good luck.
Thank you for being open and transparent about such a personal topic. It has helped me put into words what I couldn't before. I am in debt again because I didn't stay committed to myself to remain out of debt. This is my story too. Listening to you has revived my desire to come up with my strategy to once again work on paying off my debt. I did it before and I believe I can do it again ... one baby step at a time! Thanks again.
Dave does talk about the emotional aspects of money. Money is more emotional than intellectual or behaviour. After all money = energy, emotion = energy in motion.
I'm going to listen to part 2, but I thank you so much for posting this video because I was doing well and fell off the wagon and got back into small debt, but most of mine was from miss payments of current expenses. I stopped filming my own videos and participating in my group set up for debt support because I was ashamed and didn't have the courage that you have in this video to say "I messed up". So thank you for your candid truth and your transparency to own your stuff! You have really inspired me...thanks
Your transparency is awesome. I dare not calculate my current debt. I see many of my mistakes in your story. When I obtain my MBA and secure permanent employment that will be my focus. Thank you for sharing.
I’m subscribing like...yesterday. This is the kind of influence I want, life kicks us all in the butt and if she’s so focused and diligent then I can do what I want to do. Awesome ❤️❤️
I so glad I clicked on you but little did I know what a gem I came across. Love your honesty, transparency about debt and you giving important insight to help me. I was watching your Videos and couldn't stop and thanks for substance. Learning to make adjustments to my low budget. Sticking to that plan. Thank you for empowering me to become open to therapy and other area's to become a healthy person, which would strengthen a better me because I'm learning a new lifestyle at 54 💕🙏
Thank you for sharing. I watched you’re $50 grocery haul and subscribed. But now I see why you’re so strict with your budget. I have about $8k in debt and this motivates me to stop and get it together. ❤️❤️❤️
Wow !! thank you for your honesty!! By admitting that your debt is your debt and caused by your poor choices. I really admire that. And I need to do that. I recently paid off a large sum of debt and I am slowly making descions to that is getting me back in debt. This video is the reminder I need to remain focused and get back on my grind!!
Acknowledgment is the first step. I'm grateful to have expressed it. It releases the shame and makes it easier to breathe and make better choices. thank you so much for watching and commenting.
I'm glad you are finally starting to take care of yourself like you took care of your family. I can imagine the feeling of having the weight of the world on your shoulders for so long, and it's hard because people get into these situations because of good old life. Your story is really inspiring, and I wish you the best.
SIS... before I finish watching this vid, I just want to commend you on your TRANSPARENCY!
Yes It's Me is Dave Ramsey a UA-camr ?
Yes It's Me and how did you do it
Yes it me... thats nice, but why TF are you watching debt videos?? 🤔
Adaobi you’re so right! God can make miracles out of our mistakes. I’m trying to believe that.
JAchica11 100%
JAchica11 lol are you sure you are the intelligent one...
I thought I was the only one who felt that way!!! People always call me selfish for thinking that way...smdh...
eboni257 So there's many who has watched this video. Why would you think you're the only person who felt/thought that?!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you got a chance to watch my interview with Bola! It was so good! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
I agree completely! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
I recommend you consider them.
wen blue black slacks n cardigan is my staple!!!!
My husband walked into the room, saw you and said, "She's beautiful!" LOL Yes you are. We just paid off our car, home and all our debt. If we can do it anyone can. Love your videos...especially meal prep.
siszam hmmm
It is frustrating at times but I cannot recall one thing I walked away from within the year that I regret not purchasing - not one thing!
kingzfan2000 ❤
Dave Ramsey is full of shi#. I have no debt, paid off my CC, Car, House all without a single piece of advice from him.
It’s ok you are human and you will be ok.
Thank you!
😊😊😊
Amen to that.
One Smart Fro
You favor Lupita Nyongo so much♥️ thank you for this video!!
You are so very welcome!
Thanks for telling your story..This really touched me. You can get through this. You have a youtube friend supporting you...
Delisa lyfe Thank you so much for your support!

YES! YES! yes! and more yes!! Documenting my journey is to help me stay conditioned throughout this journey.
Oh my word! I have work to do also. I Thank God for His Grace. I stand with you on your break through.
Thank you so much!
Amen!!
Kudos for tackling debt, acknowledging your shortcomings, and getting back on track. Proud of you!!
jetsetrbabe Thank you so much for your encouragement, watching, and commenting.
That amount of debt is like a house literally sitting on top of your chest. The collection calls must be exhausting.
I'm scared of falling into debt. I have none right now and your videos are helping me stay in line🤗 thank you SO much. You're committnent is amazing.
You do not need debt to live a beautiful life. So happy my journey is inspiring you to live by cash.
Thank you for your transparency. This video was powerful on many levels. No need to feel ashamed, as I know many are going through the same thing, but don't feel strong enough to share it. My husband and I are on our debt free journey as well. I'll be following your journey and praying for you as you crush the debt once and for all.
Sharnette Raye-Brown Thank you so much for your prayer and support! And congratulations on you and husband starting the debt free journey!!!
I think it's commendable that you own both the situation of being in debt but also owning the responsibility that you allowed yourself to fall into debt a second time. In order to tackle a challenge, one must be willing to accept all the shame and blame but understand that it is how you handle that situation that matters most
Layla I agree! Thank you so much for watching, commenting and complimenting me on my journey. I know “for me” this is a very important first step.
My husband and I ascribe to Dave Ramsey`s Financial Peace and it is amazing. We were able to send both of our children through private colleges debt free. One of my favorite Dave Ramsey statements is, "Every penny has an assignment." Blessings to you young lady.
Thank you! Every penny indeed has a name. Thank you so much for sharing this part of your story. It encourages me.
girl you are so real! love is not a big enough word to say how much i appreciate you!
Thank you so so very much!
$1600 minimum Holy crap. my min is $150. This student loan crisis is crazy.
Thank you for your words of encouragement!!!
Confessions are good for the soul. You are a awesome person that shall prevail.
Thank you so much!!!
And we all do it!! Its easy to slip back into old habits!!
Enjoying your journey.Admire you. Never had credit cards, single mom, worked and was poor, but not in debt trap. See the temptations my daughter has. The credit card offers in college, student loans, etc. Just live w.what you can afford. I will keep up w.your story.God bless!
thank you so much! I'm enjoying sharing my journey! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
Thank you for being so transparent. You've got this.
Felicia Reynolds Thank you!
I can’t believe I’ve been watching your videos without being subscribed! I watch you so much, you pop on my feed all the time. Well now I am subscribed and I really enjoy your vids!
So so happy you enjoy my work! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
I just found your channel today. Thanks for being so real with us. Many of us have been in and out of debt, unfortunately. New subbie here.
wondermom07 Thank you for subscribing!
Its food to recognize and make the changes! You can work on your relationship and need to do that. There will be light at the end of the tunnel!
I can’t be trusted with a credit card either. My ex husband used to be a credit counselor and I’ve seen stories of people up to $100,00 just from store credit cards alone. Like 20-30.
That's great how you were honest with yourself and owned your mistake instead of blaming it on someone or something else. Good luck!
Girl, your transparency in this video ‘is’ changing lives!
I know this video is almost a year old, but I wanted to thank you for your transparency and hard work. I watched a grocery haul video because I'll be a student going back to school in a few days, and I'm looking for tips. You seem like a decent human, I'll stick around
Thanks for sticking around!!
Thank you for sharing your story!!! I'm standing with you! #TeamDebtFree
#TeamDebtFree I LOVE THAT!!! You are so very welcome! Thank you for watching!
Me too because so many people are mis-informed. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
I'm in debt bc Of college I honestly regret going 2 college. I'm 4 classes away 4rm my BA and they wasnt me 2 pay 15k b4 I enroll. What a slap in the face
You're gorgeous. Flawless skin and perfect teeth.
Yes and no way can I pull off having no hair.
Your skin is very beautiful, and love your attitude
It’s not paying off the debt though 🤷🏾♂️
Just found your channel! I was born in Nebraska as well and ALSO live in Chicago now! (Just relocated in August). You've definitely inspired me to get my debt under control and aggressively pay it down. Thank you
Best decision I've ever made. Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
I know this video is older but I just stumbled upon your channel and I want to thank you for your transparency. You've motivated me to take a good hard look at my own financial mess and now I'm working on fixing it. Thank you so much for sharing your story. This was my wakeup call.
You are so very welcome! I'm so happy you are enjoying my content!
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my videos. And thank you oh so very much for the compliments!
I’ve got major shame as well. We
sold our home in March and paid off a lot of debt.
Jessica X yessss! I’m so excited that you’re joining the journey and getting back on track. We can do this!!! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Your honesty and sense of ownership is phenomenal. It has forced me to be honest with myself about my own spending habits.
thank you for this. i too got seriously ill (cancer) and my life came to a standstill while dealing with getting better. i am better now, and like you, digging myself out of a whole ka-ka storm of debt.
you inspire me...so again I thank you!
Good luck and I look forward to watching your progress.
Cheers from St. Louis
Thank you oh so very much. You inspire me. Thank you for watching and commenting.
I’m praying for you in this journey. You’ve got this! You’re going to come through this debt free and victorious!
Totally needed to find this video. Just hearing you makes me realize I need to take accountability for my choices, one of the biggest being breaking my commitment to myself and letting myself think it's "okay to have debt" because of income. Thank you for creating this.
I just found your channel today. I am working hard to get out of debt like you. We can do it!
We can DO THIS!!!! Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
thank you so much for your bravery and honesty with this video.
Just taking ownership of your mistake is the first step to getting back on
track. It is no joke about failing prey to old habits. It's amazing how family knows when there's extra rooms
at relatives homes. If you had not upgraded your house I wonder where they would have went.
However, as long as you are determined, nothing can stop you! Watch out for those landmines girl and
you will be just fine!!
I agree! so much in my life has changed by speaking these simple truths! Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
I will be praying for you .You truly are an encouragement..May God continue to bless you 😊
That debt threshold point was meant for me. You and your channel are a blessing.
Thank you!!
I applaud you for being so transparent! "To thine ownself be true" is the moto I try to live by. God Bless you on your journey 😇
Wonderful... You are human!!! I started my journey about 4 years ago!!! Fell off the wagon several times. Still perfecting it.
You are freaking STUNNING....OMG😍😍😍😍😍
You can do this!! God has and will continue to walk with you. When you feel alone in the battle, that's when he is carrying you! Hang in there! You got this sister!!
You look so similar to Lupita Nyongo. You’re sooo pretty and I’m literally obsessed with your videos 😍
Just started watching you. You are so beautiful and have fabulous skin. I just completed my Dave Ramsey journey. Debt free not including rent and the basics. No car payment and no credit card debt. Don't ever want to go back to where I was.
lynn Congratulations, that's a great achievement!!!
This was good. Effective immediately, my debt threshold is 90 days. I will only go into debt for things that I can pay off in full in 90 days or less. Debt is not the problem, lack of self-control and financial prudence is. Thanks for sharing your story, and good luck.
Thank you for the video and for being open, subscribed, i'm going to be following your journey
Thank you so much for subscribing and I appreciate you watching my journey!
